Firstly, I have owned two of these Sunbeam Cafe Series Coffee Machines over the preceding 16 years. It was an obvious choice to upgrade to a new model.NOW, I obviously looked on line for the best price and Good Guys matched the price. Ordered & paid for it on line. Picked up at Noarlunga (SA) branch. Unpacked, followed instructions on the box lid, added water and then followed the Get Started card. Got to step 3 and the two additional lights (signifying that the boilers are ready to use) did not light. Repacked, returned to store, they checked it - yes NOT WORKING. They confirmed that the unit was not working and gave me a 'product return' number. Repacked, returned the unit to Marion store. Requested, and was given, a refund. In the meantime I have had an electrician check the power points involved. All checked out perfectly. To add salt to the wound I live rurally so over 440kms was the accumulated mileage. In the vernacular 'NOT HAPPY JAN'

I have been using the EMM7200BK at home for a month now, being already familiar with it as we have one in the office where I work. It is an awesome coffee machine: great build quality, professional looking and sleek. Price wise it is a fair bit above entry level, but it comes with premium features and aesthetics that are missing from the cheaper units. It takes few attempts to get the prefect pour based on your bean choice, grind coarseness and tamp pressure - but once you get it right once the shot can be replicated every time. The crema is perfect, and you can customise the shot volume if you prefer it different to the pre-programmed single and double shot. There is a handy pressure gauge which tells you when you’re on the money! Milk frothing is super easy and there is a gauge for that too - when in the green your milk (or non-cow alternative) has that beautiful silky texture.I upgraded from a Sunbeam Barista Max machine which had a built-in grinder, but I was happy to sacrifice that to make way for the Dual Thermablock system which allows you to pour a shot and froth milk at the same time - handy when you are trying to make multiple cups or rush out the door. This to me is the machine’s best feature and one I would now not do without. You can use pre-ground beans in this machine but to me that is sacrilege, so I have since acquired a Sunbeam Café Series EM0480 Grinder, which is the perfect pairing.I would 100% recommend this machine. It looks amazing on my kitchen bench, and it performs flawlessly once you work out your ideal setting and technique, which as I said earlier only takes a few attempts.

There were no problems and it worked very well.So sadly I’m inclined to think there is some sort of design / manufacturing issue. Unfortunately the customer service people as helpful as they are don’t actually have the item in front of them to test it live as they speak to you. I tried uploading a video of how I operated the cleaning cycle however the the link they sent me wouldn’t upload the short video I created. I offered to do it live on FaceTime but that didn’t seem to be acceptable.I was asked to video again using a lower resolution but the link has not been sent to me and I am getting a little tired of this.I hope it is not a manufacturing issue.

The coffee machine is easy to use and gives me a kind of a work coffee machine vibe..but on a smaller scale. It looks stylish and easy to get started. It wouldn't prime itself initially, but since then it works fine. I've not yet perfected the milk frothing at home but we are not using any dairy milk. The gauge is handy but less necessary than I thought it would be, because I know what is wrong with the pour as a barista. There is a fine line between wasting coffee and getting the perfect shot quickly. It's almost there now, after trial and error with the grind and beans.Enjoying daily oat cappuccino now:) Fast delivery.
I have just upgraded to the new Cafe Series Duo Espresso Machine, my wife and I had the previous model the EM7100 which also did capsules. Having the capsule option at the time sounded good but we never used that feature. Having had the model for 4 years we figured instead of having it serviced we will sell it and but the new one.We have used this coffee machine for a month now and in comparison to the old model it heats up way quicker, by the time I have grinded my coffee and have got the milk out of the fridge it is ready to go. Furthermore, I really like the new design, the old EM7100 looked great clean but you had to stay on top of it, this one with the black top it seems less maintenance to keep the fresh clean look.It is VERY easy to perfect your coffee with the machine, I know exactly how I like my milk (hot) and so I go just above the green zone on the milk frothing side each time and nail the temperature. For some reason I feel like this new model has more margin for error in the frothing stage that prevents making bubbles, no one likes bubbles in their milk. The coffee filtration dial is also handy as visually sometimes it looks like it went through well but the dial ensures it does each time without the need to inspect the filtered coffee yourself, simply watch the dial, green means you're going to have a good day.I have not used the program dial yet for cleaning and maintenance but with the old model I always had to look up which exact buttons to press, happy this new model is simply a program button. The only thing I can say with the previous model being better is the actual buttons felt more firm than on this new model where the buttons have a little bit of play when pressing them but other than that the heating time, frothing time and overall look is better on the new machine. Overall, happy I have the new one!
I have basic coffee making skills from my time working in hospo and I learned how to make coffee in a professional machine, so can tell the difference between a professional and a home one. I’ve used quite a few home machines since and can honestly say this is the best one so far. It makes beautiful coffee with perfect crema and perfect temperature. The machine comes with a pressure gauge to help you achieve the perfect shot. You may need to adjust your grinder settings and tamping pressure to find the right balance for the perfect extraction. The steam wand produces great quality froth and perfect temperature milk due to the temperature gauge, which allows you to control it according to your taste. Design wise, it’s all compliments. I have owned 2 of these Coffee Machines over the last 17 years. Loved the product. Loved the coffee making - with duo boilers you could froth the milk at the same time that the coffee was brewing.HOWEVER when I went to purchase my third machine - I SERIOUSLY THINK that there is a bad batch out in the market place. I purchased/returned 3 separate units and all would not proceed past Step 3 in the startup routine. Worked with Sunbeam direct, they were pleasant but they confirmed that all 3 were u/s upon startup. I live rurally in SA and had to travel, each time, to Adelaide to pick up each unit. Over 400 kms travelled. I even had my electrician come to my home to confirm that the power point was OK (which it was). Big money spent - end result I bought a different ... For the price I paid (which was a deep discount), I don't think you can get a machine like this anywhere else. The fully brass group head collar takes abuse that would crack most domestic machines in half; the steam wand feels almost like a commercial machine; the included filter baskets are of perfectly acceptable quality and the portafilter accepts VST filter baskets no problem. The fact that you can program the brew temperature, pre-infusion and automatic shot volume takes this machine from good value to a true standout in its price range, even at full price. If you can get it on sale it becomes a one-of-a-kind deal.If you want to get the most out of specialty coffee at home - particularly lighter roasts - this machine, a compact digital scale and a high ... 3 weeks of use and overall this, my first owned expresso machine lives up to expectations, though it took a while to for me to get good results. I have a Breville Pro Grinder and after much frustration and coffee used in testing, I found I had to set the internal grind adjustment to it's minimum, and use 2 out of 60 on the displayed grind settings - in other words - really fine, in order to get 'optimal' pressure with the standard baskets. The machine is quite compact and the quick warm up and dual heating system allow quick preparation times because you can brew and steam at will - this is very easy to get used to. The steam is very powerful and combined with the milk temp sensor makes it simple to get good results. Output taste is excellent and just short of the best I've ever had anywhere, though I'm only using Aldi beans with unknown roast date atm. I expect the taste output will be even better with the next batch of premium beans I buy. I contacted Sunbeam when I couldn't get optimal pressure, or find the cleaning pin (it's in the flip up storage compartment BTW), and they replied promptly and helpfully. The unit is quite robust in general (esp. the grouphead) compact and good to look at, but has some practical design short-fallings, hence 4 out of 5 stars. One of those is that the steam wand at neutral position doesn't line up exactly with the allocated hole in the drip tray, so purged steam oversprays, and any water already in the drip tray splashes out because of the high pressure blast. This could easily be fixed with a large, well designed (and aligned) mesh with holes shaped to allow steam to go in but restrict water coming out. The drip tray is polished stainless steel and scratches easily - no doubt chosen over brushed for the looks. A mug has to be tilted to get it into place but can be done. The tamper doesn't fit snugly in the basket and it's a bit on the light side. Yes, as others have said, the buttons and levers are a bit sloppy and plastic-ey but it's not a commercial machine, so careful handling is advised. If you want to re-program settings (e.g. temps or standby time) the manual isn't clear that you only have to press multiple buttons for a moment, in a sequence, not hold them - took me a while to figure that out too - duh. These are all minor points - none of which are evident in promotional videos - of course. It makes me wonder if the designers actually try the finished machines. Not a unique situation though - I have a top of the range Honda Lawnmower and it also has basic design and function flaws that almost defy understanding in light of the size and history of the company. Again, I suspect too much CAD/styling/cost cutting, and not enough product testing.Bottom line - yes, recommended as worth it, and the results can be excellent. It's hands on enough to allow you to pretend you're a Barista, but simple enough (with practice) to give very good results even if you're not. I'm hopeful it will last a long time, as have ALL of the Sunbeam appliances I've ever had (some are now decades old and still going strong),Likewise, the buying experience with The Good Guys was excellent. After contemplating purchase for a long time, umming and aahhing and resisting the buying urge over numerous sales, I did a random search one day and found this machine online at an alternative supplier for a lowest ever price. I then phoned the 'Pay Less' number and they matched the price! Ordered and ready for pickup in and hour. With the saving on the purchase price, I bought the Gold Concierge @ $125 for 5 years Warranty and store credit @ 3x$20/year for 5 years $300 along the way.
A really nice slick and modern design. We have a small kitchen so were conscious of taking up too much bench space, this compact machine fits really well without taking up too much space. The smaller size definitely doesn’t mean a compromise in flavour. Very impressed by the smooth, café-quality coffee this machine has produced and really looking forward to getting my favourite St Dreux coffee beans in there and giving them a try.In terms of usability it’s really easy and all of the level and temperature gauges take the guess work out of the DIY coffee making.
