I had gotten a free sample of this brand and food, and my dog ate it without issue. So when the local pet food store decided to stop carrying his usual brand, Nature's Variety, I chose to buy this as a replacement. Again, my Labrador ate this readily. But, he is a Labrador, and will eat almost anything, fortunately or not. The 3 stars are not necessarily a reflection on the quality of the food, but moreso because of the side effect it produces in my dog. His bowel movements have become softer with this food. And quite honestly, it is just messier to pick up. So, after this bag is finished, I am going back to Nature's Variety.

Feed Taste of the wild ""grain free""venison and bison to my GSP and Maltese For 4 years almost and started feeding it to my 14 month old silver lab when we got him. My lab is allergic to Grain an so is my Maltese so it was great and it is high protein for my pointer so double great. Then one day I notice something very different about the product. White grain looking objects lodge in the food and free floating throughout the bag. Contact taste of the wild because I knew from years of handling the dog food that something wasn't right. After going back and forth they told me it was barely in the food. That there must have been a mistake when switching over and making products. So after I notified them hoping the problem was solved went out a few weeks later and bought ... They tried to tell me at first that it wasn'ts ""barely""now but ""cull peas"". Finally after going back and forth with their Quality control manager he finally seen the light of day and realized that it was barely once again. Then he said he pulled ""samples"" from that batch and could find no evidence Of barely and there was nothing else he could do on the matter and he had receive no other complaints on the matter. Well that right their sent me over the edge. Because i have evidence Of barely in their high priced grain free dog food I buy specifically For my animals health and they did almost nothing on the matter beside pull a sample they have. How can you do A thorough investigation without pulling some of their product off the market to Identify the problem. I will no longer support this company or brand because they do not care for the health of the animals and they do not care about the Quality of the product they supply to us. I'm thoroughly disgusted With the way they handle the matter

Noah, giant schnauzer, generally isn't too happy with any kibble & will usually not touch it, but this kibble is great, it's one of the few kibbles he will get through a full bag without it being required to alternate w/ something else. He's tried most of the expensive ones like Acana, Orijen, AATU, Tails, Lily's, and plenty of the cheap ones incl Aldi's own! But none of them could stand the test of time (2 yrs) like the Taste of the Wild kibbles, & especially this Pacific Stream one. It still has to be mixed in with a small portion of wet food for Noah to eat it, as has been the case for any kibble for him; Noah's favourite seems to be the poultry/fishy Forthglade grain-free trays. We started out with some other brand of "better" food. Our girl was having itching and rash issues. We switched to T.O.W. Pacific Stream and have been using it for a year now. She no longer has any of the itching/scratching issues. Her coat is shiny and beautiful. She has "healthy and regular bowel movements". We love the energy she continues to have. I highly recommend T.O.W. brand, especially the Pacific Stream "blend".
Amazing food. My mastiff is a picky eater and we have pretty much tried everything from home cooked to every store brought food from highest price to lowest in hopes of getting him to eat. He would go days without eating. We got this food and it’s been about a year now and he has finally gained weight, his fur looks and feels amazing and he eats like it’s his last meal. Our German shorthair pointer also loves it
I usually give my pup the Taste of the Wild Bison Large Breed Puppy food, however now that she's out of the puppy stage officially I thought I'd try something else. She LOVES it, the ingredients are all-natural and things I easily recognised so safe to say the quality is wonderful. It has a probiotic that's added to the food after it's been cooked, and I've definitely noticed my dogs digestive system has improved. The Omega 3 fatty acids element is also great as I can see she is getting less skin allergies (staffy life). Highly recommend for someone who is conscious of healthy diets and natural dog foods.
Let me preface this by stating I have never written a review in my life. Less than a month ago my dog died. My vet and family full heartedly believe his death is due to this brand. We started feeding Red (at the time a 2 year old redbone coonhound) Taste Of The Wild back in early 2018. After less than a year of feeding this Red was diagnosed with Dilated Cardiomyopathy (enlarged heart disease). There wasn’t much information about the possible side effects of grain-free dog food back then. I watched my once happy and energetic dog suffer from Dilated Cardiomyopathy for 4.5 years. During this time he was incredibly lethargic, struggled to eat, and was limited in activity and exercise. No dog deserves the quality of life Red had. His life was INSANELY limited due to ... During this time he was incredibly lethargic, struggled to eat, and was limited in activity and exercise. No dog deserves the quality of life Red had. His life was INSANELY limited due to his heart disease. He should have been able to live 10-13 years. He died at age 6. I missed out on a possible SIX years with my dog because I innocently fed grain free dog food. My family spent thousands upon thousands of dollars on Red's medicine and participated in every life-prolonging action available. We had to suffer through numerous occasions of defeat and heartbreak because of how miserable our dog seemed. His disease consumed our lives. This kind of pain isn’t what owning a dog is supposed to be about, and it can be so easily avoided. PLEASE do your research on this brand and grain free dog foods and how they lead to heart disease. Don’t just read reviews and trust every dog food brand. Red had no health conditions and had the possibility to live a long and happy life. That was taken away because of Taste Of The Wild. I miss my dog so much and will never be able to accept the time I lost with him. If you love your dog, don’t feed Taste Of The Wild.
My 12 year old dog has always been a picky eater but in the last year, it has gotten worse. We changed to Costco’s brand. Still picky. Googled best dry food for picky eaters. Taste of the Wild was one of the recommended and it was available nearby. Bought the 5 lb. bag. Weaned him onto it. No more picky. So went and bought the large bag. He eats every morsel.
I bought this for my Labrador on recommendation from my sister. I also bought the puppy formula too. It's okay but my lab's stools are not as firm as they were on the Orijen (too expensive having to buy 2 bags at the same time!). I have ordered the Royal canin satiety for my Lab (vet recommended as she's overweight), so hopefully it doesn't cause any issues. I will be going back to Orijen for the pup. Pricey, but worth it. Won't buy taste of the wild again
The bag I just bought (expiration May 2023) makes my dog have big bloated poop, almost diarrhea. Also makes him smelly. Completely different from the previous bag (expiration August 2021). I mixed it with another food, but that still didn't solve the problem. Food in this bag was a light brown. I suspect that there was a plant problem or that the ingredients have changed. Possibly an error in mixing as well, with highly gaseous ingredients. This company is really frustrating. Last year they had some bags with puddles of oil in the bottom of the bag (and food was very salty).
