Splatoon 3 offers a smooth and refined experience filled with enjoyable gameplay and mechanics. The game runs smoothly and is graphically pleasing in all aspects. Nintendo does an A with this title and really captures the heart of gaming. The only room for improvement I could suggest at this point for the game, would be the addition of a local on-unit multiplayer. As it stands, the game includes multiplayer between consoles - as is popular in this age of shooter, but which misses out on some of the best old skool fundamentals of gaming - playing with a bunch of friends on their system and spending hours chatting and having in-person fun. It's still possible with multiple games and systems, but there are many more limitations in that approach.A

I played Splatoon 2 on the Switch and had a lot of fun with that game, and Splatoon 3 adds to that. I really like how the game implements motion controls in combat. My issue with this game comes from the online. The game tends to disconnect frequently, so I spend a bunch of time in the lobby trying to get into a match. When it works well, it's fine, but I found the problem to happen way too often. I haven't played since the first month or so after the game's launch, so I'm not sure if that problem has been resolved, but I haven't heard otherwise. With that being said, you should consider getting it if you like Splatoon 2, and people who may have not played a Splatoon game before would like it just the same.

If you don't keep up with this game constantly you will be behind in all online matches and it really looses its appeal quick. The story is decent but doesn't really pull you in.It is fun to play with other friends but you all need your own switch and copy of the game and it really feels lacking without couch co-op - with has been the storyline with this entire franchise. The splatfest idea is cool though and this does add a few more things besides just splatting paint everywhere so it was a decent update from splatoon 2. Still - there are a LOT of games to spend your time with and it is hard to recommend this as one of them.

I remember being excited for Splatoon when the first game was announced over 10 years ago. I have been playing every game in the franchise for over a decade and got the first game the day it came out in May 2014. The second game came out and showed people how much more the franchise can expand and evolve. The third game has done this very well. I love this game to put it simply. It is one of Nintendo's most enjoyable franchises and shows how the company is still the dominant player in the entire video game market to this day. The only issue I had with the third game is the story mode which was very good, but felt lacking compared to the second game. Overall Splatoon 3 is a really fun game that many will enjoy but it doesn't do enough to improve. The game plays exactly the same as the previous game and includes many of the same maps and game modes. They did however add 2 new weapon types, a new mode called tableturf, made the announcement optional, and 24 hour salmon run. These are some welcome changes but tableturf is a card game that is it's own thing. Tableturf is fun to play and I think many will enjoy it but it I can see it being avoided by most players. It plays sort of like tetris and that you are placing blocks except you can place them anywhere on the board. The objective is to have more of you blocks taking over the "turf" at the end of the match. The objective is to have more of you blocks taking over the "turf" at the end of the match. It's a fun side distraction, but most will gravitate towards the lobby. The campaign feels like the Octo expansion and is enjoyable but these feel more like little side missions than anything else. There is no real story here and it serves more as aguide to get you acustomed to how to play Splatoon. It would have been nice if Spaltoon 3 allowed you to change weapons mid map or at least while in the lobby, but oonce you select you loadout, there is no way to change it unless you quit the lobby and re-enter. Unfortunate that this is still the case. Many can argue that there was no need for this release since everthing it included could have simply been updated as there isn't enough content here to justify a sequel. I have to agree with this statement. All in all, this is a very good game and if you enjoyed Splatoon 2 then you'll enjoy this one as well.

You can customize your locker with stickers, change the color of the locker, add in items such as weapons, clothes, knick knacks, etc.New Weapons and Specials:There are 2 new class weapons. The Splatana and the 3-string bow. There a new specials that are exclusive to Splatoon 3 and a few returning specials from Splatoon 2. The weapons are better balanced than it was in Splatoon 2.New Tableturf Mode:They added a brand new mode called Tableturf. It's a card game. It's a bit weird at first, but it's actually kinda fun. You're basically playing Turf War, but in card game form. There are brand new maps and returning maps but the returning maps have been altered for a bettling online experience. One returning map is Maui Maui Resort from the first Splatoon game. It's been revamped quite a bit that I didn't even recognized at first. But overall, it looks much better. Of course, Nintendo plans on brining more maps in the future.Better Salmon Run:Salmon Run is better, too. Instead of waiting for it to become available at certain times, you can now go into Salmon Run at ANY time. Plus, there a couple of new maps for Salmon Run, and one returning map. New salmonid bosses. And most importantly, you can now throw the salmon eggs! This is a BIG game changer. You couldn't do this in Splatoon 2. You can either throw the eggs into the basket or throw them to your teammates that are closer to the basket. Also, they've added a new Xtra Wave mode (when you fill up a meter) to face King Cohozuna - which is a brand new huge salmonid boss.We also have 3 brand new idols that give out the news and when the next map rotations are. Their names are Shiver, Frye, and Big Man! They are great! During the game, you do get to know them better - which makes me like them even more.Splatfest:Splatfests make a return as well. This time around, when you're walking around Splatsville with the Splatfest theme, they really make it feel like an actual festival. More so than the other previous Splatoon games. So, now we have 3 different teams. They also introduce a brand new mode for Splatfest. A Tri-color Turf War! Depending who's taking the lead during Splatfest, the other two teams will battle the winning team in this 3-way tricolor turf war.Big Run:There's another new special event called Big Run that's coming soon to Splatoon 3. It's a new event where the Salmonids invade the turf war maps and you have to defeat them.Turf Mode & Anarchy Mode:Turf War is basically just inking the whole map. Anarchy Battle has a few different modes.New Abilities:Splatoon 3 has added two new abilities that your Inkling or Octoling can do. Squid Roll and Squid Jump. Squid Roll is when you swimming forward, but if you flick the control stick the opposite way and while pressing down the B button, it will cause your character to Squid Roll and it also acts as a parry attack. Squid Jump is when you are swimming up a wall, press and hold ZR button and then let go once your character gives a flash indicator to let go of the button. Your character will quickly swim up the wall and jump up in the air.Rainmaker, Tower Control, Splat Zones, and Claim Blitz. These modes also received some improvements as well. With Rainmaker there are checkpoints - which is very helpful. Claim Blitz - you only need to collect 8 claim shells instead of 10 - which is very helpful because you would collect so many claims only to lack 1 or 2. So, I say that's an improvement. The cool thing about playing online is that they've changed how people respawn. Every player has their own spawning point that is placed high into the air. This is good considering how in Splatoon 1 & 2 you would have people camping around your base. Not to mention, there's only 1 respawn point. But in Splatoon 3, they've changed that.Story Mode:This mode is basically teaching you the basics of how to play the game. It took what was great about Splatoon 2's Octo Expansion DLC and applied it here. Which works really well. The story has an interesting plot twist and has a cool final boss. There are some people thinking that this is Splatoon 2.5 and that there isn't enough brand new content to justify this 3rd sequel. That it could have been just updated with Splatoon 2. I don't completely agree with this statement. but I do understand their concerns. If I were to guess, it's probably because that Splatoon 3 has been released on the same console and that it was released 5 years later. It's so weird because it doesn't feel like it's been 5 years since Splatoon 2. To them, it probably feels like Splatoon 3 was released too soon.As for me, I felt like they did make enough changes to justify the 3rd sequel. After playing it since September, I think it's a better experience, they made a whole lot of improvements that was lacking in Splatoon 2.Technical Issues:During the release of this game, there were some technical issues. Most of them were ironed out. but there are still a few bugs. Most of it is online disconnections. Nintendo is continuing to update the game to make it better. This also happened with the launch of Splatoon 2 until they were fixed. This is the minor gripe I have with the game, but I still enjoy the game.Overall, I would still recommend this game because it's a fun game to play by yourself or with friends. Whether if you're new to the series or just wanted to know if it was worth it. I say it's worth it.

I love the fluid gameplay and the vibrant colors that dominate this game! It makes for a fun experience no matter if you've played Splatoon before. The gameplay, visuals, and overal fun this game provides is gripping and can keep you interested for years to come! The only downsides I can think of are that it takes a long time to level up and buy gear, and online communication errors can occur from time to time. I think the game itself makes up for these shortcomings, though.

right off the bat i want to make it clear i love this game. i’m a big splatoon fan and i’ve played it a LOT since launch. gameplay across all modes is a step up from splatoon 2, so many quality of life changes, soundtrack is awesome, tons of stuff to collect, and i found the single player campaign to be fun and intriguing.HOWEVER there are definitely a few turn offs currently. connection errors are quite frequent and make starting a match demand a lot of patience. sometimes you’ll play without issue, but other times you’ll have to try and join a lobby several times before it actually works and you get into a match. matches mostly run smoothly once you’re in, but every once in a while there will be a random disconnection or some lag. so yeah, until that gets fixed, ... Moreright off the bat i want to make it clear i love this game. i’m a big splatoon fan and i’ve played it a LOT since launch. gameplay across all modes is a step up from splatoon 2, so many quality of life changes, soundtrack is awesome, tons of stuff to collect, and i found the single player campaign to be fun and intriguing.HOWEVER there are definitely a few turn offs currently. connection errors are quite frequent and make starting a match demand a lot of patience. sometimes you’ll play without issue, but other times you’ll have to try and join a lobby several times before it actually works and you get into a match. matches mostly run smoothly once you’re in, but every once in a while there will be a random disconnection or some lag. so yeah, until that gets fixed, you’ll need to have some drive to play the game. also it does feel a little lacking in stages and weapons. there are 12 multiplayer stages, including 4 from splatoon 2. if you’ve played that game, you might get a bit bored of playing those same stages over and over. there are plenty of weapons, but not a ton of options within each weapon class. but more stages and weapons are coming so it’s not bad for now. there should be large updates every 3 months for 2 years, with each one looking to include 2 maps, a new catalog of goodies to collect, and an unknown number of weapons. so the game will get much better on every issue i mentioned. i imagine it would take quite some time to get burnt out on the stages/weapons though. and if you don’t play the game a ton then the connection errors might not get on your nerves so fast.basically, great game with some turn offs that might be a big deal to casual players who aren’t sold on the game by now. if you have splatoon 2 already, maybe consider waiting a few months or more for 3. i’d hate for anyone to get permanently turned off from the game because some launch issues may sour the experience (which is otherwise fantastic).
