I bought this lens to go on my A7RV and A7CII cameras to use for nature hikes and a general walk around lens. I like that it has a pretty flexible and long zoom range. It is meant to be used outdoors in decent lighting given its aperture range. It can also take some decent macro shots, which is an added bonus. For the money and flexibility it allows in a lightweight package with a good warranty, it is hard to beat.

I really like the range of this lens and the quality of the photo produced. I have done some macro photography with it recently and it was really fun to use. Finally, you can't beat the price for this great lens.

I took this lens to a ski resort where it handled the reflections and exposure issues from snow like a champ. It produces beautifully sharp photos and it has such an amazing focal range that I never had to change my lens during the entire vacation!

I was generally pleased with it. I rented it to determine if I’d buy it and am not sure. It weighs more than the Tamron lens, 18-300, that I’m using right now. I have shoulder problems so I need to be careful. Otherwise, the images were sharp. The range was similar to my current Tamron lens.
The focus ring is not smooth. I find it hard to do small tweaks. For the price I suppose it's fine sacrificing the dampening and the aperture size?
Lens was in great condition. Came in on time. Adjusted when I had to return early unexpectedly. I've tested the Tamaron and the Sony 100 - 400. I think the Sony has a slight edge
It's pretty much like I expected; sharp but not extra sharp. Light weight and very versatle'
I chose this lens over the Sony 24-240 because I like the extended zoom range and I picked up a 20mm fixed lens for landscapes. I really like this lens as it is very quick and responsive, has a good range, and is considerably lighter.
This lens is lightweight and has a very useful range. Image quality is fantastic to my eyes. The aperture range is fine for the most part, unless you want to shoot in the dark. Otherwise, it's plenty for background separation thanks to the longer focal length.
The extra 20mm on the wide end, compared to the Tamron 70-300, means that this lens will stay on your camera a lot more of the time. The expanded creative potential in one lens is what sold it to me.Tamron nailed it on versatility with the 50-300 range of this lens, and convenience with the lightweight and well-balanced size, with solid stabilized optics and snappy fast focusing.
