Got this due to an injury keeping me from biking outdoors for the next 6 months and figured it would be an investment in my sanity and health. I should caveat this review with the point that I am using a Vitus Sommet enduro bike on this trainer with a 1x11 gearing setup. Ordered late on Sunday, shipped on Monday, received on Tuesday. Everything arrived exactly as expected so 5* to start fitness. Thank you all!The quality of the product is excellent. When using it, there are no creaks or wobbles. It feels sturdy when in use and when setting up felt like a nice bit of kit. The trainer itself is simple to set up (a little more attention is needed if you're using a 12mm axel) and pair with software. So far I have used Zwift and Tacx's own software. The smart aspect of the trainer is impressive. Climbs and freewheeling down descents are replicated better than I would have imagined letting me work my gears as I would in real life. Even different surfaces (tarmac, gravel, cobbles etc) are simulated in the feedback you feel through the pedals. ERG mode when following a training plan was a new concept to me and definitely helped me get my sweat on. When in use, the trainer is silent and only the bike's drive train and my own heavy breathing can be heard. Despite the cost, you don't get a cassette with the trainer which isn't ideal when some cheaper smart trainers include a cassette... Especially if you subsequently need to buy tools to fit one so bear that in mind.Only issue I have encountered is I can't engage gear one. I work my shifter through the gears down to gear one but the derailleur hits the trainer chassis stopping the chain from getting onto my granny gear. I have checked my derailleur itself and the hangar and they are not bent and work perfectly when the bike is assembled with the rear wheel but not on the trainer. It's a small issue but given the price of the trainer and it's claimed suitability for 1x11 setups, this was a little disappointing.Overall, I am happy but there is a twinge of disappointment that this best of the best turbo trainer has a design flaw.

I have had the NEO 2T Smart Trainer for over 4 years now. It is used by Cindy and myself a few times a week all year long. We only have used Zwift with the trainer and have no issues at all. I have used it with a bluetooth connection and a ANT connection to an iMac computer and Apple notebook. There have been no issues when using an Apple computer. The Zwift program ant the NEO 2T work really well together, and it is seamless. The NEO 2T will also work without power but you have to start pedaling in order to generate a power source. I have not used it this way, but it is nice to know that you can if there is no power available. I have not had to use Garmin support for anything so I don't have any opinion regarding a repair, etc. Just like the Wahoo Kickr, there ... MoreI have had the NEO 2T Smart Trainer for over 4 years now. Wahoo has a bad bike list and I would imagine that Garmin does too. So make sure you check for a list before you buy this trainer. Overall. I highly recommend this trainer. It just works very well and is very quiet too.

My trainer has been a lemon ever since I purchased it. To begin with it made terrible, loud clunking noises after 20mins of cycling, unless I used it in ERG mode all the time. Then after 10 months of ERG mode or very noisy training, it simply stopped working completely. Basically overheated, so as soon as I started putting any watts into it it would shut down. I could see/hear one of the fans wasn't working and the unit was incredibly hot - I could smell it overheating! I put in a warranty call and was told by Garmin it would be replaced with a refurbished one. This was 2 months ago and I am still waiting. I have emailed and rung Garmin numerous times to be told I would be rung back, only to hear nothing! When it worked correctly it was great but for the price it ... MoreMy trainer has been a lemon ever since I purchased it. After trying a few other trainers I'm glad that I spent the extra money on the Tacx Neo 2T. There are really no sacrifices while using this one. Setup and breakdown is easy if you don't have a dedicated space and it just works with no fuss! I really like the slight side to side motion during riding, and if you can pair it with the motion plates it really gives a great ride feel. Not necessarily an exact replication of outdoor riding, but it is motion that will save you from some stationary seat pain and also engage some of your core while riding. The trainer also has some really nice touches to it that aren't a necessity, but really put it over the competition (you can use it without a power source, LED lighting based on power zones, downhill assist, etc.). Great score if you can get it on the current sale and with the rebate for free motion plates (the rebate work for REI purchases also). Really happy with my purchase and hasn't left me wanting for more out of a trainer.
I have been riding a Tacx Neo for about 3 years. I started riding it before Garmin bought the company. And I frankly liked it more then - even though it was a bit quirky. Garmin has made several changes. I don't like every one of them, but overall, I am a satisfied customer. I continue to ride 100+ miles per week, in the Netherlands, Italy, France and Belgium. I read the reviews where individuals are complaining about this that or the other. Nothing is perfect. But I won't trade my Neo for anything. In fact, after telling my wife for years that I'd rather ride my Tacx than join her on her rides through the streets of Buckhead, she's FINALLY agreed to let me buy her a Neo so we can ride together, upstairs, in air conditioning. Of course, the 100-degree heat in the summer and cold temperatures in the winter may be a factor. And don't forget the member benefits with REI! Incidentally, we bought one for our son in Seattle, and he sees the advantage of having a 1st class training system (mounted his Bianchi road bike) for when the weather isn't ideal for his Yeti."See you" in Amsterdam!
Well this is my first SMART trainer so there is a little bit of 'it's all new & wonderful'; however the change from my old dumb turbo to the Tacx has massively exceeded expectation. On the dumb trainer 45 minutes was about the longest that I could tolerate (whatever music or radio I was listening to). With the interactive features of the SMART trainer time is no longer an issue. So far I've just used the basic Tacx app . . . it was easy to set-up & it has worked well, but beware after one week it seems that many routes become locked & you are then obliged to subscribe to the Tacx Premium app (but you do get one month's free subscription after all). Looking forward to exploring this app & the other well known ones over the Winter. One word of caution . . . my wife assumed that one consequence of my puchase would be to see more of me, but given the interactive engagement making it so addictive . . . we have both realised, almost immediately, that those hours out on the road have just been substituted by hours in garage. Thankfully it never seems to rain in the virtual cycling world so your bike doesn't get covered in muck & grime. All the fun of cycling without the chore of cleaning your bike after every ride!
This is the best trainer I have ever used, absolutely worth the jump from a wheel-on smart trainer and even better if you can get it on sale! The only kind of drawback is it doesn't come with a cassette like some of the competitors, but I have a 10-speed drivetrain and would have needed to purchase a cassette anyway. The noise level on this thing is insanely quiet! I live in a two-story townhouse and my trainer is setup direct above the lofted opening over the living room and my girlfriend has to mute everything to even hear it, and what she does hear is almost all drivetrain noise! I do wish this worked with the Climb for even more realistic climbing, but this trainer does an amazing job replicating climbs. I do wish this worked with the Climb for even more realistic climbing, but this trainer does an amazing job replicating climbs. The road feel simulator is honestly really cool, when you go over wooden planks or cobbles on Zwift, you feel them... definitely a gimmick, but still really cool for immersion. Setup was really easy and it comes with just about all of the adapters and fittings you might need to connect your thru-axle or QR skewer, I would recommend a small amount of grease if you're going to be switching between bikes or on and off the trainer frequently, but this is probably a good idea anyway. Disc brakes can cause some issues, but they do include spacers for a wider fit and/or putting a little electrical tape on the inner edge of the caliper if you're worried about scuffing the finish. I would definitely buy this again and would recommend it to others (who are willing to pay this price point)!
Purchased 2 weeks ago. Only took a week to get it to my door. Very easy to set up and start using with Zwift within 30 minutes. (including cassette install) Everything is great. Garmin is offering a rebate on it as well. With the rebate you can get the Rocker Plates absolutely free including shipping direct from Garmin. Mine arrived yesterday. Super easy install but I haven't got a ride in on them yet. The trainer itself works great - I have about 200 miles on it now and no complaints or worries. I am impressed at how solid and stable it feels. Yet you don't feel totally locked in and motionless. Great feel! Yes, I would buy it again in a heartbeat. Pleasure to deal with Recovery For Athletes and their great service andshipping.
When I received this trainer, I tested using hand to rotate the flywheel. It was not smooth at all. Checked the bearing and it seemed fine. I had issues with mounting Shimano Ultegar 10 speed cassette. The 1mm spacer that came with this trainer was not enough. Had to use 3mm spacers to able to correctly lock the cogs. After mounting my bike, I took a test ride. The resistance was weird at low crank rpm. It was studdering. When I increased the RPM, it got smoother. But the wattage reading was erradic. Also, I didn't like the side-side movement much. In comparison to my old Gen 2 ProForm Tour de France, this trainer seemed very "rough." I returned mine and bought instead Stages SB20 smart bike trainer.
I live in the wet PNW and i personally dont enjoy riding in the rain or having my eyes water profusely from the cold wind in the winter months. I wanted a trainer so i can still get exercise and fee like im getting a good workout. I put on my vintage Vitus 979 with all its original dura-ace components. There was some futzing to get this onto the trainer with all my older components and my shifting isnt very smooth while on the trainer. But its so nice to have the elevation gains and feel like im really getting a good workout. Sure, its not the same as actually riding my bike but i am sweating and feel good after. It connects to my phone quickly and i use Zwift/Strava. Its a great way to stay in shape. Its heavy, so you need a good spot for it...cant really move it around your house. I have it set up in the office in front of a window and a fan blowing directly on me! Get a floor mat cause you WILL sweat!
