My wife and I are fossil collectors that work in a lot of hard formations. My gas circular saw has been my sole use because of the weight being more than my wife can handle. A recent episode with my cancer left my right arm limited to five pounds of lift. Since a large portion of our collecting is in limestone quarries we had to curtail some of our trips. A paleontologist friend told me about the TSA 230 he was using in his work and suggested I get one for my wife. At 12 pounds it was just what we needed. Every lady that sees her use it just has to stop and take pictures with their cell phones. The only problem so far is that the dust gets into the battery packs. I blow them out after every trip to prevent possible electrical problems.

I am a chimney builder, i have had my saw now for about 3 years and I still have the same 3 batteries that I bought.The batteries have lost a little bit of life but this is the saw I use 100% of the time and do not use anything else other than a hand grinder. I love this saw it was the best thing I ever bought for my masonry company. If I had to cut cobblestone all day then I would probably go to the gas power but the TSA cuts through cobblestone no problem. You just have to let the saw do the work and not push on it. You can push a little but be patient and let the saw cut the material it's all on the person handling it. What I typically do is at the end of the day I use my Stihl battery powered blower and blow the dust out of the batteries and the saw every day.

I am a mason going on 30 years. I have two gas powered Stihl saws and love them but there are times I can't use them like in doors, so I needed up picking up the battery power saw and have own it thr saw for over a year. It's light weight so taking it to cut a brick out anywhere is much better then my gas powered, cuts great with The right blade of course. When they brought it out from out back I thought they were bringing me a toy. There is no comparison to the gas power but if you're looking for something lightweight it doesn't have to cut more than 15 minutes you couldn't find anything better in fact I plan on buying another because it's light weight and small I find it better then my 7inch grinder. This saw is one of my favorite purchases I’ve ever made. Sometimes I don’t want to drag the old gas saw out. It’s loud and smelly. Haha. Cut hundreds of brick pavers the other day, just cycling out batteries. Cuts through sandstone and limestone like butter. Quiet and lightweight. Also purchased the weedwacker and leaf blower. Love them, too. Please come out with a demo hammer!
Had it 10 days and returned it. Not enough power to zip through 1.5 inch aluminum. Motor would stall- likely for self protection. Battery lasts about 12 min under hard use.Great concept but needs more power by FAR. Not a substitute for gas powered cut off saws.I own lots of Stihl stuff including batt powered pole saw and their chain saw. Those are excellent products. This cut off saw misses the mark in my opinion.Would work ok for light corrugated tin cutting or pvc pipe or other thin material. NOT for hard jobs.

Owned one in our rental department. Every customer who rented this saw absolutely loved it.Low noise, easy to start (just push the button), lightweight, easy, maneuverability. I’ve been on construction sites for 28 years and this is by far the best cut off saw I have ever seen on the job site.As a side note, our rental customers commented they were impressed with the battery life. We always sent two batteries and a charger with the unit. Most never needed the second battery.
I have been using this saw for 4 years now, bought a new one last year. It cuts great, great battery life but the batteries and chargers dont last long, meaning I have to buy new ones about every 6 to 8 months. I havegotten great use out of the saw and am happy for the purchase.
This makes quick work of small jobs. I use it to cut patches out of asphalt and concrete. Obviously not the power or capacity of a gas saw (my other saw is a TS700) but the TSA230 is so light and portable it’s the only saw I want to grab. I’m very pleased.
the tsa 230 is great. check battery. go to,town. it is expensive to own. multiple300 batteries. no pulling no mixed fuel dry or wet cut. friction. gets a little wicked with saw blade. but thats where the 160 chain saw comes into playcut like a pro with sharp blade for form work. and keep bar oil around and take downthem trees. have owned the gambit of stihl. from toys to 088 from ts 350 to 750. they all need constant work. these battery units are the best cost more than gas powered but no pulling to start. batteries are super reliable. really hold charge even in cold.
