TCL 32" S5400 Full HD LED Android Smart TV [2023]

Nice TV. Will try the QLED range in the near future.Pros:- Super affordable- Tons of free content on the TCL Channel app- Good enough picture quality- VA panel (very nice colours)- Snappy interface- Easy to use remote- VESA 100x100- Minimal latency with bluetooth soundbarsCons:- Forced to sign-in Google and TCL account when using Google TV mode- Too many preinstalled apps- Default colour configuration is oversaturated- Micro dimming is meh. Better to turn off- No motion smoothing- Cannot control digital out audio with TV remote (works with Xiaomi TV and Prism TV).- Sideloading apps require installing file managers such as Cx File Manager. Sideloading using the pre installed 'Safety Guard' app does not work very well.

A great television for the price.

Overall, the reviews for this product were fairly positive so I went ahead and bought it. I'm glad I did because I really cannot fault it at all. I deliberately set out to reread the criticisms to see if I agreed with them once I had been using the television for a week or so. I really don't know what people were complaining about! The television works perfectly and does everything that it says it does. I have no complaint whatever. It is a great TV and a very competitive price. Far from deducting any marks, I would give this 11 out of 10!

Be warned

Bought this for my grandson last October and it’s awful…..freezes, won’t connect to internet, turns itself off.Returned it to jb hifi Munno para t they had it for a short time and told us it was ok. Took it home, same issues again took it back and they again wanted to try to repair, told us we would have to return it three time before anything else could be done. I know they say you get what you pay for, but this is untrue, just wanted a little TV, nothing special and it is just an expensive paper weight which we didn’t need. Be careful buying anything from this place, they are great when you buy something, but if it’s faulty they are terrible at fixing or replacing it. We ended up just leaving it at the store.

Generally happy with TCL TV

Generally happy with TCL TV. Has all the online streaming website - Netflix, Disney, YouTube, etc. Has 2 HDMI port and 1 USB. Have tested the USB and have no issues with it. 3 issues that are annoying. 1 - Takes a while to warm up. More than 30 seconds. 2 - Standby light is bright. Got around the issue by taping half the standby light. 3 - most annoying is that there is no numbers pad for quick access to TV channels. I have to use the up and down buttons to navigate the TV channels.

Great budget option for spare room

You cannot complain for the price. Great picture, the sound quality is perfectly fine for people not obsessed with sound. Has a good range of apps, even the Plex app works well and has played every file type I’ve thrown at it (which other versions have not).The only 2 downsides are its responsiveness to the remote controls input. It is always laggy. Press a button and you often have to wait 5 seconds for it to respond. Once it’s playing something, no issues, it plays great.The other is a real nitpick but the sleep timer is hidden about 5 steps into the systems settings. Press the button, wait, navigate through 5 layers of settings (it’s in the screensaver setting for some reason) then exit, wait, navigate to the app you want, wait for it to open….then you are ... MoreYou cannot complain for the price. Just what I wanted in a 32 inch TV

They say you get what you pay for. So from that aspect the TCL 32S5400AF model (2023) ticks all the right boxes in my humble opinion. The main feature I wanted in a 32 inch TV was Bluetooth as some have and others don’t. This TCL model does so that made me explore more about the brand of TCL prior to buying one. TCL was founded in 1981 and has companies all around the world including Australia…so I felt more at ease finding that out.Some of the reviews say the white led indicator light is a nuisance and stays on when you turn the TV off via remote. A flash mode at night if your out could be a deterrent for break in's…just a thought.Anyway I’m happy with my TV and the staff at JB-Hi were pleasant and helpful to me as a customer.

Some good features but frustrating

Pretty easy to set up. The picture quality is ok. The sound/volume seems to fluctuate and I find the need to turn it down at times then I can’t hear people speaking so need to turn it back up. The main issue I have is the interaction between tv and remote. There is a real lag after pushing a button before the tv responds. If you end up pushing the button again it seems to cause issues, in some cases the tv screen goes blank and the only way to get it to do anything is to turn it off. Then it doesn’t even go back to what app you were using! Very slow to start up, you need patience with this tv. Also annoying is not being able to turn the beeps off on the remote in settings. Why?? Their other models enable this. Wish I had taken it back but stuck with it now.
