I have used Stihl equipment for many years and three years ago decided to purchase my first battery powered piece of Stihl equipment. I purchased the HLA 65 battery powered extended reach hedge trimmer with a Stihl AP 300 battery. I purchased this trimmer for use around my home as I have a lot of shrubbery. It is always stored indoors at room temperature and I have only had to charge it about a dozen times. It has always performed well.......until this Spring. Now it will not take a charge. I truly hope that this is not a sign to come as I was hoping to buy more battery operated equipment as my gas powered equipment gets older. I've had the same gas powered blower for 20 + years and had looked at some battery powered blowers last fall; but I will hold off on any ... MoreI have used Stihl equipment for many years and three years ago decided to purchase my first battery powered piece of Stihl equipment. I bought two of these for my BGA100; one in July of 2019, the other a month later. Recently both failed. The first indication of a problem was when I'd insert them into my AL300 charger. The light would flash green briefly, then, nothing. I tried my AK batteries on it and they charged just fine. Long story short, I took them to my Stihl dealer, they tested them, said they were defective, and ultimately replaced them under warranty. I appreciate this, however I'm on edge now, wondering how long these will last. My original pair were stored with a 40 to 60 percent charge, within the ambient temperature range recommended in the manual. Stihl's battery tools are outstanding, however if the batteries don't last this obviously negates any positives associated with the ... MoreI bought two of these for my BGA100; one in July of 2019, the other a month later. I recently purchased the KMA 130R Kombi Electric, the AP300S battery, AL 300/500 charger with battery belt kit.I did this because I own 6 Kombi attachments and wanted to operate them quieter now that I live in a neighborhood, quit fooling with gas or moto mix and smoother power for precision control. It delivers the same or more power than my KM90R gas unit. I like it because there are 3 power settings. I can operate on the lowest power setting with my straight trimmer head with .105 string with great control.I’m happy because I did all trimming, including 100’ tree line, edging of my sidewalks, 200’, both sides of my 95’ driveway, about 250’ of beds. 50’ fence line & 80’ of grass weeds against the house. Then used my blower to blow off all side walks and ... MoreI recently purchased the KMA 130R Kombi Electric, the AP300S battery, AL 300/500 charger with battery belt kit.I did this because I own 6 Kombi attachments and wanted to operate them quieter now that I live in a neighborhood, quit fooling with gas or moto mix and smoother power for precision control. It delivers the same or more power than my KM90R gas unit. Cut the grass(mulching the edge clippings) then I ran the blower all over again for final clean up. ALL on 80-90% of ONE charge! (Charge time from 50-70 minutes for full charge from 5-10% power)With the precision control that this machine delivers, I feel like I will save money on my string as well. It seems like I can do a better job maintaining the line, especially when using the trimmer to edge the walks and driveway as I described. So this system delivers, and exceeded my expectations to do my whole yard on one charge. I have no doubt, based on my 10 years of owning a Kombi system that my hedge trimmers, cultivator, edger, and bed edger, will perform well. It’s definitely an investment.....several hundred dollars to go electric. For a homeowner looking at the system; don’t overlook electric it can make sense long term. I believe it delivers value but was overpriced. But I bought it anyway. The key will be how long the battery last etc.

I contemplated buying a battery saw for quite awhile. Since I own multiple other Stihl equipment, it was. no brainer to look hard at the Stihl. The Still was more expensive than competitors comparing comparable saw but I am more than happy with the decision that I made. The saw is light, very user friendly, holds a charge longer than I thought it would. It was a very good purchase.
I'm very happpy with my Stihl MS300 C, 18 inch chainsaw. The best performance. I think having to press the thumb button each time you saw is a bit excessive and not being able to utilize the adjustable power level without a specific battery is rediculous. Batteries cost too much too. But despite these complaints, Stihl is still my first choice of chainsaws.
Definitely notice the change in performance over the AP300 right from the get go. With the previous battery I would finish the lawn with a few minutes left one the battery. Now after finishing mowing the lawn I still have 2 bars of charge remaining to get on with other tasks without the need to re-charge first. Definitely worth the few extra bucks for me.
After about 2.5 years the AP200 battery no longer holds a full charge for either a lawn mow or trim. I replaced it with this one which works. The lifespan and price of Stihl batteries, in addition to the proprietary nature of battery tools needs work. Retail cost of 10x 3.6v Panasonic cells is about $150. Having to pay $375 for the Stihl proprietary system that doesn't seem to include much more than an charge LED is quite a premium. Cheaper battery storage with recycling options should be the goal, not making this a premium profit center.
This will be short and sweet because after all, it's a battery :) I never thought I'd take the plunge in to Cordless with Stihl, but I'm glad I did. Value for money and a battery that packs a punch. I'm not a commercial user, I just maintain our home, etc, but going for the AP system and the batteries, well worth it. The current Stihl promotion really helps also, so yes, I'll need a few more batteries rather soon.
I bought this about a month ago. Rep was very helpful when I purchased it. Performed about as I thought it would. Used only with the chain saw and have yet to use the kombi attachment. These batteries are way too expensive. I hope they last for a long time.
I bought this mower about three weeks ago, and could not be happier with the product. It is so much lighter than my old gas powered mower. I wanted the self-propelled model, because that was what I had, but have realized that the self-propelled part was to compensate for all of that extra weight.I have just over 1/3 acre and on the first use, I used the self-propelled feature as I had with my gas mower. This feature really shortens battery life. I got about 75% of my yard cut before the battery died. 30 minutes later I finished with no issues. I cut the grass again this weekend and purposely did not use the self-propelled function to determine actual battery life. I finished the yard with just over 1/2 charge left on the battery. Next cut, I will use the self-propelled fucntion only in the heavily graded back yard, by the lake only and should have sufficient battery to complete the task.I have learned that I was using the self-propelled function too much on the gas powered mower that is just not necessary with the electric mower. The only thing I would change, would be to make the lower handle (to keep the mower running) a different diameter, or shape, as it does start to dig into your hand after a while.Overall, a fantastic product. I have all Stihl yard equipment and could not be happier with the reilability, ease of use, and quality.
