Absolutely delicious, garlicky condiment I love with many foods - chips, fish, vegetables. Many competitor brands claim to be selling garlic mayo but only have one percent garlic content. Stokes has two percent garlic paste and quality ingredients including free range eggs. A more expensive choice but regularly goes on offer.

Whole jars of this devilishly delicious mayo seem to empty themselves swiftly after they are opened. Surely, surely, we have not eaten that much have we? Just a tiny dollop on those veggies, a little bit into that pasta . . . where did the rest go? No . . . no, tell me no one ate it directly with a spoon? Seriously lovely. Beware.

I usually really like Stokes products - but this was deeply unpleasant . It tasted very vinegary and cheap . It spoilt the food I was eating . I can’t use this again !

Bought this as it had a Great Taste Award. Wish I hadn't. Not sure the jar I had would have won any awards. It tasted bland but sweet, and also stale. Maybe I was hoping for great things but this didn't deliver. Back to Hellmans.
This is my current TOP choice. My dad used to work at a Mayo producing factory, so I consider myself a bit of a conaisseur ; - ) Sadly, that particular brand is not available right now so having diligenly worked my way through a range of alternative mayo's (most disappoint) I am very happy to have discovered this one.
The lids always seem to arrive loose despite having the plastic seal in place and sometimes this results in the product spoiling. Had similar issues with the chilli version, Good mayo, but the lids need attention.
I'm quite pleased with this garlic mayonnaise. It comes in a larger jar than I expected for the price. It is creamy and gently flavoured with garlic. It just misses five stars because it didn't really wow me in flavour. Possibly expecting the same depth of flavour as with my homemade aioli. Useful to have in the fridge though, lovely with cold chicken and lettuce in a sandwich, or to dip chips in.
How on earth are they allowed to promote this using the words 'made with extra virgin olive oil ....' when the ingredients list clearly then goes on to say it is made with 75% rapeseed oil and 5% olive oil. Such a shame from a company I had previously associated with high standards of food.
Lovely mayonnaise. Rich and creamy without tasting artificial or too cloying. Loses a point for Rapeseed oil which is highly inflammatory and one of the most heavily genetically modified crops. If it was organic rapeseed or sunflower oil it would be better. But this is still head and shoulders above the other brands.
This is not proper mayonnaise, it should not contain either flour or sugar, the olive oil content is far too low, and it is not a good idea to mix it with rapeseed oil as that has a strong competing taste; sunflower oil is mild, and, if an alternative oil is to be used to bring down the price, then that would have been a better choice. I am very disappointed that the only two really good alternatives to homemade mayonnaise, Maille and Delouis, both tried and tested, good, old-fashioned firms, seem both to have been withdrawn by Waitrose, while several other, new, gimmicky, brands have been added. I am all for buying British where possible,(I wonder if that is the reason?). But not when you cut out the only high quality offerings, which you have been selling for many ... MoreThis is not proper mayonnaise, it should not contain either flour or sugar, the olive oil content is far too low, and it is not a good idea to mix it with rapeseed oil as that has a strong competing taste; sunflower oil is mild, and, if an alternative oil is to be used to bring down the price, then that would have been a better choice. I think the time has come for a Number One mayonnaise, high, free-range egg content, min 30% olive oil (not virgin, far too strong and bitter), another mild vegetable oil, salt, pepper, mustard, lemon or vinegar, absolutely nothing else. If you are looking for a good, British supplier to make it for you, I can recommend Wiltshire Tracklements and Atkins and Potts)
