New movie soundtracks and a lot of emerging music tracks that were extremely bass heavy were making this dying sub unbearable to listen to.As a stop gap and for giggles, i hooked up my old dual 18in JBL SRX series pro audio sub from my DJ and audio engineering days for a Star Wars viewing party with friends to get ready for Star Wars EP9. It was fun and it really brought the films to life. But there were down sides, this thing was made for professional touring sound reinforcement, it was huge and it doesn't exactly fit in with the decor of the home theater. It also meant I had to patch the LFE from the AVR into a massive QSC amp and manually fire up the amp. It was a not feasible to be using this monstrosity as a permanent fixture in the home theater.I spent a few months researching all the new HT subs that have emerged in the last year and found SVS. The name sounded familiar and I remembered an old co-worker of mine had a pair of PC13 Ultras in his set up. I reached out to him to see if he still had them and if I could drop by to hear them again in person. Well, he actually upgraded, but he upgraded to 4 SB-2000 pros. The first time I heard them, I was blown away at how clear and deep those little things went. Since I had a smaller room than him, I asked if I could hear what it would sound like with just the two firing at the front stage. Oh man, I was still impressed. I pulled the trigger on a pair of SB-2000s that night. It's been about 20 days since I've had them integrated in my system and I could not be happier. Set up was a breeze. I have mine set up on the front stage elevated about 3 feet off the ground and about 12 feet away from the main listening area. I hooked them up,fired up the left sub and connected to it via the app to set the initial level using the white noise generator on the AVR and a DB meter, switched it off and did the same for the right but tweaked the volume to match the left sub. I powered on the left and ran the AVR room correction program to have it set the levels. After verifying, I actually had to turn both subs down 15db, ran room correction again till I got the AVR setting the sub levels close to it's optimal gain. Then I turned the subs down another -10db so they are now at -35db. I set the X-overs to 80hz and called it a day. After the 20 or so days listening to both movie soundtracks and music of many genres, I can happily say that I am extremely satisfied with these subs. They brought out a lot of frequencies that the old sub could not reproduce and they actually perform just as good as a dual 18" professional touring sub in a much smaller and aesthetically pleasing package. For a sealed sub, they go pretty low, I was playing San Andres the other night at reference levels and the infrasonics these two subs produced pressurized the room and the house so well that the walls actually turned into passive radiators and shook my neighbors houses next to me and across the street. I only knew because they called me and asked if I felt that earthquake and if I was ok, little did they know it was a movie and two amazing subs.

I was considering buying the older sb 1000 or the pro. But after considering the size of my room, roughly 20sqm and using SVS websites speaker matching tool on their website, I decided to fork out for the sb 2000 pro. More than I intended on spending, however, now that I have it, I would never go back. The set up was simple after following the SVS recommended crossover and slope for my speakers. It has opened entire frequencies in familiar music that I had never heard before. I'm not much of a movie or tv viewer, however watching stupid blockbusters has never been so much fun. Better yet, just playing movie soundtracks is a physical experience, rather than the ambient background I previously considered them to be. I rarely listened to EDM, but now it's something I'm ... MoreI was considering buying the older sb 1000 or the pro. SVS makes some incredible subwoofers…and these are no exception. I currently have a PB-2000 Pro and wanted to compare it to the SB-2000 Pro.I listen to A LOT of music and also use a sub for movies. The distinction between the two (ported vs sealed) is one that is honestly up for personal preference. Both sound excellent and have the ability to shake the entire room. Both the PB and SB work great for movies or music. The difference is subtle but noticeable and not a difference in quality whatsoever, just merely preference. The SB will dig deep and hold somewhat of a ’tame’ demeanor playing seemingly in the background, while the PB can carry that tone a little deeper and a little more effortlessly thanks to the size of the ported enclosure. I'm very impressed with the SB-2000 Pro. I'm using it in my TV room, where we watch a variety of content. Sometimes we watch TV shows at fairly low volume and sometimes we watch TV or movies at higher volume, some of which have a fair amount of LFE. After setting it up and balancing things with a SPL meter (the YPAO on my middle range Yamaha receiver set the bass way too low), and testing it with some DVD's that I know like the back of my hand, I found that the SB-2000 Pro integrated perfectly with my system. With the addition of the Sound Isolation feet, the bass is clean and tight, and even just one sub gives me plenty of impact on movies, even though my TV room opens up to the kitchen on one side. I think the sub is really nice looking also (I ordered the regular wood finish). And I absolutely love the phone app. The ability to adjust the volume of the sub on your phone, and to select and name different presets is a real convenience (and that's putting aside the other adjustments that you can also make from your phone).I've had an SVS cylindrical sub in my home theater for many years and have always been pleased with it, so I'm an SVS fan in all respects, both because of their products and their excellent customer service. So I suppose I might be a little biased, but it is based on experience with this company. All in all, I think the SB-2000 Pro is a really excellent sub for the money. I would highly recommend it for someone who doesn't want to spend a fortune on a subwoofer, or someone who needs to fit a sub that has solid impact but that can fit in a fairly small space.
Just recently bought this and it sounds amazing. The app is very intuitive and allows you to control various characteristics of the subwoofer without having to go around to the back of the sub. Very convenient! The bass sound is very smooth and goes considerably low which makes for a very good sub for home cinema applications! Also a very good derive from Richer Sounds. The guys at the Leeds branch are very helpful and informative.
I bought 2 of these subwoofers for my office. My office is in a secondary bedroom approx 11ft by 11ft. I have my computer desk on one side of the room but have a recliner with a 5.2.4 surround sound setup. Space is limited so I had to go sealed, ported subs are just too big for this space. So I decided to give the sb2000 pro a shot. I must say I'm amazed at the output, I thought being sealed that it wouldn't be as loud as a ported sub. Maybe in a bigger room you'd hear a bigger difference but for a small room 2 of these things pound. Bass is deep and clean. I upgraded from Klipsch reference series subs because I wanted better quality bass. I don't know that id say sealed for music and ported for movies after trying these subs out. They're great for home theater. I do still prefer ported for home theater but these are just as great in a small room for home theater, for everything really.
SVS SB-2000 ProI don’t normally do reviews very often, but every once in a while you come across something that just strikes you the right way and you want to talk about it.This is my first experience with SVS, so there is no prior history or loyalty based on any kind of fanboyism.I was having conversation with my brother and wanted to switch from my 5.1 system to a Atmos 5.1.2 system, I ordered my receiver and 4k blu ray player and got everything connected just to find out that my trusty and beloved subwoofer (M&K V1-B - VOLKSWOOFER) had completely failed, No Sound other then a nasty hum.So, I set off on a journey to repair or replace it, I have had that sub for so long and it was pretty expensive when I purchased it new, I looked on Amazon an saw many ... MoreSVS SB-2000 ProI don’t normally do reviews very often, but every once in a while you come across something that just strikes you the right way and you want to talk about it.This is my first experience with SVS, so there is no prior history or loyalty based on any kind of fanboyism.I was having conversation with my brother and wanted to switch from my 5.1 system to a Atmos 5.1.2 system, I ordered my receiver and 4k blu ray player and got everything connected just to find out that my trusty and beloved subwoofer (M&K V1-B - VOLKSWOOFER) had completely failed, No Sound other then a nasty hum.So, I set off on a journey to repair or replace it, I have had that sub for so long and it was pretty expensive when I purchased it new, I looked on Amazon an saw many Subwoofers but many of them only went down to about 35 to 30Hz. This seemed crazy to me as my main speakers go down to 36Hz, so I realized I needed to get a little more serious and find a real legit subwoofer.I started my normal process of research overload, reading every review, checking specs, looking at esthetics and all of the OCD stuff that I tend to do when looking to purchase something. Based on everything I was seeing SVS made some pretty good subwoofers, of course I never heard them so this strictly based on what others were saying.I finally came to the conclusion that the SVS SB-2000 was the one that I was going to target, it seemed to check all of my requirement boxes: 19-220 hz, Sealed Box, Compact design, Powerful Amp 500 watts rms (1100 watts peak). The only thing I was not crazy about was the metal grill (I just prefer black cloth as it fits into room better esthetically in my opinion)So, I order one SVS SB-2000 from Amazon and never received it, it got lost/stolen or something, but after being extremely frustrated and getting my refund from Amazon, I decided to contact SVS directly, the crazy thing is that I received an email about a New SVS SB-2000 Pro, so when speaking with SVS on the phone I mentioned it and ordered directly, Shipping was very fast, I was stunned at how quickly this sub arrived. One thing that really stood out to me was how friendly and patient the support is at SVS, I had lots of question and never felt rushed, I got answers and responses that allowed me to fully understand my needs. Now, about the SB-2000 Pro, first thing was this thing is really, really compact, I love that, you can place them almost anywhere in your room…very nice.Next and most importantly of course is the sound, these little sealed Boxes Hit really hard, I was actually a little shocked at how good this thing sounded, I could now understand why the SVS Subwoofers were getting such high praise. No this was from a SVS SB-2000 Pro, I really can’t imagine what some of the larger SVS products like the SB-4000 or SB16-Ultra would sound like, pretty scary if you ask me, that must be some really serious BASS.So, after having such an amazing experience with my SVS SB-2000 Pro Purchase, I decided to order and second one and now I have 2.I am extremely happy with my purchase, SVS is amazing, The products are well made, Sound Amazing and the Support is Top Notch!!!What more can I say, I am loving SVS Products.
I paired this with a 100W RMS set of Triangle AIO Twin bookshelf speakers for a music only setup. This thing is a perfect pairing for that bookshelf setup in a medium bedroom. It rocks the house, is accurate - can dive low and accurate. Much better than the MartinLogan that it replaced. Worth the extra money. Very happy.
This sub really shines with music and is very competent at home theater. My room is small 22x16 so the 2000 pro is perfect. Sounds great watching all the 4K trailers on Apple TV. Especially the Transformer movies, MI movies and Gardians & X-men movies. My room rumbles distortion free. Blows away the Bose Lifestyle top of line. In fact different universe. As a musician I have very specific musical tastes. Here’s where 2000 Pro shines bright.Very clear powerful and precise. Diana Krall vocals never sound so deep and rich. King Crimson 3 drummer setup sounds like the drummers are in my living room and the clarity of Stanley Clarks bass on Romantic Warrior is stunning. If you watch MORE movies than music I’d probably get the SP version (ported). One thing for sure SVS subs are built incredibly well and sound amazing.I haven’t mentioned the APP which is seamless and works perfectly. If the app doesn’t connect for some reason just delete it and reinstall it works great and you adjust the settings from your listening position rather than getting up all the time to make adjustments. This sub really pound for pound beats subs costing twice as much! Also customer service is insane ! They engage they respond and stick by their products unconditionally!
I don't think of myself as somebody utterly obsessed with bass, and my listening is probably 80% music 20% movies. So when I finally invested in a quality home theater/listening room, I focused first on the main speakers, ultimately selecting SVS Ultra bookshelf speakers. I already owned a much cheaper, ported sub-woofer and thought it would probably be fine giving my relatively undemanding bass needs. I finally pulled the trigger on this upgrade and honestly expected only a moderate improvement in the overall quality of the system. Wrong. This takes the quality of the entire system up a huge notch, it just kind of balances the tonal quality of the entire system and everything is much sharper and tighter now. What most surprised me is that not only does the bass ... MoreI don't think of myself as somebody utterly obsessed with bass, and my listening is probably 80% music 20% movies. What most surprised me is that not only does the bass sound miles better, but even the mid range and even the high notes seem crisper and better defined now. I am no expert in this, but what I think what I was experiencing is that a cheaper sub just introduces a kind of general muddiness that doesn't stay confined to the low end.Every room is different, but I spent a lot of time wondering whether I should go up to the 3000 or whether the 2000 would be enough. I had some space constraints that really made the 3000 a more difficult proposition. I am sure the 3000 is better and if you have room for it the price difference is modest, but don't worry that the 2000 is weak, it very much isn't. Automatic room correction set my old sub at -4db and set this one at -15db, and this is not in a particularly small room. Even at what I'd consider the highest sane volume levels for the system, this thing is not struggling to keep up.
