SVS Prime Elevation Speakers - Gloss Black (Pair)

I'm a SVS subwoofer owner and fan and I will recommend those all day every day... My first experience with loudspeakers was just ok.Prime Elevations in White -Finish - These are very well made and look great. The design is very good.Sound quality - Average at best. Highs and mids were too laid back and (not that I was expecting much) there is little bass to speak of.Disappointing for a $500 pair.Mounting - The mounting process is very simple and there are a variety of positions to suit most scenarios. Having said that, in both houses I've built with pre-wiring for discrete channels, the builders spooled the wire inside a standard gang box (switch / 2 outlet size). This mounting hardware affords no way to completely conceal the box. It's not big enough to straddle it and the mounting bracket is in a position that doesn't allow the speak to overhang it. Not a massive deal, but it does look messy, having the gang box cover sticking out from under it.Summary - These are very easy to mount and fill the duty of a channel like height adequately. I would never use them for a front or primary surround channel due to sound quality.

I wish there was a way to make them more aesthetically pleasing. Installed in my open area combo living room, dining room and kitchen, they stick out like warts. I wish there was an enclosure designed to mount flush with my walls. With my vaulted ceilings, this is really the only "good method" of getting Dolby Atmos surround in my listening area.As far as sound and enhancing my TV viewing and listening experience, they are great. My 0.4-Dolby Atmos speaker arrangement using these speakers enhances the sound envelope by surrounding the listener with immersive sound. If you don't mind a little aesthetic discomfort, these are a worthy addition to your home theater when ceiling mounted speakers aren't an option.

These are outstanding speakers. Although they are technically not Atmos certified, they work perfectly well as Atmos speakers. However, due to the design and the fact they are full range speakers they are equally at home as surround speakers, or indeed front speakers. You could actually have ten of these in a 7.1.4 system (I'd recommend an SVS centre for the centre speaker) if you wanted. Mounted just at the edge of wall and ceiling, Atmos (and DTS-X) placement with these speakers is nothing short of excellent and far better than any ceiling bounce type speakers. In fact, you will only really better these with full on cutting holes and running wires ceiling speakers. And it's not just the loud effects of Atmos that stand out, but the much more subtle effects which ... MoreThese are outstanding speakers. These may seem a little expensive compared to something like the Dali Alteco speakers or the PSB Imagine XAs, but you get what you pay for, and they are far better than either of those sets. If you're thinking about these but you're unsure because of the price, I'd recommend going somewhere you can demo them, and listening to them, perhaps with the Dolby Atmos Amaze (lossless) demo or the Nature's Fury(Lossless) demos. You'll be amazed.
