I decided to add to my collection of Stihl chainsaws a smaller one since I am getting older and Ep everything is hard to do. I purchased a New MS 151 TC. The dealer filled it up with fuel and bar & chain oil and made sure it started And ran properly and off I went. It was certainly an expensive saw for such a small package but my back is worth it.When I got home I immediately started cutting up a branch that was on the side of my driveway. I was so happy with the weight and just a little disappointed in the power. After dinner I walked to the hedgerow to cut up another called branch and enjoy my new incredibly handy new saw. I cut through a couple of limbs and the blade kept stopping. I looked at the chain brake and everything seemed okay. I cut through a couple of limbs and the blade kept stopping. I looked at the chain brake and everything seemed okay. I made sure the chain was adjusted properly. Started it again and the same thing happened. I dug a little deeper and saw that not a drop of oil had been dispensed . I watched a bunch of YouTube’s and some suggested taking a bit of oil out of the reservoir. I tried that and no luck. Less than 24 hours after I bought the saw I returned it to the dealer for a refund. I wanted to keep it but after reading reviews about horror stories of new saws never being repaired in a timely manner I decide to keep the money in my pocket for now. I felt sorry for the dealer since a STIHL saw was worthless at that point and he started the day in the hole. I sure hope Stilh gets their act together . The dealer had no other new saws to offer me of the same model. I hate to look elsewhere because they are local, great people and fantastic to deal with. They said they are having a tremendously hard time getting saws. I see Stihl responds to complaints so I hope they can offer me a resolution and find another saw for me. I hate to change brands and even consider another brand because of all of the luck I have had up until now.

I had troubles getting acquainted with it at first. Learning to how to start it without flooding it. Learning the chain tension tendencies after different levels of use and heat. Now that I've figured it out....it's perfect. lol I never leave the ground with out it. Like all saws, keep it clean, don't keep the chain too loose or too tight especially. It's not all that powerful but it doesn't need to be when you are keeping it under 4-6" diameter limbs and such (Hardwood I keep the max cut diameter low and higher on the softer woods like Silvers and Tilia and such.) I can barely feel it hanging on my saddle. The small body keeps it from getting tangled up when I'm squeezing through tighter unions while climbing. Don't force it to do big limbs. I'm thinking about buying a second one so I can hand down one to the ground guys for refills and I can just take the other and keep moving. Take your time and get to know it. Let it get warmed and loose. Keep the chain nice and sharp. I think you'll be happy with it.

Purchased it because I wanted a light Farm and Ranch grade saw to handle saplings and for limbing before making primary cuts with our MS311 or 271. This is not a Farm and Ranch quality saw, it is a recreational/homeowner quality saw, at best. Flimsy plastic where metal is used on other Farm and Ranch models. It was set up by the dealer but has never run properly, constantly stalling and sometimes simply refusing to start. Waste of time and money. Such a contrast to our other Stihl saws.

Purchased this saw about 2-1/2 years ago. Love it lots, great for in- tree and climbing light to medium work. Now starts easily every time, usually three pulls or less. However some challenges if you buy this saw:1. Keep the spark arrester screen clean or remove (check local laws), refill using a screen funnel with fresh 89 or higher octane fuel.2. Always check and ensure the chain is oiled before using. I have had numerous clogging issues and had to fix on worksite ( hence my four star rating). At times I had to take off bar and chain to clean and even pressure Oiler to unclog!3.Always use good gloves with this chainsaw It is very light and maneuverable so be careful!
I made the mistake of buying this saw day before a large project, had running issues with it through the job. I know those things happen but the more I used it the manual return kill switch and non retained bar nut became annoying. Also non adjustable oiler it seemed to be over oiling often and had oil running from the saw. Would be a great saw with a few updated features but for that price I have higher expectations. Many better options out there even within the Stihl line.
Perfect chainsaw for a small woman with a lot off property full of trees. This is the 3rd Stihl product and 2nd Stihl chainsaw for me. I first purchased the MS 181 C because the chainsaws I had were too heavy and difficult for me to start, but my Stihl I had no trouble starting whatsoever and it was lighter. Only drawback was using it in tight spaces as freely as I wanted. (My woods are very thick/overgrown and I, thinning them out.).After a lot of comparing between a lesser expensive battery driven tool and the 151 the smaller chainsaw was soon clearly best choice for me. I have zero regrets in this purchase other than not buying it sooner!! I do a lot of outdoor work & various DIY projects and I wanted a small saw that I could use to cut both trees and also construction lumber, especially larger stuff like 4x4's, 6x6's, large posts and beams, etc, without needing to grab the big 461.I did a lot of waffling back and forth between the 150 and the 201 and ended up going with the 150 because it is so much lighter and more maneuverable, plus I was impressed with the performance of the 133 polesaw which runs the same size chain as the 150. I am very happy with it. It's not as powerful as the 201 but it's amazingly powerful for its size. And with the extra-narrow 1/4 pitch chain it cuts like a much bigger saw. After using it for a few minutes it wouldn't idle. If you throttle it a bit after cutting it'll idle but once it hangs on your belt for 10 seconds, it dies when you hit the throttle.Took it to the dealer, they tried to tune it but it still won't idle. They sent it off to Dallas, they took it apart and the crankcase had too much sealant that broke loose and tore up the cylinder.They sent me a new one that also will won't idle unless we keep the idle turned up to where it barely engages the clutch.The same thing happens with my ms250 that's also new. I bought this 2 weeks ago. I instantly ran good fuel through the tank. From the first tree it was used to now, it will not stay running. You let off the trigger, it dies. I took it in to get serviced. They adjusted the carb and yet it still dies. For the price this is completely unexpectable. For a little bit more money, I could of bought a 201The oiler is also out of wack. Tried to adjust it and it still throws tons of oil out.It's light and would be a great pruning saw of you didn't have to start it after every cut.
Bought a house with two extremely overgrown oak trees. I'm 70, wife convinced me we could cur a lot of dead branches and over hangers. This little saw is amazing and has cut through 10" branches. I had a Poulon prior to getting this lightweight saw. Couldn't start it at all and local repair shop said toss it. Our John Deere dealer told us of Still.Paid quite a lot of money for this thing but it runs and cuts like a charm. Note I live in Florida so I have access to very pure gas which will keep corn out of the machine.
