The positive is that you get most of the fighters so don't need to buy dlc.Very good game, fun with friends and for solo players; although it give its best with the online mode.

I was thinking of picking up VI. But I thought the price different is not worth it, I still think. Upgrading in a few months, practiced a lot, and saved quite some money.

I bought the Champion Edition plus the season 5 stuff and this is a big disappointment after SSF4AE. When starting the game for the first time it takes forever to even get into the main menu because it bombards you with user agreements and pop ups. You have to find a setting to turn off advertisements or you will be bombarded with those constantly too. There are loot boxes and you can grind in-game currency. What the ♥♥♥♥ is this? I thought this is a fighting game, not some mobile or live service ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.The game doesn't even have an intro. There are 2 intro videos you can watch in the gallery but they are very low quality. There's actually a story mode this time but it's another disappointment. Character stories are just 3 one round fights interwoven with crudely drawn pictures. The big story mode is a bit better and has at least real cutscenes, but the story is stupid and badly written, even for a fighting game story, and the cutscenes have lots of clipping when characters interact with each other.I can't say anything about the online stuff because I only play singleplayer stuff and the singleplayer experience was much better in SF4. And if you care a lot about graphics you will be disappointed too because SF5 looks almost exactly like SF4.

A decent game with several detractors

Now, I haven't played a huge amount of Street Fighter in my life. When it comes to fighting games, I tend to go for more casual stuff. Street Fighter is not like that, and it's very much mechanically focused on combinations and strategy to combat all types of characters. Now what I'm fond of particularly in fighting games is character design. So of course, I'd be looking for good characters!Which leads to a disappointment. About half of the cast is locked behind paid DLC. Many stages are as well, as are costumes. Now, luckily, all can be purchased with in game currency that you don't have to pay money to get. Buying a season pass negates any money you saved over buying the arcade edition, so if you intend to get all the items don't waste your time on the base game and buy the version that comes packaged with the season pass. All in all, sound game with all the modern horrors of paid DLC. At least Smash Bros. doesn't lock half the game behind paywalls.

Disappointing

I have been a fan of the Street Fighter series since I was a kid, playing Street Fighter II on the Suoer Nintendo. While Capcom has been known to endlessly update their games (Super, Ultra, Alpha, etc.) after release, by adding new characters, stages, and music, one thing that they have always shipped a game that was, by all standards, complete. That is not the case with Street Fighter V. Generally, a character's story mode will contain anywhere from 8 to 14 fights, each requiring the player to win a best-of-three rounds match. With this game, "story mode" consists of three one-round fights, with some comic/manga-style "cutscenes" in between. While the fights, in of themselves, were great, Capcom's changing the formula is far from it. Although they promise to release a proper story mode and more characters as an update/expansion over the upcoming summer months, it is inexcusable that Capcom is charging the full price for this game, when it is, admittedly even by Capcom, incomplete. Although I went into this purchase aware that the game wasn't complete, it wasn't very clear just how little this game actually includes. Speaking of inclusion, while the some of the central, staple characters (Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, M. Bison, Vega, Dhalsim, and Zangief) are present, other Street Fighter mainstays have been removed from the game (Blanka, Sagat, Balrog, Guile). Capcom has stated that these characters will be available down the line, but surely they will demand a premium price for the DLC. If I was not such a loyal fan of the series, I definitely would have either skipped this one, or at least waited until it was completed. The figure and art boom that are included with the Collector's Edition, however, are very nice and of very high quality. It is with all of the above in mind that I would say that this game is not recommended, however if Capcom were to release an update soon, including everything that is missing, for free, than I would most definitely change my answer.

Quite The Learning Curve

This is my first time playing a Street Fighter game, not including when I played the older titles in the arcade. I am already a fan of other fighting games and I really wanted to try this one out. With a huge roster of characters because it includes the dlc from season 1 and 2 and a downloadable story add-on, it is worth it. Practice is key! For example, critical arts are more than just pressing two buttons such as having to do two quarter-circle forward motions and any punch attack. Took me a while to find my niche with certain characters and being able to pull off combos consistently, but there is a tutorial, demonstrations, and combo challenges. However, I do appreciate that the developers decided to include an actual story rather than the individual story slides when completing the arcade with a character.

I was able to find an opponent in a matter of seconds on few occasions while other times took several minutes.Content: 16 fighters with only a few stages. You can purchase additional fighters with fight money (virtual currency earned in the game 100,000 each) or by purchasing the season passes. Stages are only purchasable with fight money (prices vary from 40,000 to 75,000).Gameplay: Unlike most fighting games that provide 4 attack buttons, Street Fighter V provides 6 attack buttons. 2 low, 2 medium, and 2 high with each degree containing punches or kicks. Combinations are bit difficult to master but achievable once you find a fighter that fits your play style.Overall, Street Fighter V is a solid fighting game. If you're interested in learning to play the game and take your skills online, this game is a solid buy. However, if you are looking for a single-player experience, Street Fighter V does not offer much and are better off with another game.

Its amazing to think that when I was a kid the Street Fighter 2 was something you could only play in the arcades with your quarters. This brings the series back to its roots and allows even the newest of players to pick up their sticks and compete against some of the best, okay not quite but its come back from the combo and air juggle style Street Fighter 4. It does sort of fall short as far as the characters and additional content at the initial release and the online fight system can be truly annoying when it fidgets at the worst time, but it shows great potential as a core of whats coming very soon.Enough about the actual game and lets get to why this set was actually purchased, the extras. For the price you pay the extra $30 you get way more than you paid for. The statue has to be one of the best looking statues I have seen in any collectors set and it is definitely on par with some of the $100 statues that you can find out on the market. The details on Ryus face are spot on and his Gi even better. The depth and details aren't just painted on either, they are carved and sculpted into the statue itself. I believe its made from PVC which isnt as resilient as Resin cast statues but you're not gonna be play house or throwing it across the room. The statue was already worth more than you pay for but they also give you a little artbook that shows the character design process which is neat to see. The new characters are showcased in the book a lot more and show how they came up with the character to how they were actually brought out to look. DLC included are a few digital comic books, which includes the backstory to Nash (or Charlie its all the same) and a 5 track sample from the in game music.Overall 5 out of 5 just because it is very reminscent of the older games and represents something that may not need but will of course eventually lead to more renditions to this sequel (Super, Ultra, Mega, Arcade, etc. Edition.) But the bones and the soon to come updates and additions will surely make this game shine.

Street Fighter V is 1 part great game, 2 part DLC gimmick

Street Fighter V is 1 part great game, 2 part DLC gimmick. It plays great, I think an improvement in some respects over IV, with a great short story mode for all characters and surprise stage finishes (you will know what I mention if you bump into these fun surprises). The characters are fun and there's a ton of potential. The incredibly huge problem is this game requires network access and is half finished. You cannot use more than half the game unless you update the entire package (will not allow network access on the old SFV main screen dashboard). I just purchased the base game used and as of 06-29-22 it had a HUGE 25GB update, which at first surprised me as it automatically updates to the Champion Edition (!!!) of the Game with the dashboard now giving you an ... MoreStreet Fighter V is 1 part great game, 2 part DLC gimmick. The characters are fun and there's a ton of potential. The incredibly huge problem is this game requires network access and is half finished. You cannot use more than half the game unless you update the entire package (will not allow network access on the old SFV main screen dashboard). I just purchased the base game used and as of 06-29-22 it had a HUGE 25GB update, which at first surprised me as it automatically updates to the Champion Edition (!!!) of the Game with the dashboard now giving you an Arcade mode (you play online and can have a high score posted for a month before reset) and a store for access to download I think 22 characters (you have the 16 core characters included). The problem lies in how you access the game content. It's not like the older SF games where you beat the game once you get a character or reach a certain condition; you have to earn "fight money" to purchase characters, stages, costumes, etc. The system for making fight money is incredibly vague, conditions and amount is ambiguous. When you beat a story mode story you get around 8000 credits but to buy a character with it you have to basically complete the entire story mode as a single character costs 100,000 credits. Does not sound bad if you keep playing the story mode but as I understand, at least initially, you cannot get any more fight money if you replay the story mode to get credits (I even had to re-beat half of it as I played 8 characters before the update completed so it does not work retroactively and had to replay each of those 8 stories to get those credits). So how else do you get credits then? I understand you can get them if you play survival mode but I played 22 characters before losing with no credits received (maybe you have to complete it?). You have to wait for characters to load so it takes a loooong time to play and replay to attempt to win. I I tried arcade mode but no credits given either. I read you can win 50 credits per online ranked challenges (that little?) but to play this online mode you have to pay for the Playstation Plus online package which is like Netflix, about $120 to $200 or so per year (or monthly subscription). Instead of winning the characters you can pay $6 for each character (I think around $132) or you can just pay $30 and buy a new champion edition download orphysical copy with a download code (* BE AWARE YOU CANNOT USE A USED COPY CODE AS IT IS REGISTERED TO THE ORIGINAL OWNER). So in short if you are not paying for online play you are left with a game with play options that are less than half available. Don't get me wrong, this is a great game and I love the Street Fighter series. I used fight money won from beating the whole story mode to purchase a character and then you get their story mode which is great too (just as I would hope ^_^). But as mentioned everything is vague. It's really a shame because instead of enjoying this like the arcade game it is I am more concerned about how I can "earn" money to play it to it's fullest. I just introduced my brother too it just to be surprised you cannot play more than half the characters. DLC was silly fro M vs C 3 but that was only 2 characters. I don't need dopey trophy goals and other mission nonsense that doesn't actually affect how the game is played. It reminds me of how stupid it was to unlock Guile as a secret character in Alpha 3, I think you had to play so many matches or wait 48 hours for him to become unlocked. This is a million times worse. It's a terrible shame because otherwise it's a terrific game. The idea to upgrade to Champion Edition dashboard and to allow players to win characters is great if it were not bogged down by this confusion and difficulty. Maybe there is an easier way but I don't see it or it's not clear how to do that. Some of us just want to play the game, not live it. Just remember it doesn't have to be this way.
