I will say that I’ve just hooked up this sound bar as of tonight. I purchased this purely based on price and features, I had a gift card, and essentially didn’t want to be in trouble with my wife. So my situation is that I have a 65 inch tcl roku TV, however the roku features aren’t used as the TV doesn’t get connected to the internet. However, I do use it with a fire stick. To be totally honest, I didn’t read the instructions, I’m a computer tech, and pretty much I pulled it out of the box, plugged the sub in at the back of the living room, placed the sound bar under the TV, connected power, plugged the hdmi into the hdmi arc port, and used the sound bar’s USB input as power for the fire stick. Upon turning on the TV, the TV automatically picked up the sound bar without me doing anything extra, and the fire stick booted up. I set the bar to movie mode. It sounded ok as is playing music from the fire stick. However, if you are using it in this manner, or with another device, set your device to Dolby Digital audio output. In my case, this made the sound bar sound even better than before. This accomplished what I wanted, which was that when I press the power button, the TV comes on, the sound bar comes on, and subsequently boots the fire stick that is plugged into the sound bar’s USB port. When I turn off the TV, the TV, fire stick and sound bar all turn off. For a roughly 100-120 dollar sound bar, the audio quality is good, and it has good features. Don’t buy this if you are expecting Yamaha or Bose. Truth be told, I sort of wanted a Polk audio sound bar that is listed here for almost 100 dollars more, but this was a compromise. I can’t speak to long term yet, but if what you have is 100-120 dollars, or you catch this on a sale, get it. It’s a nice item for what it is, especially for having hdmi arc. I did come from an older insignia sound bar that also had a sub, but no hdmi arc. This is probably on par with that. But there isn’t much on the tcl sound bar in the way of eq controls. So if you just want to set it up and not worry, this is a good unit.

I bought this because I have a TCL television that I like very much and wanted an easy ARC compatible sound quality upgrade from the internal speakers that was not too large for my small apartment. This set actually sounded worse than the internal speakers. Very tinny and muddy with no middle definition. With only 3 sound settings and no separate controls for bass and treble, you are stuck with the three presets which are bad, worse and awful. The subwoofer only works occasionally on "movie" setting, and when it does, it is nothing but rumble. Bass from the sub is nonexistent with the other settings, maybe mine was defective. I returned this unit and bought a Yamaha for a few more dollars, sounds great.

I was lucky enough to have my son here when I received my TCL TS611 Dolby Audio 2.1 Channel Sound bar with Roku TV Ready, and Wireless Subwoofer; which of course he was able to very easily read the instructions, then set the entire system up for me. Luckily, I do have a "ROKU" television, which has multiple ports, which I never would have realized that having it on the #1 port makes all the difference with this system, thanks to my extremely intelligent son. The very first time I tried this system was when I wanted to watch a DVD Movie. Now, whenever we would try to watch anything on the DVD Player, for some reason, we could never hear the movie hardly at all. Now with the Sound System all set up, I turned on my DVD Movie. I was absolutely blown away, it was amazing. I not only could hear the movie, it sounded to me like I was actually sitting in a movie theater! So, I would very much recommend this system. Especially to all the surround sound lovers out there that like the sound & feel of being in a movie theater. Even maybe if you have a child, or teen that would like a better sound for his/her Xbox games, or even to make their movie sound experience as I have, go for it, its well worth it.

Wow! I am so amazed about the TCL “2021” TS611 2.1 Channel Sound Bar with the wireless Subwoofer. It certainly has an awesome Dolby sound, which is great and very well-balanced. I can hear the base woofers, and it has a great amount of mid. It’s not very sharp, is excellent in delivering the sound, and has a nice base which is not overbearing. It has that powerful, dynamic 3-dimension surround sound like I’m at the movies, but I’m actually at home. Also, it plays the most awesome, dynamic music, which sounds like I’m at a real, live concert. I can hear the clarity of the mid-range and the upper mid-range in the sound-bar, and that thump sound in the base part of the sub-woofer, which is so extraordinary! It was very easy to setup, and came with a mounting assembly, which is optional. The wireless subwoofer connects to the sound bar by Bluetooth. Excellent! The box imprint says it’s for TV’s 55” inches and up, but this surround system was programmed to my 43” inch TCL Roku and it worked tremendously well! I must say I am very highly impressed of the TCL “2021” TS611 2.1 Channel Sound Bar with the wireless Subwoofer. The sound is extremely dynamic and delivers a powerful live entertainment in my home. This system is simply outstanding, and I love it!
I got this soundbar to replace an LG soundbar I had been using with my smart tv. That soundbar had a built-in subwoofer and the difference in having a separate subwoofer is night and day. I also think the sound in general is better on the TCL soundbar. It was amazingly easy to set up, you really just plug the soundbar and the subwoofer into electric outlets, then plug the soundbar into the tv with the included HDMI cable. I am using it in my HDMI-ARC input so that I can control it with the remote control for my tv, but it does come with its own remote control as well, so you can use it with Bluetooth or an optical cable if you want to. Once you have it plugged in, the subwoofer automatically connects to the soundbar and you have sound. If you need to reconnect the soundbar to the subwoofer, there are instructions printed on the back of the subwoofer that tell you how to reconnect. I think this is great because the instructions are written on the speaker, but I did think it was a little strange that this was not mentioned at all in the very small instruction book that came with the speaker. The speaker has three modes which are TV, Movie, and Music. You can change the mode using the remote control. I originally started using it in Movie mode but had to change to TV mode to watch regular shows as the bass was pretty loud in Movie mode. The bass works great, we are really enjoying watching movies and listening to music a lot more than we did with our previous soundbar. We have not had any issues with the subwoofer losing its connection with the soundbar, but one thing I would have liked to see on this is a way to control the subwoofer itself. As it is, the remote only controls the soundbar and the soundbar apparently controls the subwoofer. So the bass can get pretty loud depending on what you are watching. Other than that I am really impressed with this soundbar and subwoofer. I was already planning on getting a Roku TV when our current smart tv needs to be replaced and since this speaker system is made to work with the TCL Roku TV, that is what I will buy.
I am only giving a 3 rating without actually being able to use the device. The box came and appeared to have been "retaped." The product was missing the optical cable which makes the process of setting up the device an easier process. I suspect this was a returned item and that someone conveniently kept the cable. I am having the challenge of a lifetime setting it up with only the HDMI Arc feature. It is difficult to pair the device with the subwoofer. I tried calling the TCL Support Line but was on hold longer than I could afford to be. I am sure someone will deliver me the missing part that should have come with my purchase.
Well, it's a decent soundbar for TV audio or gaming but it has terrible audio quality for music. Disappointing. I have several Vizio soundbars one is 5.1, the other a closer match to this one as a 2.1 setup and the Vizio, hand's down is better for all around usage -in particular sounds great for music. I listened to an in-store demo setup of these and they TCL must have really tweaked the music clip to ensure it sounded great. I was sold but it wasn't even close at home even when adjusting Bass / Treble controls. The main purpose to buying this sound bar was as an alternative to PC Speakers but the music audio quality is so poor, I went back to my 20 year old Altec Lansing 2.1 PC Speaker set.
I have worked to set this up for a week now. I can get sound from the soundbar but not the subwoofer at all. I have tried every HDMI port, an optical connection, but the subwoofer won't pair to anything. The instructions are mostly about wall mounting which I don't need. I have searched online for help to no avail. I have Direct TV for the time being and it takes the number 1 HDMI port. I tried a splitter and got no tv or sound. I am not savvy, but not an idiot either. Very frustrating. If I don't get this connected TODAY, it is going back, sadly. I think it would be great if the subwoofer would work! If anyone has an idea, please HELP! Would much appreciate it.
I've had this just over one year and it is failing. The sub began it's issue about 6mo ago when it would either not work without power cycling it or it would freak out and get so loud it would have to be unplugged. Which is what it took to reset it anyway. In the last week though, the whole system will randomly turn off, which then the TV speakers take over, or would just go mute and need to be turned off then on again. Great sound when it works. Of course, just over a year and failing is not good. Lesson learned, spend the extra money for the next level. Don't go with least expensive, even in a quality brand. It was only about $100 so I guess that it was almost worth it.
So this thing works great, and there aren’t a lot of ways to mess it up, but I sure found a way. My husband got this for Christmas. Setup was easy, until it wasn’t. We didn’t need the optical cord. We connected the sound bar via hdmi (ARC). Where we messed up is the subwoofer doesn’t really have instructions to pair with the bar if it doesn’t automatically connect. We automatically tried to connect via the Bluetooth button. Wrong. So wrong. You have to press the button w/ the arrow, which was not in the guide. We had to look it up via internet. We thought that we were in the clear, but nooooope. I read from the questions forum, and this thing is really temperamental if you don’t do it the right way the first time. The Bluetooth would NOT stop trying to pair with something. That canceled out our hdmi connection. The actual manual is not included, and this bar doesn’t have a reset button on the back or anything like that. I saw some stuff about holding down the mute button, which made some white lights pop up, and look like it was resetting, but then it went right back to flashing for a Bluetooth connection. Eventually I just started messing with everything. Turning it off for 5 minutes, unplugging for 5 minutes, undoing everything and reconnecting…none of it worked. Then, I had the thought to hold down the power button. I held it down for ~8 seconds and then a purple/white light came on and it did a sort of restart thing! I didn’t find anything online about that and the questions were not very helpful at all. We, after an hour of googling, were about to just throw it back in the box and go to the store for a new one. Overall, sound is great. Setup seems to be a 50/50. If for any reason you need to restart and yours just had the quick start like ours, hold down the power button!
