I enjoy using this mandoline. The blade is sharp and slices well. The adjustment dial does its job. The finger guard that comes with it does not have long enough prongs to grab and hold the food. I purchased some safety gloves which I wear when I am using the mandoline.

The protrusions allow for a closer shave so it is much more effective, while still guarding my hand. It is difficult to set the desired thickness reliably. It's guess work. There are no markings to indicate thickness. The Mandoline is made from quality plastic and does a great job cutting even slices. But the limitations mentioned above mean I am still looking for a Mandoline with an effective hand guard that has a reliable indicator for thickness.

Absolutely what I have been looking for , for many years. To slice vegetables to half a mililimtet is brilliant especially for making roses and other flowers
I ordered a BN-120W where the 'W' stands for White. What turned up was the beige model. It was still the Jumbo and it works no issue, very good in fact. I couldn't be bothered with the hassle of returning so kept it.But still, not exactly what I ordered hence 4 not 5 stars.
Although big sharp and scary the mandoline is rather light and easy to use. Adjusting the thickness of the slice is a matter of trial and error but you'll soon get the hang of it. When slicing don't exert heavy pressure. A light touch usually works best. Use the finger guard!
Loving the extra-wide version of this indispensable and best-of-class tool. The regular version, which weve used for years, isnt up to the job for the biggest items like large potatoes and onions. You can work around that using the smaller ones by cutting these items in half, but there are times you dont want to. The new design has been improved, most notably with its cutout for remaking fixed to a bowl. And the silicone finger protector is superior to the old hard plastic one. Nits: while the single, large knob for adjusting cut height is potentially faster, its actually more difficult to turn than the older dual thumbscrews were. And the Benriner, while worth its price, could be cheaper. It isnt a complicated product.
I have a narrower Benriner with the extra attachments, but I wanted this one for cabbage and other wide vegetables. Dont believe anyone that says this sags in the middle. Its very sturdy. This worked like a champ, making very consistent slices. I love the angled notch on the bottom as it allowed me to rest the slicer on top of a large pot without it sliding around. The finger guard seems to work better on this version compared to my older one. Maybe the larger size helps. Theres more teeth to hold the vegetable in place. Still, I use a cut-resistant glove when starting out and dont use the finger guard until the vegetable gets smaller.
Brilliant piece of equipment, leagues above any other mandolin slicers I have owned or used. Good rigidity, slices everything including cheese and salami. Easy to wash,Worth the investment!
