Ive contacted TCL they made me trouble shoot and make the TV even more dysfunctional also wasted hours on the phone. I contacted good guys they told me to contact TCL. Ive never experienced such terrible customer service. I wish I never purchased this terrible TV. Good guys shouldnt be selling products that dont work. This nightmare is ongoing. Ill never purchase from TCL and Im disappointed that the Good Guys are not helping me.

Don't know how many stars to give because the TV was faulty straight out of the box. It looks like the picture might be nice if it would stay still and stop flickering. I contacted Good Guys who said call TCL for approval to return it to them or possible in home swap under warranty. Called TCL and asked them to fix or swap. TCL says that it may have been damaged in transport or storage by courier, retailer, or us, so it has to be swapped instore so they can assess physical condition. We didn't damage it and it's probably not Good Guys fault either that the TV was faulty because the box looked ok when we picked it up but it is still annoying that it is faulty when you are dealing with a product that is this big. I think TCL should have come and inspected and tested the TV at my home and then offered an in home swap if no physical damage to the TV. The TV is huge and it doesn't fit in our SUV and I don't have a ute or a van. I don't think it is right that I should have to hire one again to return a faulty product of this size. I am disappointed that TCL didn't offer an in home replacement for a new TV of this size and value. We haven't heard anything from either side in over 2 weeks regarding an instore swap but I don't know who's at fault for the delay in contacting us. I will have to follow up with TCL on Monday.

Sadly this TV is basically a lemon. Good premium budget tv
6 August 2022

I spent almost double than the base model for the full array backlight feature on this tv. Whilst this was a premium for the budget brand, it was still significantly cheaper than what the name brands are selling full array TVs for and overall I am happy with it. I do think you notice the deeper darks on UHD content, however if I was on a budget, I would have just as easily gone for the base model, as when you look at all the TVs in store its hard to distinguish differences imo unless you are a video critique. One of the things I have noticed since upgrading my tv (from a 42inch bought about 10 years ago) is that a significant number of FTA channels arent actually in 4K which does I think once you hit the 65in size become just noticeable. One of the things I have noticed since upgrading my tv (from a 42inch bought about 10 years ago) is that a significant number of FTA channels arent actually in 4K which does I think once you hit the 65in size become just noticeable. I think it would be particularly noticeable with any larger tv and Im glad I settled on the 65in. It has also prompted me to reacquire some movies and series I own to 4K/Bluray quality, as you definitely do notice the difference compared to digital copies bought many years ago in SD or Standard HD. In saying that the upscaling technology does a good job at presenting these as best as possible. Having to setup the google account was a bit of a chore and if you havent had a SmartTV before, youll quickly come to release they are now fully flung computers rather than TV simply with inputs. After getting the apps I wanted, I also changed my Tv to APP only mode which has reduced the amount of diatribe recommendations flung at you when you turn the screen on, however a few still remain.Seeing an advert for Love Island every time you turn it on is annoying, however I believe this is more the fault of the google ecosystem which most tvs now have. There are some qualms with online reviews about the longevity and quality control of TCL TVs, however if you dig a bit deeper, I found that almost all warranty claims on TVs are painful, even the big named brands which offer lesser term warranties seemed to have people complaining. I am going on the basis that hopefully it will last me the three years and some more. If not, at least I will have paid half the price of a brand name tv and I can just replace it again with newer features for still less than what a brand name would have cost me.

Good with reservations

The picture is good, the sound is better that my last TV, the initial set-up was straight forward, no probs - but there are a couple of annoying features I need to find work-arounds for. TV tells me there is no internet connection when there is - when I check it always confirms the connection is active. Turning the screen off to listen to music or the radio is currently a 6 step menu process - adjusting the volume while in 'screen off' mode immediately cancels 'screen off' and you're back to square one.YouTube periodically interrupts proceedings to ask me to sign in (fine if you want to but I don't).My previous TV turned on automatically when it received a signal from the Blu-ray player. TCL Google TV can't do this - there are no numbers on the remote. The operating manual supplied with the TV only skims the basics, it provides no insights into the more complex setting adjustments.Doubtless the next iteration will be better. For the price, I would recommend this TV - but only if the buyer is a bit tech savvy.

Great bang for buck

Was looking for a 2nd TV for streaming and movie watching, with the odd game thrown in. Medium size room faces large bifold door, so while not large glare, brightness was important. TV has suited space perfectly, and good all round viewing.Very slight blooming in certain dark scenes with isolated bright spots, but for the price range it's a PQ that is better than it's price range.System responsiveness and stability has been good, and was shipped with Google TV - no updates been pushed though by TCL, had to source manual firmware updates. Half a star lost here. Good app support as expected with Android OS. Voice control has worked mostly - sometimes won't turn off when on Screen Saver mode through voice control. Not bad but not very good either
15 June 2022

Overall Ok product. However, the android tv UI is very slow, sometimes even takes about 5 seconds for something to happen after pressing a button on the remote. I have also noticed that sometimes the screen goes dim even tv is playing a video, just like how the screen goes dim on a phone if it is not touched for a while. I was able to disable most of the preinstalled apps but not Stan. Sometimes Netflix tries to open itself automatically (tv shows a black screen with text Oepaning Nexflix) even when the Netflix app was disabled. This interrupted me constantly while watching videos on youtube and restarting the TV did not fix it. All of this made me think that maybe I should have spent a bit more money and gotten a better tv.

REALLY ANNOYED AT THIS TV
3 August 2022

For me to buy a new TV was a big deal, big decision. I have never had more frustration and HATE the TV still. Although I was very grateful that Maroochydore sent their tech out to correct the setup, it is still doing much of what it was doing before, NOT going directly to TV, dramas with getting it to TV, flipping off just when you think you are there, not setting to the channel you think you are going to settling fort he one net door to it, or changing back to ''streaming'. I do not understand why it cannot be set DIRECTLY TO TV with the option to go to a far away place when you want streaming rather than it bringing up a streaming screen and then you have to fight your way over too many TV apps sitting there to the right one to then have to push around ten buttons ... MoreFor me to buy a new TV was a big deal, big decision. All of this frustration to me could have been solved by having the CHANNEL numbers ON THE REMOTE, so logical S you can do things the normal way of pushing the channel desired 7, 9 or 10 or... why make a simple process so difficult Or has it still not been set up the way I asked for it to be ie TV first streaming - as a secondary extra only like going into AV or something, if by any chance I remotely desire it which I don't most of the time.. As a result I'm still watching any catchup on my ipad as it seems simple to get to from there and brings up on a daily date i.e. ACA catch up, shows about ten days worth all dated - trying to watch it on TV, cannot get to it, then if I remotely do like I did once could only watch one episode, had no idea when it screened, then couldn't get to the next one.. haven't tried streaming since as I lost 3 hours just trying to find that one. Q...Could I have bought another brand of TV that doesn't work this way and runs as a TV which after all is what I thought I was buying! Incidentally I know 2 other people I know having this same problem, to long to get to a TV channel and wish they had never bought this TV. What have TCL done wrong or is this a setup issue still

You get what you pay for.

Im very happy with my tv. I briefly had a cheap tv from Aldi and immediately could see the sound and vision were very very bad. Although I am not a gamer or watching sport (which they use as a benchmark for what viewers need), I studied film and expect good rich colour and solid sound. The Metz tv gives me both those. Easy to set up. Lovely quality. Colour is vibrant. My living room is darkish and it performs well. I got a good price and bought an extended warranty even though the tv comes with a generous three years. If you want a mid price tv this is an ecpxecllent choice. V cheap tvs are for kids play rooms. Not for me. My standard is higher as Im watching foreign films and character dramas. Im very happy.
