Quite disappointed with what I thought would the new and improved model. Last one I bought lasted longer than 10hrs. Alas it was not the case. Whilst the suction cups on the bottom are great - not so much when trying to slide it away in a cupboard for storage. When it comes to use the overhead is so bulky and the bowl high that you need to stop the mixer and lift the heaters to add ingredients. It’s all very tragic.

Would be good if control knob had a white mark to show position, it has a little groove but is very hard to see. Also my older model had the speed stages listed as well as numbered. Beating, creaming, whipping etc this one just has speed number. They’re only little things but each model should be an improvement on the next, don’t forget about the little things.

Only had this for a few weeks but already has come in use for multiple things. I have recently attempted some childhood romanian cakes and never turned out right as the creams require ling periods of mixing. This has been amazing. Also used for kneeding dough and general mixing where my cheap hand mixer just cant do the job at hand.

I bought this as I my Mixmaster was over 40 years old and I was cooking larger quantities/double mixtures eg ginger bread houses, and needed a stronger mixer. My experience hasn’t been good and I was disappointed as I have always been a Sunbeam fan. I am a country cook and consequently am used to baking heaps for hungry mouths on our farm.1. It takes twice as long to whip cream or cake mixes.2. Doesn’t have a smaller bowl so you have to completely clean the bowl before starting the next job which is a nuisance.3. Managed to cover myself and the kitchen in egg, flour and cocoa powder when switching it on too fast, never had that happen with my old Mixmaster.4. I repeatedly jam my fingers in the opening/closing mechanism.5. Have used my friend’s mixer (different brand) and it was so much easier and quicker to use plus has two bowls to choose from.7. I avoid using this unless I absolutely have to.8. Okay for very large quantities - I suppose!
After extensive research of other stand mixers brands, we found the Sinbeam to be best suited to us. Other makes were too big or had too many refurbished seconds on the manufacturers website indicating poor quality. The Sunbeam is perfect for our needs. Mixtures are even and the design ensures all ingredients are included and not left on the bottom or sides. No need to buy the expensive brands. This does the job and looks great on the kitchen bench.
I am not impressed by my first use of this machine. I have owned Sunbeam Mixmasters for decades so happily bought this larger version. It failed dismally just to cream butter!! I hope other functions are more satisfactory. My next test will be to knead bread dough a function very ably performed by my old ,now defunct Mixmaster.
I bought the mixer to use for doughs and chocolate, the advertisement stated it comes with a dough hook. The slowest setting for this mixer however is wayyyyy too fast to kneed or mix anything apart from egg whites. Very disappointed as I already had a $60 Kmart mixer that performed better (albeit plastic).
I'm one of those people who has used hand beaters for baking my entire life. I finally decided to get a stand mixer, assuming it would make baking that much simpler and more enjoyable. It doesn't appear to be the case. To be fair, I've only used the machine once, to mix a fairly standard cake recipe. Compared to using a hand beater, I found the stand mixer:1. Messy. The recipe required flour to be added in batches, and every addition resulted in a cloud of flour over the benchtop and floor - regardless of the speed. I didn't try stopping the mixer and adding the flour, which may address this issue - but how inconvenient, if that's the case.2. Fiddly. The beater/scraper is no good for creaming egg and sugar (the standard start to most cake recipes) and the whisk is no good for beating batter. So you have to change halfway through. See Point 1 - Messy.3. Tricky to add ingredients. You can't easily add ingredients into the bowl while mixing. I had to alternate between banana, flour, buttermilk and coconut. See Point 1 - Messy for the flour. The buttermilk was easily added from a jug, but the coconut and banana had to be spooned in, as the lip of the container would hit the edge of the bowl if you tried to pour it.4. Hard to clean (and it needed cleaning! There was flour in every crevice). There are a lot of nooks and crannies that need to be cleaned - it was a bit of an epic affair wiping the machine down when I finished.Look, it did the job - beat the batter while I was able to do other prep at the same time. It was quite stable (despite a fairly plasticky feel, especially the lever that lifts the beater head. I suspect that won't have a long life). For the price, it does what it needs to do. I'm just not sure I'll lug it out of the cupboard for every cake. Maybe just the ones that require long periods of beating.
Brilliant service as always from Appliances Online. Unit works as expected, pretty powerful and sturdy. The whisk sits a little high in the bowel and the scraper doesn’t scrape the sides all that well. Bowel is pretty light, I’d prefer glass/ceramic. This is my first mixer so don’t have a reference. It is soooooo much better than hand mixing though! My cookie/tiramisu game has definitely elevated with this unit. Oh and it’s black!
This is a great unit we bought when our underpowered mixer fell off the twig. Having just got a pizza oven this unit easily handles pizza dough... don't try and overdo it with too much at once. The scraper beater is a great attachment and mixed up icing easily. It's solidly built and doesn't wander around even when taking on dough. A fantastic value for money mixer without the kitchenaid price. Do yourself a favour and grab one.
