It started in 1995 with a Dual CS505-4 which has served me well until the hifi moved to the conservatory. Warm rooms and belt drive do not make good companions. It had to be direct drive. The Dual gives plenty of emotion but sometimes leaves you wondering where it came from. The Technics leaves you in no doubt. Set up was not to difficult although getting the tone arm balanced took a couple of goes. Sound through a PMA450R and a pair of original B&W600i's is fantastic even picking up a few notes that have been lost on the Dual. Annoyance: Auto lift is way to early and not adjustable, the Dual wins that one, never too early to lift off. The Dual will get a second Life in a new home. And hopefully the Technics will last as long.

I've wanted a Technics turntable for some time and after some research decided to buy the SL-1500c and am very pleased with my purchase.Set up was straightforward and I had the turntable up and running in about 15 minutes. The build quality is great, the turntable is heavy and feels substantial. The sound quality is excellent, plenty of definition and who knew that turntables could produce such low bass notes? In fact the way it handles bass frequencies is brilliant with the sound being really tight and defined. Overall the sound quality is excellent and the turntable well worth the price.

I bought this turntable just over a week ago after deciding to replace my Onkyo 1050 turntable After much research I decided to go for the SL1500 C. I have been amazed at the quality of the Technics and although it’s running in I am very pleased with the performance. I have been buying from Richer Sounds for 30 years, usually my local shop in Leicester, but having moved to the sticks used the telephone sales service. Dave was great to deal with. Overall, great product supplied by a great company.

I bought this turntable online together with Ruark Mr1 active Bluetooth speakers. Not being particularly tech.savvy, I initially read as much advice I could glean via the internet. I then understood that, as this turntable has a built in phono equaliser, I would only require active speakers which have built in amplifiers, and a cable to connect the speakers to the turntable. On delivery I was delighted with the products and my husband and I followed the instructions on how to set them up. However, it wasn't clear to us as to which additional cable I was required to purchase to connect the speakers to the turntable and how. Consequently I contacted the John Lewis customer services, who were very understanding, but just as puzzled, and they gave me the contact details ... MoreI bought this turntable online together with Ruark Mr1 active Bluetooth speakers. Consequently I contacted the John Lewis customer services, who were very understanding, but just as puzzled, and they gave me the contact details for Panasonic. Within 24 hours Panasonic advised us to buy a 3.5 mm stereo cable and eureka, we now have a connected system. What a joy it is to listen to our vinyl records again including our 78s. The turntable is smart, simple to use and via the speakers a good sound quality is produced. I, therefore, wish to thank the John Lewis and Panasonic staff for their excellent customer services teams during these challenging lockdown times.
I purchased this turntable 2 weeks ago and upon connecting it up and turning it on I was aware of a buzzing noise from the left channel. I swapped the interconnect leads, mains lead, moved the turntable further away from the amplifier; disconnected the speakers and used headphones, but nothing helped.I was forced to return the turntable to my dealer, (Richer Sounds Bournemouth) who tried all of the above checks but then the manager swapped the head shell with an identical one from another new turntable and the buzzing noise stopped, so a faulty cartridge must have caused the problem.I am surprised that Ortofon do not check all of their cartridges before they leave the factory, as this fault caused me a great deal of time and trouble. The replacement turntable ... MoreI purchased this turntable 2 weeks ago and upon connecting it up and turning it on I was aware of a buzzing noise from the left channel. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from this store agin.
I read a lot of reviews about the Technics SL1500c and competitor turntables before buying one. I wanted a well built turntable that offers some convenience in use, which requires very little faffing about with and which sounds great. However, just like any turntable, some setup is required to get the best out of it.Setting up doesn't take long and once this is done, this turntable does not disappoint. Whether using my amplifier's phono preamp or the turntables preamp, this turntable sounds wonderful. Also a big thanks to Liam at the Hanley branch who was helpful and friendly.
What a turntable! Arrived well packaged and easy to setup, bar one slightly confusion in the instructions which said to add both weights to the end of the tone arm and then adjust it. When using the cartridge supplied with the turntable you don't use the additional weight (the small one), just use the main weight and then it is easy to balance. Aside from this, it was plain sailing and with the onboard phono stage was quickly connected to the Marantz amp and B&W speakers. The turntable is very simple to use, seems really solid and well made which is unusual these days and sound quality wise, is astonishingly good. It's a far cry from my original turntable, (a Dual back on the late 80s) and astonishes me with how quiet the background noise is - when I used to play ... MoreWhat a turntable! It's a far cry from my original turntable, (a Dual back on the late 80s) and astonishes me with how quiet the background noise is - when I used to play records they would drive me mad with the crackles and surface noise but that seems to have been left in the past. I also listened a lot to my parent's Linn Axis turntable and this Technics turntable seems to have an improved sound to that as well. It's a joy to listen to records on this, the bass in particular is very pleasant to listen to, giving a nice full sound without being overly boomy, just great to listen to and although it's an overly used phrase, hear things you haven't heard before on well loved albums. Individual instruments are brought out in a cohesive manner and album after album just sounds superb. Best advice - go and listen to one yourself. I've high hopes for the durability of this after setting it up and using it and the reviews of the direct drive mechanism seem to back this up. Hopefully this will be spinning happily for many years to come.
Many years ago I purchased a Technics Turntable, but with the decline in Vinyl I, it went into a Skip at the Local Refuse Site. Big mistake. Having just purchased a Denon 3500H from Richer Sounds, I wanted to get the best from the system with TV and Audio. Having added 4K TV and a UHD Player, I decided to purchase a Turntable in order to play my Vinyl Albums again that had been laying in a Cupboard for almost 30 years. Having checked the Richer Sounds website and What HiFi site, I decided to go with the Technics 1500C. Paul, who I accept as my account manager provided me with a good quote, and I took up the option irrespective of being in Lockdown. Delivery was quick and efficient. With some advice from Dan, the Richer Sounds Agent, I quickly set up the product with the Denon AVR system. The outcome was amazing. I forgot how great Vinyl's sound through stereo. The Technics turntable was a very well built product that looks good and feels good. However, the sound it produces was crystal clear, and brought it so many frequencies that help you pick up the voice and instrumental tones easily. Thank you to Paul at Richer Sounds for his help over the last 6 months in creating a fantastic system, and for Dan, in assisting me with the addition of the Technics 1500C.
I absolutely love this turntable, I've always been a big fan of technics hifi, it's a real nice piece of kit plays great. I put some new chord company leads on the back sounds really nice, as always it's well built like a tank, I've changed a few things like the mat added a record weight, I'm very happy with my purchase. And thanx to the guys who are always welcoming. Thank you richer sounds it's always a pleasure shopping with you.
I am only marginally invested in vinyl at this point but still have albums I enjoy listening to from time to time. My long time B & O turntable has been acting up and I decided to replace it. The reviews for new units in the price range I was interested in ($300-$400) were inconsistent so I decided to look at some vintage units. I had a Technics once upon a time but lost it along with all my gear in a robbery. I liked it then and decided to invest in a used unit. So far I've been very happy with it. The unit is very solid and came with a new, albeit low end, cartridge which I will probably upgrade assuming the unit passes a trial period. So far so good!
