Should have spent more and got a fit for purpose shovel, the handle snapped at the base (shovel head) after 10 minutes of light work... looking inside the timber handle at the breakage point it is poor quality and weak. Will spend top dollar on next shovel to avoid the annoyance factor experienced here.

The worst handle. The handle is not propper hard wood. Mine broke on the lower end of the shaft due to timber knots being in the wort spot possible. Wouldn't recommend

Had this shovel for about two months. Did some garden last weekend with it and it survived. Today though it had the handle breakoff at the shovel....Am I mad? ....noAm I inconvenienced? ... yesAm I worried? ... haha, not when it states it has a 10 year warranty. Can't wait to see how many times it can be broken for a repair/replacement :-)

I bought this seeing it had a ten year warranty as I've had it a few months ( about 6) I don't keep all receipts. Well the soil I have is called wallum, a soft sandy soil and I came across a tree root runner about 20mm round......snapped the handle clean at the screw hole. What happened to quality?
Purchased 2 of these shovels and didn’t even wear the stickers off before both the handles broke in the same spot by the collar.
I brought one about 5 yrs ago (maybe the quality has changed in the newer ones with the comments below), but mine has been thrashed and still good to go. I have dug dozens and dozens of post holes (600-800mm deep), and moved tonnes of material (road base, soil, sand, gravel, etc) and could not fault it. I have used it so much, the right hand position (top hand on the handle), has a worn in indentation in the handle from use. Yeah, handle will eventually snap/deteriorate, but when you think about it - will the other brand with a green head last 2 x longer (being 2 times the price?) - I guess we will never know, but I am more than happy with my shovel for $24.
I bought this on Thursday afternoon and the handle broke within 2 minutes of use digging plants out in the garden.Save your money and get a better one.
As others have mentioned, the handle snaps when performing any task more strenuous than leaning against it during smoko. Should not be purchased with the expectation that it might be able to undertake any kind of shovel-related work.
The face dosn't have enough angle to remove dirt from a post hole and the handle broke the first hole that I used it on.
not great at all, wooden handle snapped after first use on medium density digging in light clay. would not recommend. i would recommend a fiskas steel long handled shovel instead.
