We got a 50" TCL we were super happy with after having our last tv over a decade. The upgrade was nice. This November 15th would be two years since the purchase, and the entire screen went completely out. Still have audio but no picture whatsoever. Pathetic on its own not to mention the others who've had the exact same issue. Ridiculous waste of time and money, and TCL will do nothing for you except respond to your review telling you "ya should've gotten an extended warranty". Yes, that was my fault for having faith in your company's quality. TBH I would love to buy another TCL since I know exactly how to use it already, but fool me once....

It's so, SO nice to not have to worry about crap tv interfaces anymore. As much as I wish GoogleTV wasn't so packed with ads, I do understand they need to pay the bills. And it's a lifesaver for cheaper OEMs like TCL, Vizio, Hisense, etc - no longer do they need to spend money on developing their own, probably awful OS - just like Android, they can slap GoogleTV on there and at least people will be able to find their way around. It's even more important for TVs than phones because the hardware is so much more limited - if you have to spend 5 seconds waiting for a remote button press to actually do anything onscreen, you really want to know you're going to the right place, and GoogleTV helps develop muscle memory. As for the hardware itself? It's fine, you get what ... MoreIt's so, SO nice to not have to worry about crap tv interfaces anymore. As for the hardware itself? It's fine, you get what you pay for - the audio is passable, the brightness could be a little better but fine for the cost. All and all, for the sale price at Target, I think it's worth buying. I have had mine for a month now, and I think I'll be buying another one to replace an 8 year old Vizio in my bedroom.

I was shopping around for a "smaller" 40-50" range and was considering Sony Bravia TVs @ the $400-$600 range and came across this. I have always gone with the "name brands" like Samsung and LG but I'll tell you, the Google TV interface on this is leaps and bounds faster and smoother with no annyoing interface lag when moving around the smart TV apps. I experienced such bad lag on my much more expensive LG that I bought a standalone Google TV Chromecast to try to alleviate. Same goes for Samsung, the UI is bogged down and slow to operate, where this TCL, is shockingly responsive and smooth, all for just over $200! I recently bought the TCL 75" Class S5-Series 4K UHD HDR LED Smart Google TV for my 14-year-old, and let me just say, I’ve lost him. Gone. Vanished into the vast and pixel-perfect landscape of his room, where this TV now reigns supreme.First off, 75 inches is not just a TV size, it’s a life decision. I had no idea I was basically installing a mini IMAX theater. Now, when I go to call him for dinner, I can hear the booming sounds of explosions and dialogue from the latest video game or movie, but I can’t find him—he’s somewhere deep within the immersive 4K world, probably having a casual conversation with some NPC.The Google TV interface is so smooth that even I can figure it out, which is saying something because I’m still mystified by half the features on my ... MoreI recently bought the TCL 75" Class S5-Series 4K UHD HDR LED Smart Google TV for my 14-year-old, and let me just say, I’ve lost him. Now, when I go to call him for dinner, I can hear the booming sounds of explosions and dialogue from the latest video game or movie, but I can’t find him—he’s somewhere deep within the immersive 4K world, probably having a casual conversation with some NPC.The Google TV interface is so smooth that even I can figure it out, which is saying something because I’m still mystified by half the features on my smartphone. As for my 14-year-old? He’s a tech wizard, so within minutes, he was downloading apps, setting up voice commands, and telling the TV to play his entire playlist of Lo-fi beats for studying... though, mysteriously, I’ve yet to see any studying. The picture quality is amazing, so real it’s almost creepy. I walked in one night, and for a second, I thought he had invited a celebrity over to hang out. Nope, it's just the 4K doing its thing again. And the HDR? It’s like every movie scene has been sprinkled with magic. I half-expect to get blinded whenever I open the door, and sunlight hits the screen. In conclusion, this TV is both a blessing and a curse. On the one hand, my 14-year-old is happier than ever. On the other hand, I now have to bribe him to leave his room. Do yourself a favor—if you’re buying this for your teen, you might want to also invest in a good old-fashioned intercom system because you’ll need it!Five stars, would lose my child to it again.
I have severely mixed feelings about this TV. I bought it to replace a 49” TCL 4k TV I’ve had for about 5 years. The screen is very nice. The bezel is very thin so the screen barely has a border. Once you set the picture to your liking, movies, TV, and YouTube all look great. It’s not going to compete with sunlight, but the screen is bright. I turned my brightness to about 65% (but I mostly watch at night and/or in a darkened room).Connected instantly with my Sony soundbar, and controls its volume with the tv remote. I HATE that when you adjust volume there no number or progress bar to show you how far you have it to min or max. It has a little pop up display that shows you are adjusting the volume, but not if it’s at 50% or 100%. Not a dealbreaker but I never ... MoreI have severely mixed feelings about this TV. It has a little pop up display that shows you are adjusting the volume, but not if it’s at 50% or 100%. Not a dealbreaker but I never thought I’d miss such a small feature. The issue I have is that the google software is SLOW. My older TCL is a Roku TV which for the most part is much faster. Booting up it’s got a TCL logo, then an animated TCL logo and then a Google logo. Going from menu to menu and to apps there’s a mild delay. It does not seem to have a very good antenna to catch WiFi. I pay for gigabit Verizon fios and I live in a small apartment. It took a couple of attempts to get the TV to even connect to WiFi, and then it updated its software and took like 20+ minutes. It then could barely connect to the apps to let me log in to my streaming services. The other OLDER TCL tv I moved to bedroom continues to have no issues with connection or streaming. After turning the TV off, restarting my network, and letting it sit for a bit, it established a better connection… sufficient enough to finish setup and get my apps going. But trying to stream in 4k on Disney+ or YouTube causes constant buffering. Again, no issues with any other device in my apartment (multiple computers, iPad, phone, PlayStation and other TV), only this TV.Not impressed that my brand new, out of the box TV has issues the 5+ year old TV doesn’t have. Especially since it’s meant to replace the old tv as my primary entertainment device. What’s the point of having a 4K TV if the only thing you can watch is a spinning circle in the middle of the screen?I don’t know if it’s possible, but a firmware update to add volume numbers would be a good start. But I haven’t found a solution to the WiFi issue online other than to check my network (duh), try unplugging the TV for a minute (can’t wait to have to do this on the regular), or factory reset the tv (fantastic, another entire night devoted to setting up everything again).
I was very hesitant buying this tv due to some of the reviews I read! Of course there were good and bad just as in anything. I took my chances and I’m glad I did! The picture on the this tv is bright and very clear! I love it! The sound is good but that wasn’t a big concern to me because I have the tv connected to surround sound! Very easy to setup and figure out! Very easy to use! The salesman was very informative and very helpful! He helped me make my decision. I came home to think about it then decided I was getting it. Ordered it online and went to the store and they were so quick and told me to pull to the front and they measured to make sure it would fit and loaded it very carefully! Excellent picture. Easy to setup. It needed a lot less tweaking to get a great picture than my other new Hisense TV I recently bought for my man cave. I have this one in the living room mounted on the wall and everyone thinks it is a good upgrade over the older 75 inch Samsung I had. It is a great buy for the money. Of course you could spend more money on a full array local dimming TV the is QLED, but this one is just fine. This is the biggest TV I ever bought and must say it was the easiest to setup. Mounting was a breeze too. It has a very bright picture and works well in my living room which gets a lot of sunlight.
I say "these" in the title, because I bought two of them to merge together into a 100-inch 7680x2160 ultrawide multi-monitor setup with one of my PC's. I was previously using a couple other older TV's for this setup as sort of a trial run, decided I liked it, and figured I'd replace them with something a little better. These are definitely a step up from the two they're replacing. The contrast and black uniformity across the screen(s) is excellent, this TV does a great job with dark scenes. The overall picture quality on these is pretty fantastic for the price, and the Google TV interface is easy to use. As far as my use case with my PC, the input lag is very low (9-10ms). They feel very snappy and responsive as monitors. I've gamed on these for about 70 hours so far, and I've enjoyed every minute. The motion handling in particular on these is surprisingly good, some of the best I've seen on a 60hz panel. You can definitely tell the TV's motion processing is putting in work. Motion in games and videos is fluid and consistent. The brightness of the S5 isn't world-breaking, but it's sufficient for a dark to medium-lit room. If you live in a fishbowl with sunlight coming in from every direction, you may want to consider something else, but the brightness on these is plenty for most people. Reflection handling is good too. Other things I appreciate are the thin bezels, and the fact that these will stay on the input you had them set to prior to turning them off (if you select that option in the TV's settings). They won't force you to go to the home screen on start-up. I turn them on and I'm right at my computer's desktop. The only real con is that there is some dirty screen effect on them, but it's hardly noticeable in actual content. All in all I'd definitely recommend the S5. It is tough to beat for the price.

For the price this thing is great. I haven't had a new TV in quite a few years so I appreciate the auto change to certain TV modes like Dolby Vision when it detects that content. I paired it with a DTS:X compatible 2.1 soundbar and it's great. The picture quality seems good to me. It's very smooth and crisp. You can obviously play around with the settings to fine tune all of that to your liking. One of the even better things about this TV is the built in Google TV. It is faster than the Google Chromecast 4k with built in Google TV. That dongle is slow as heck and this built in one puts it to shame. If you've already invested in the Google TV area and like the Chromecast, this is a good choice.
