The French oven is a timeless standby for stews, roasts, soups, casseroles and other one-pot classics. Staub has perfected this tradition in our signature La Cocotte French Oven, the choice of some of the worlds best chefs. The traditional round design has self-basting spikes for continuous, natural basting. When your meal is ready, La Cocotte moves beautifully from the stove to your table. Its black matte enamel coatings make it indestructible and highly chip resistant and also keep it from discoloring. The cast iron cookware retains the heat beautifully, keeping the dish warm long after it's been taken out of the oven or off the stove. Staub's attractive appearance make it possible for the dish to go straight from the stove to the table.

This pot is everything I wanted it to be. I love my Staub frying pan and I love this Dutch oven just as much. Nothing sticks and it cleans up wonderfully. I could never say that about my Le Creuset! And at long last I can bake oval sour dough loaves. It was expensive and I’ve waited a very long time to buy it, but I got a fantastic deal and six months to pay it off. I couldn’t have done it otherwise. These pans are an investment and very much worth it, if you can manage it. You won’t be disappointed.

This 5.75 quart Coq au Vin cocotte sits on top of my cook top at all times. Absolutely stunning, and really add charm to my kitchen. Love the workmanship that goes into creating each pan, makes for a one of a kind piece. This cocotte is also great for just about every cooking technique. I've used this for, stewing, braising, deep frying, roasting and baking. Extremely versatile! The cast iron enamel does not need seasoning, and stays nice and shiny. The more it's used the less it sticks, so I use very little oil when cooking. The dark interior is also stain resistant, and really helps achieve nice color on both proteins and vegetable. The lid is nice and heavy, which helps keep all those great juices inside the pan by preventing escape and evaporation. Ordered this Dec.2020 in preparation for use in our new kitchen when it was finished. Finally 6 months later when the new gas stove came in we put it to use. It is very heavy to be sure. Most of the time I have someone stronger than me lift it in and out of the oven because bending and lifting it requires a better back than I have. I can lift it onto the stove top. It is recommended to not use on a glass cooktop so I didn't when we had ours. That said it cooks wonderfully on a gas cook top and convection oven. (I have a Bosch dual fuel now.) Roast chicken, Pot roast, stews and bean soups. The lid has little steam producing nodules on the under side and it really works. The meats come out so moist and evenly cooked. It seems to take less cooking time too. Absolutely ... MoreOrdered this Dec.2020 in preparation for use in our new kitchen when it was finished. Very versatile. These are heavy pans and require some strength but they are excellent cookware to add to ones assortment.

Can't go wrong with Staub
29 July 2018

This arrived last week and I've used it twice, it's perfect!! Lots of surface area for browning and high sides so nearly no splatter. Beef ribs on the stovetop last night were to die for. Best of all there is a lot of broth for stew or soup tonight.I just love Staub. All the benefits of cast iron without the hassle, no seasoning, no dirty pan sitting out. I always use a light coat of vegetable oil and let it heat up on medium-low for about 10 minutes or till I can smell the oil then add your oil of choice for browning or sauteing, a little butter for doing eggs and the pan becomes virtually non stick. If something sticks its because you didn't let it get hot enough. Cleans up as easily as ceramic or glass. If there is a food shadow a little Bar Keepers Friend ... MoreThis arrived last week and I've used it twice, it's perfect!! Lots of surface area for browning and high sides so nearly no splatter. If there is a food shadow a little Bar Keepers Friend polishing cleanser will take it right off, only use it on the dark interior of the pan, it will dull the exterior enamel. In the two years since I discovered Staub I've replace all my stainless steel, except for my sauce pans, with Staub and they all still look like they just came out of the box.The sesame is a neutral tan and compliments the rest of my collection which is the deep, dark red grenadine. At this sale price I couldn't pass it up.Someone said in a review that the lid did not fit tightly and I thought I had the same problem, but turning the lid around seems to have been the solution.

Consider the oval...
9 September 2023

This oval oven is excellent. It is super versatile. If you like to cook things that aren't perfectly round, this might be right for your kitchen! The nubs on the roof of the lid are very cool. The ability to self baste your homemade creation in flavorized raindrops is a game changer. You might feel like you're living in the future. But the fact that it is so low tech, you might even feel like it is an item from the past. It's a true heirloom quality piece that you will cherish for a lifetime, and if you take care of it, it is sure to last longer than that.

Great oval oven
26 June 2020

I have both the 4.25qt and 8.5qt oval Staubs in sapphire. The 4.25qt is great as it fits in my countertop oven with the lid on (regular knob vs rooster), and it is just big enough for a 4-5lb chicken/roast. It's a great size for my 2-person household, allowing for leftovers. You can brown on stovetop with ease on a regular burner in the 4.25qt. I'll note that you can put parchment paper between the lid and the roast to make cleanup easier. The 8.5 qt can of course fits twice that amount but requires 2 burners on the stovetop to brown. This pot is more suited to the preparation made in the full-size oven. It's great for gatherings and large roasts or full rib racks. The weight of the pot is substantial; it still fits in my oversized sink. Both sit on display in my ... MoreI have both the 4.25qt and 8.5qt oval Staubs in sapphire. My Favorite - Lifetime Investment
25 October 2021

Cooks amazing - checkDistributes heat - checkVersatile - checkBeautiful - checkI love this item! I love looking at it - I love cooking with it - it makes me so happy! I purchased at WS because I love the grenadine color for a farmhouse style kitchen. I leave it out on the stove because I use it all the time and it looks wonderful. The rooster really adds some style for that farmhouse look - but the regular knob is available as well. The innovative lid keeps moisture in. I have purchased more pots - but this is my hands down go to!You will never need to replace this! It is a lifetime investment and doesn’t disappoint!

Perfect for every kitchen
9 August 2022

I purchased this Dutch oven many years ago in grenadine and it has been a champ in my kitchen for at least 10 years (I know, I'm only now getting around to a review). It is such a great size and shape, I use it for so much from pot roasts, to stews, and of course Coq au vin it makes everything taste great. I call it my magic pot because it cooks everything so perfectly. The finish has held up great over the years and I've had no problems with it. I'm pretty sure it will be in perfect shape to pass onto my kids someday. I bought my chef son one in cherry red as a Christmas present. It's a true kitchen work horse.

Staub is enduring and makes cooking a delight!
21 January 2023

I started my Staub collection about 7 years ago and cooking is pure joy with these gorgeous vessels. I fell in love with the Marin, dark blue and have stayed with that myself, but I have purchased the cherry and other colors for family and they look amazing. So thankful for this set. Almost every meal my family eats is made at home. The Staub collection supports this commitment to health and beautiful family cooking and dining memories. I use these daily.
