The Staub oval gratin pan, makes simple foods taste great. Love the crispy edges the cast iron produces when used for macaroni and cheese, potato gratin, eggplant parmesan, and creamed spinach.Perfect size for two hefty sides, and makes my husband and I feel like we are dining in a fine restaurant. Love that I can prep dishes the evening before, and simply finish in a preheated oven without having to worry about shattering. Easy clean up, and is also dishwasher safe.

I've owned oval cast iron dutch/french ovens in the past and gifted them away due to lack of usage!After I watched Jacques Pépin's video for Maman's Cheese Souffle I fell in love with how effortless this pan looked. I then started seeing it everywhere!! Erin McDowell made cinnamon rolls in hers. I've seen beautiful chickens roasted in others. I knew I had to have it for all my fall and holiday casseroles and goodies.I now have this pan in THREE different sizes. They bring me so much joy and I'm so happy to have them in my collection!

This is my favorite oval dish for fillet of fish dishes. The size is suited for long fillets which you can start searing on the stove and finish in the oven. I like a buttery crumb topping. I am a big fan of these gratin dishes. I find them to be the best way to roast vegetables. The cast iron heats up, and cooks and browns on the bottom while the tops brown from oven heat. Also a favorite for Yorkshire pudding, Dutch baby and a fruit crisp.Terrific heating in Staub's gratins. Don't be fooled by the black inside and out; this is not your Grandma's cast iron. It is enameled outside which makes it very chip resistant. It is enameled inside which assures perfect browning, but it doesn't require seasoning.This is my go-to pan for au gratin potatoes. Nothing adds more flavor to food than being nicely browned. Im very happy with this cast iron roaster. The enamel coating means no seasoning and an easy cleanup. The matte interior lets fats and oils underneath allowing for superior browning and searing with an easy release. The natural properties of cast iron mean even heating and great heat retention. Its great for vegetables, amazing potatoes or a nice roast. I like to bring it right to the table to serve out of. The oval shape adds a softness over the traditional rectangle roaster design.
