Brilliant TV, poor customer service.

Brilliant picture and sound without the aid of a sound bar, Dolby atmos and DTS decoding does a fine job when streaming videos or movies with these features. I must also note, customer service is not as pleasant as it used to be with noel leeming and covid is no excuse. If any retailer offers click and collect, just remember it only works by human input.

This TCL TV gives you everything you need.OLED, Dolby vision with local dimming, surprising amazing sound (more on that later). The picture quality is amazing/great. Only downside is viewing angle, as it's a VA screen, if you view too far off centre the colour drops off significantly. But for my use, I knew this would never be an issue. This needs to be considered before you buy.The sound. Umm I was all prepped to go purchase a soundbar, had one picked out already. As I'm a bit of an audiophile. I have some very high end speakers in my theatre. I'm quite picky on sound.I installed this tv, started it up and watched a Marvel movie for a test. And wow. Total waste of money! My daughter purchased me this tv last Christmas and it stopped working 2 months ago. It worked great the first 8 months but one day the screen went black and never came back on. We called customer service which are very unprofessional they told us to troubleshoot it which we had already done but to please them we did it again while on the phone with them. They told us to take pictures of the tv and send a 30 second video of us trying to troubleshoot it so we did they told us to email them with the pics and video so we did then we received a email stating they need another video sent. Ive seen so many poor reviews they shouldn’t be able to continue to sell these lemons.

Good Solid Budget Android TV

***If you are an apple user, you may want to think carefully before launching into the Android TV world. However, if you into Android / Google products then...LCD Panel and image Quality: Really good image quality, contrast and colours. Very good for under $1,000.Colours: Colours are also very pleasing and up with 4K content. Got to see it to believe itPlaying 4K via HDD: Just use the stock player, it pretty much nails any format you throw at it. No need to install 3rd party players and Apps.Android TV: OS gets slow sometimes, you will notice this if you come from NVIDIA Shield TV.

Review of TCL 43C725K 43" Smart 4K Ultra HD HDR QLED TV with Google Assistant
18 June 2022

Good Points: Excellent Picture and vivid colours. Great sound for the size of the TV, however, I still can't recommendImprovement Points: Sound is always out of sync. It was either 1 second behind or ahead. So it doesn't matter if picture was perfect and the sound was like real. If the video and audio is off, you can not watch it. It was worse on streamed content i.e. Netflix, Youtube, Apple TV. All the same. I tried using my home theatre system to do the audio, but it will not stay in sync. I have returned this within a day of usage.

Review of TCL 55C725K 55" Smart 4K Ultra HD HDR QLED TV with Google Assistant
5 June 2022

Good Points: Cracking picture, especially in HD. The internal sound is much better than expected, even without using my cinema surround. Lots of built in apps so no Firestick or add on needed. It does need a good wifi signal for best use. It picks up my satellite dish easily too. The price is unbeatable. I like Google assistant though I don't use it oftenImprovement Points: It doesn't load tv programmes in.the order expected in the UK. It's a bit quirky to initially set up. The instructions should be a lot clearer and there's no manual. A "source" key would have been advantageous in addition to the "home" key. Google assistant sometimes launches when it hears certain sounds from the TV (you can switch the mic off though)

TCL 4K QLED purchased to replace OLED.
6 September 2021

I recently purchased the TCL 55 C725 4K QLED to replace another brand OLEL. The quality of the QLED picture is of similar quality to OLED. The sound quality is very good. The TCL 55 C725 QLED has the Andriod feature. I am a Senior Citizen and enjoy the "OK GOOGLE" voice commands which is a lot easier than using the thin remote control which came with the television. The only drawback is this TCL 55 C725 4K QLED model does not appear to have bluetooth for connecting my cordless earphones. It has a earphone chord jack. I can recommend a TCL 55 C725 4K QLED. I am happy with the unit I purchase.

I'll admit I took a gamble thinking spending less would be ok, it would suit my needs. I was... very wrong. Ok apart from the fact that the screen is large and its picture quality is quite high, Its capability and processing technology massively let it down. My honestadvice is spend more as for the long run you will wish you had.I have already had an upgrade on the motherboard to correct the issue of out of sync audio across all the apps. So switching from watching a series on binge to a series on Disney or to Netflix you have to go into settings / audio and adjust audio sync level ( whilst exiting and go back into settings to see if the adjustment has made a difference to the audio / picturesynchronisation). This can even occur on the same app. You can see the screen glitch and the audio drops its sync by a few milliseconds enough to notice the lips are still moving but the talking has stopped. Occasionally the app will blank out and then crash and return to the main menu. Often there is delay between selecting an app or even a channel in the TV guide for the free to air TV. Sound quality is dubious I think this is more due to the amplifier section rather than the speaker capabilities. YouTube and Web browser apps are unusable. And quality of sound from the digital coax output to my Dolby 5.1 amp is worse I have heard levels are badly mismatched. I still rate my 20 year old Samsung LED higher than this and that's half the size and not smart at all. So I'm getting in touch with lovely customer service people again 2nd time in 6 months.

Waste of money. Low quality product
20 June 2022

It marely survives till the warranty period and stops working... Within 3 years of purchase the TV stopped switching on. Called customer service and they have very unprofessional service team. They easily said it costs 15k to fix it as the display is gone. We invested 60k on this useless piece of product and regret the same. Same price other good brands would have definitely given a better product. We have used TVs for 10-15 years without problems. This is insane waste of money. Please rethink before buying this.

Well Worth It

I wanted to get a new TV, but was overwhelmed by the choices. In the end I opted for this TCL model. The box was so light I wondered if they had forgot to put the TV in! Once you plug it in, its fairly simple to set up. You need WiFi for the catch up and Freeview Play. I ended up with more channels, as this is Freeview HD. Picture quality is excellent. The menu takes a little navigating, and there are quite a few presets for different picture effects, ie gaming, films, music etc. Sound quality is relatively good quality with the built in speakers, but a sound bar does make a difference. It has the ARC/eARC output, as well as optical. There are only 2 HDMI ports, despite the pictures depicting 3, and only 1 USB. The only bad point about the picture quality is with fast moving objects, which sometimes judder across the screen. There is an option to control this, but then the picture seems to flicker. Seems to be worse when watching older TV programmes, rather than things in HD. This is common with QLED screens apparently. There are still quite a few features I havent yet tried. Freeview Play is handy, as are having the catch up apps built in. You can add more apps if you like, and there is a TCL menu option, which is a streaming service which looks quite interesting. Youcan also get the TCL app on your phone, which amongst other things acts as a remote control. If you are looking to upgrade an older TV, this is well worth considering. I am happy with the TV, and think it is worth the price.
