Not a massive deal, but it does look messy, having the gang box cover sticking out from under it.Summary - These are very easy to mount and fill the duty of a channel like height adequately. I would never use them for a front or primary surround channel due to sound quality.

Within a week, they contacted me to let me know, that they receive their first shipment of the mounting lock system, and if I were to purchase from Canadian dealer, they would ship me some.So I got 2 pairs and took my time to install them, all 4 according to Atmos White Paper (had lots of time, at this point since it was a 6 months up-grade [speakers, another amp and a new AVP]). The angle design of those speakers, make-it very easy to use as ceiling speakers, mine are set at a close 45 degree angle from the front and back from the main row, and perfectly point out to the MLP .To point them out to the MLP position, all you need is to use a top left/bottom right holes from the mounting bracket (or any combination that would point the speakers to MLP, to create the direction of angle desire). The reason my review took so long to come.My impression. The integration is flawless with my current speakers, from another brand (both on the neutral side). I could not tell what speakers was playing, a perfect 3D bubble of sound.Well done SVS to come up with this little block for the bracket, to be use for ceiling duty. The Elevation were very versatile to begin with, and the next step to be able to use them for ceiling with a simple block on those mount was brilliantOverall, very Happy with my purchase.

These are outstanding speakers. Although they are technically not Atmos certified, they work perfectly well as Atmos speakers. However, due to the design and the fact they are full range speakers they are equally at home as surround speakers, or indeed front speakers. You could actually have ten of these in a 7.1.4 system (I'd recommend an SVS centre for the centre speaker) if you wanted. Mounted just at the edge of wall and ceiling, Atmos (and DTS-X) placement with these speakers is nothing short of excellent and far better than any ceiling bounce type speakers. In fact, you will only really better these with full on cutting holes and running wires ceiling speakers. These may seem a little expensive compared to something like the Dali Alteco speakers or the PSB Imagine XAs, but you get what you pay for, and they are far better than either of those sets. If you're thinking about these but you're unsure because of the price, I'd recommend going somewhere you can demo them, and listening to them, perhaps with the Dolby Atmos Amaze (lossless) demo or the Nature's Fury(Lossless) demos. You'll be amazed.

Having recently updated my 15+ year old Polk setup with Prime Towers, Center and Satellites at the bed level, I purchased 4 of the Elevations to install on the ceiling to replace my Pioneer upfiring Atmos speakers in a 7.1.4 config.Pros:1. Installation on the ceiling was incredibly easy with the provided brackets and the rubber block to lock the speakers into the ceiling brackets is a very nice (and simple) piece of engineering.2. The sound perfectly matches the other speakers in the Prime series, giving me a cohesive dome of sound in my room. Outstanding placement of sounds both above the listener and imaged between the height and bed layers. Cross-channel imaging between every speaker is very precise!3. Outstanding placement of sounds both above the listener and imaged between the height and bed layers. Cross-channel imaging between every speaker is very precise!3. Build quality is solid, and I really like the look of these speakers on my ceiling.Cons:1. The center of gravity when hanging on the ceiling brackets causes the speaker to settle back toward the heavier bottom side of the speaker. With any of the wall mounting options, this wouldn't be a problem, but with ceiling mounting I feel like a soft layer of padding between the two brackets (maybe an optional compressible gasket?) would make that connection more solid. As it is, there is a bit too much play between the bracket and the mount on the speaker.2. Specs aside, Audyssey tries to cross my front pair at 80Hz and my rear pair at 100Hz, even with the angles in my room being almost perfect per Dolby guidelines and best mic practices in use. When you look at the measured in-room response, it's clear that these speakers could have used just a hair more low-end reproduction to better hit that 80Hz sweet spot. Given how narrow the cabinets are, I think making the speaker a little wider could have given them the cabinet volume needed to get response more consistently down below 80Hz in most rooms with this small a driver. That said, even when crossed over at 100Hz, they sound vastly better than the Pioneer upfirers or my Polk in-ceilings did at my old house. The spec'd -3dB response of 55Hz is a little optimistic, and in-room response plummets like a stone below 80Hz, leaving little room for an 80Hz crossover to transition smoothly across its range.3. Given how most will use this, it would have been nice for the binding posts to be a little more recessed into the cabinet or better angled to accommodate banana plugs. The worst part of my on-ceiling install was having to try to hold the speaker while I wired it up to place it in the bracket, and this would have been made far easier if more room had been allowed for most standard banana plugs. Not a deal breaker, because once it's up, it's up.All that said, these are fantastic speakers for the price and I have thoroughly enjoyed watching movies with these in place. They're perfect when paired with the other speakers in the Prime series, and would very likely play nicely with speakers from other brands.
I had demoed a set of these speakers in a friend's home theater configured as height speakers, which prompted me to almost immediately sell my upfiring Atmos-enabled Definitive A90s and order a pair of these as direct radiating height speakers for my own home. I'm lacking a bit currently since I'm only running a pair of them for now, but a second pair will DEFINITELY be ordered in the near future. The speakers arrived last night and there was no waiting for me to connect them.Within minutes of getting home I had the box open and the speakers were connected to my front L/R where my Definitive BP9040s generally live. They sat on the floor and I aimed them at the listening position so I could test them, give them a little love, and to generally just make sure everything was on the up and up and was impressed by the quality of sound coming out of these considering the size, price, and "odd" form factor. My intention was to simply give them a quick test for a few minutes before I started drilling holes in my wall and I wound up putting them through a variety of music and movies and was really impressed by what I was hearing. As two-channels speakers, they surprisingly(to me, at least) stood on their own. The slight angle on the front from the floor pretty much hit the perfect height for my listening position and provided a relatively wide sweet spot. The sound was natural and believable, and paired with a subwoofer, would provide a good 2.1 audio experience. I found they played music well(symphonic horns sounded natural, jazz cymbals were splashy and fun, and punk guitar sounded... like punk guitar...) the sound was great for some of the action scenes from my Deadpool UHD Blu-Ray, and my wife was impressed and continued to listen to them while I got up to start measuring and drilling.I already know they're capable height channels from my previous experience at and my night was coming to a close, but I still gave them a listen without being able to calibrate them. They're very nice speakers and I can't wait to tune the system and REALLY appreciate them for the reason I purchased them. The possible uses for the Elevations listed in the manual may initially seem like weird problems looking for solutions very few home theater spaces are perfect. The flexibility of these speakers and mounting positions could mean real solutions to people with odd needs, and overall I'm genuinely impressed with these speakers. I can't wait to get a second pair for front height.

And, the same problem, with the four heights - side firing drivers. With the new Prime Elevations, mounted firing down, in all six cases, the sound field is incredible, and with much more detail. This was semi-expected, since the new drivers, and, in particular, the tweeters were now firing right into the listening position.Well worth the investment!!Thanks to SVS for their generous time spent with me! Their customer service is second, to none!

It is as if there are no more walls in my living room during any show... lightering comes from above, voices and music come from ALL around, 360 degrees side to top as in echoes off buildings outdoors and ceilings indoors..... VERY BELEIVABLE AND REALISTIC.Well done SVS, Gary and Smith F., you have reason to be proud of your accomplishmentGeo in T.O.
I replaced Bose Jewel speakers with Prime Elevations and am blown away. These guys handle home theater better than expected and embarrassed Bose both musically and movie!Rich and powerful with some bass too! They actually sounded pretty good as main speakers as I set them up first just to check them out. The mounting hardware that came with them worked perfectly. They have some weight so use anchors to mount. I’m using them as front and rear surround and may get 2 more for ceiling but at this point I don’t think I need that. They fill the room nicely. SVS really put a great sounding high quality speaker out here that honestly could be used as main bookshelf type speakers , they that good. But real Home Run here besides sound and quality is the the angle option (up/down) and the best mounting option I ever saw ( easier less complicated than Bo$e).Highly recommended. They are a special little speaker that fills my room!
These are some great speakers, I’ve purchased 4. I have installed in two sets in two different rooms. One set as the front height speakers in a 7.1.2 system. The others as stereo speakers, on a wall with a tv located approximately 10ft off the ground. Both are great and have added superb sound to the system in different ways. The stereo setup has allowed listeners to hear a much cleaner/clearer sound than the Yamaha sound bar that was there prior. Dialogue along with music is clean and easily understood with far more enjoyment. I would recommend these speakers highly to anyone considering them as a contender in their setup.
Great idea, and these installed easily. This is my introduction to Dobly Atmos and Auro 3D and I am happy I added four channels to my 5 channel system, which now could be called 5.2.4. I have B&W across the front and Monitor Audio as rear height speakers, on the rear wall facing down at the center position. My back wall is directly behind the couch, so no room for back surrounds. I also have some Hsu Mark II speakers as my surround speakers, at about the 3 and 9:00 positions. the Prime Elevation speakers are nice, but what I really need is a speaker that can blend better, and one that is larger. One other complaint, is that these speakers need to be able to pivot on a vertical axis, so they can be toed in slightly. An option would be for a set of wedges that could rotate the wall mount or the speaker mount 10 to 20 degrees (guessing at the angle). I would gladly pay extra for a flexible mount. I would also invest in an Ultra Elevation with a 6.5 inch woofer. Either that or I can add two more monitor audio silvers to complete my theater. Don't get me wrong, for what it is the prime elevation is a great solution. I do cross it in at about 80 hz and don't need it to play super low ( I have two SVS subs in this room). I have no way to match the tonality of my current speakers, but all of those match each other quite well (B&W, Monitor Audio and Hsu). please make a mount improvement and think about selling an Ultra elevation ( or perhaps sell a mount for the ultra bookshelf that might fire down at 30 degrees?). Great company, great customer service, great innovation.
