I bought this to replace a cheap, 720 TVL one whose night vision had failed after about 3 years. The new one was slightly marked, as described, but otherwise perfect. Easy to fit and the quality is far, far superior to the old one. I'm considering buying a second one to replace another cheap 720 TVL one just to upgrade it.

This is the same camera model as the on my system that had failed. Swann Technical Support were no help. The cameras they suggested were of dubious compatibility. This one just plugged in and replaced the failed one (somehow water had got into the sealed camera despite it being IP66)

If you want a great priced cctv then look no further. I've had this nearly a month and in that time I only had 1 false alert which was a bird flying in front of the camera. The heat sensor really does stop false alerts and isn't just a gimmick which I feared it could be. Night vision is good and nothing to worry about if you don't need to see past 10 meters at night. If you have extra lighting then it will go a lot further. Software on the DVR is good and you can set points to ignore etc.. The phone app is also great and I can't understand why it's got terrible reviews. It works every time and alerts me every time without fail. I would recommend this to anyone.

Camera is very good - however customer service is marginal. The original system had setup problems and was updated with later microcode. So far so good. I showed some great features but they were difficult to setup. Customer service were evasive on setup procedures, as if they had never seen the features before. Eventually they wore me down. So the DVR works but could be sooo much better of customer service were better trained and willing.
We love our Swann system. We've had one at our last house and one at our new house. The camera was a replacement for one of ours. It works great. Highly recommend.
Great product but their app sucks. You don’t always get the motion notifications. Playback doesn’t work well on the mobile phone. Don’t waste your money if you plan to monitor your cameras while you’re away.
previously bought a cheap chinese dvr Which worked ok but the supporting software was complete rubbish difficult to find and did not work adequately. The software for this is easy to find and download from the Swann site. It installs easily and the Homesafe software is streets ahead of the old swanview. on the whole a great choice both the hardware and software
Unfortunately Swann AHD "True Detect" technology appears to be more marketing spin than reality. The combination of motion detection and PIR are claimed to eliminate false alarms. In my installation this is not so. External cameras constantly record PIR events day and night. On a windy day the result is hundreds of false alarms. The 1080MSB camera does not appear to have PIR sensitivity adjustment. I surmise that "Sensitivity" adjustment, if it works at all, is a DVR function and relates to motion only not PIR. Likewise, I surmise that area "setting" relates to motion only not PIR. The combination of these functionality deficits means that the Swann system does not (cannot?) perform as claimed. Potential users of systems utilizing this technology are likely, like ... MoreUnfortunately Swann AHD "True Detect" technology appears to be more marketing spin than reality. Both units that I purchased work well on my CCTV system - a good value upgrade - particularly considering that just one new camera would have cost more than I paid for the two. They do just what they are supposed to do, produce a good, clear picture on the monitor and in the recordings. Very good value - I am extremely happy with the purchase.
two cameras mounted out of the weather and both have condensation. Of course I am out of warranty. 2 of 8 no good. It took me a while to install or this would have been covered under warranty but of course neither are now. One of the others is completely unprotected and still works fine. My previous swann cameras mounted in same locations lasted 8 years before i thought i should "upgrade"
