I switched to grain free foods for my cats when one had terrible skin problems. I chose this because it was affordable and easy to find at many stores. My cats ate it up for years. Until it ended up causing other health issues. I was unaware at the time that the grains were just replaced with other starches that aren’t necessarily better for cats and can be downright harmful. I finally figured out through expensive and time consuming elimination that this food was causing barfing and very smelly and loose poops for my cats. I shared this with my kids who had having the same problem with their cats fed this food and they also found switching to a different brand resolved the issues. Also, the wet food was absolutely a disaster too causing barfing and then my cats ... MoreI switched to grain free foods for my cats when one had terrible skin problems. The chicken allergy isn’t apparent so I’m now skeptical of the alternative starches used in cat foods. Also, no horrible loose and stinky poops with Purina.

Years ago we bred and trained labs for hunt tests as well as pets and companions. We worked a highly respected veterinarian after some skin issues and poor gut health now and then. He gave us a list of nutrients and proportions and Taste of the Wild met these perfectly and no other brand matched his specifications. After a month plus the usual transition time, we noticed a striking improvement in their coats, being almost otter-like with a shine and smoothness we'd not seen before. We also noted that their stool size was much smaller and very compact. It was a complete game-changer for us and we never looked back. The same goes for Rosie in the photo. Wow this food changed both my cats.My male cat has always been super anxious, running around, crying, constantly hungry, very needy. I changed his food (after about 14 months of having him) to this brand and he is a totally different cat. He doesn't run around the house super anxiously crying at everything anymore. He is so much calmer and happier, it blows my mind.My other female cat, who has always been a little lovebug and very mellow, though would sleep a lot, also changed behavior after changing over to this brand. She became a lot more playful. Both of them just seem happier. Very cool. :) they are both hairless.

We rescued 3 cats years ago. We wanted to feed them the best food that we could afford. After some trial and error we happened upon this cat food. All 3 kitties LOVE it, devour it each and every time we put the bowls down! Big bonus is that our vet approves and highly recommends! All our fur babies have soft fur and skin, their coat loves this cat food too! All 3 cats have been in perfect health, not one single issue has come up and we attribute a lot of that to this food! Because our cats All drink lots of water, we don't supplement with any wet food. We do give them treats, however, lol. Our kitties love this food and so do we! Highly recommend!!!!
I fed this to my cat for only 6 months. It was a new addition that I added to a mixture of several other dry cat foods as I have done for years. I mix several together, so she gets better nutrition. After about 5 months, she started vomiting a lot after eating. I took her to the vet and her liver levels were way off the charts. What was supposed to be 35-125, her levels were at 1200! After 2 weeks of RX, her liver was back to normal. I removed this food from her diet and the vomiting ended. After extensive research, I learned it was a protein allergy. This food is 42% protein. It must have a lot of chemicals in it because she has never vomited from eating birds while outside. I do not recommend this food.
We recently had a stray kitten adopt us, my best guess is she’s a little over 6 months. While reading how to care for outside cats, this high protein food was recommended to help outdoor kitties live a healthy life. I love that it contains antioxidants and probiotics.I initially started feeding it to her dry but after reading more about outdoor cats and helping them to stay hydrated, I started putting water in the food before giving it to her so it turns soft. She loves it crunchy, and she loves it soft! So sometimes I’ll hydrate the food with water and then put a few pieces of dry on top like it’s a little crunchy treat, and it seems she loves it best this way.The best part is, I started noticing her getting the zoomies after I started feeding her this food. ... MoreWe recently had a stray kitten adopt us, my best guess is she’s a little over 6 months. While reading how to care for outside cats, this high protein food was recommended to help outdoor kitties live a healthy life. I’ve been buying this food for a few years now for my bengals with sensitive skin and GI issues, and I mix it with Natural Balance Duck and Green Pea. The 24lbs together usually lasts my three cats about 9 weeks. For some reason this last batch seems to be different, as per the behavior of my cats. I noticed that after a day, I could no longer see the bottom of their food dish on schedule, yet they were acting like they were starving and had no food. In observation, I noticed that they were actually eating around the Taste of the Wild food, and only eating the Natural Balance. Part of why I started mixing foods in the first place was because they preferred the taste of TofW and now they were avoiding it??? One of my cats is really bad about gorging with both food ... MoreI’ve been buying this food for a few years now for my bengals with sensitive skin and GI issues, and I mix it with Natural Balance Duck and Green Pea. In observation, I noticed that they were actually eating around the Taste of the Wild food, and only eating the Natural Balance. Part of why I started mixing foods in the first place was because they preferred the taste of TofW and now they were avoiding it??? One of my cats is really bad about gorging with both food and water and vomiting from being too full, but in retrospect, they all had been vomiting more as of recent. Again in watching them eat, it even seemed like they had difficulty chewing the food, and there had been a lot more crumbs than usual for my already messy eaters. My cats aren’t picky as I feed them a consistent diet to avoid such behavior, so when they do this, I’m concerned that they are showing me that something is wrong. Either this batch was over cooked or something is up with the ingredients, but I can’t continue to buy this out of concern for my cats’ health. When I purchased another bag of Natural Balance to feed to them straight, they acted as if they hadn’t eaten in weeks. I feel genuinely awful because when I picked up my elderly cat to trim her nails, it was now obvious that her collar had even become too big, as she had lost weight. Not good.
Our cats used to vomit frequently and we always thought it had to do with hairballs. Out of concern for our cats, we started really examining the “hairballs”. We found that usually there wasn’t any “hair” in the vomit. So off to the vet we went. We were informed by the vet that we could try changing the cats’ food to one that didn’t contain grains. Once we switched to Taste of the Wild the vomiting has almost totally stopped. No more hairballs and the cats love the food! Now it is the ONLY hard food we feed our cats.
Decided to get a 6.6kg bag of this to try as I wanted to mix my cats food up a bit with a different flavour and brand (my cats usually eat Royal Canin crackers mainly which they love) and this is advertised to be pretty good quality with what goes into it etc. and the price per 100g is pretty damn good. Anyway, the first negative was it isn't a resealable bag (luckily, I transfer to a container) and the crackers are soo small, smelly and dusty which I'm sure also doesn't help with texture/mouth feel for the kitties... I did do the slow transfer/transition from the old food to this food but now that it is just this food, the cats are quick to stop eating and start covering the food and then annoying us to feed them still. I don't know how we are going to get through ... MoreDecided to get a 6.6kg bag of this to try as I wanted to mix my cats food up a bit with a different flavour and brand (my cats usually eat Royal Canin crackers mainly which they love) and this is advertised to be pretty good quality with what goes into it etc. and the price per 100g is pretty damn good. I don't know how we are going to get through the rest of the crackers. I wish I knew exactly what their issue with it is but I'm guessing it is a combo of taste, size, texture and perhaps these crackers go stale really fast?!? I don't know, unfortunately I would not recommend this food and will not be buying it again.
We had a feline adopt us in December. As we advertised for his old family to find him, we got by on small bags of food. We finally accepted that he was ours and looked for a food we could commit to. He seemed unimpressed by all the options so far but I filed that under "cat quirks." Since we get our dog food through Chewy, it made sense to add on the cat food as well. Honestly, I blindly chose this brand based on ingredients and price per pound. The reviews about cats refusing to eat it had me a little worried especially since our guy was already being a bit picky. Ummm...not an issue with this food. He JUMPED on the box as soon as it was delivered and was fully invested in the unboxing. He JUMPED on the box as soon as it was delivered and was fully invested in the unboxing. I had to pour the food around and over his head as I transferred the kibble to jars for storage. He buried his head into each jar to scarf down as many bites as he could before I could locate and secure the lid. Granted, we haven't had him long but we've still been through 3 or 4 brands and I've not seen him this excited about food yet. While I can't speak on the long term results of the product, we are on a good start so far.
