This rice cooker makes a perfect bowl of rice! The rice is fluffy and just the right consistency. I was always wondering how they cook this prefect rice at asian restaurants... and here is the answer - use the right appliance! :) Keep in mind it's not a pressure cooker, so it takes around 40 minutes to cook rice. My previous multi-cooker would cook the same amount of rice in just 6 minutes, but the result was sticky messy porridge. It never came out fluffy regardless of water/grains proportion. So it depends on your preferences - if you don't mind to wait a bit longer for prefect rice than it's the right product for you, but if you want your rice to be cooked in minutes - look at pressure cookers. This is an alright rice cooker. I've used it a few times so far and I like the other functions far more than the actual rice cooker part. It has options for things like soup and slow cooked meals, which is wonderful, and what I bought it for. It takes more than half an hour to cook 2 cups of rice, which is the only reason I scored it lower. The bowl inside is a very good size. I wish the instructions for the recipes were a little more detailed (ie, the claypot instructions say to put the rice and water in; when it beeps, you put the other ingredients in. No instructions on if anything else needs to be cooked previously, or what sorts of things you can use.)

The deep, spherical bowl is non-stick and a generous size. It is easy to cook the perfect amount of rice, just measure the rice, add water, push a few buttons and then forget. Admittedly, the rice does cook slower than some traditional rice cookers, but the results from this Tefal machine are so much better. The rice is light and fluffy and perfectly cooked each time. It takes away all the guess work. A good appliance that is easy to use and gives good results. It is quiet when operating and doesn’t generate too much steam. There is a little dripping from the lid when you open the lid at the end of cooking. I fixed that by popping a bit of kitchen paper at the hinge end just as I opened it to soak up the dripping condensation. The rice and slow cook functions produce excellent results with minimum effort. I’m still trying to perfect the clay pot function. The downside is the lack of recipes to get you started with that function. If Tefal could fix that and give a bit more detail in the user manual I would give it 5 stars.
Fantastic piece of kitchen appliance! Exactly what I have been looking for! For cooking rice, it does takes a bit longer to cook but rice comes out fluffy and tastes great. So far, I have also cooked mixed vegetable clear soup, One-pot Chicken&Mushroom rice, meat mix rice, Chicken&Potato Curry and Beef Rendang in it. It's just so simple to use, no mess and no fuss. I'm sure my next cook, Beef Stew and then Risotto, would be great too. Not to mention that its so easy to clean. And the steaming basket is also a bonus for cooking a healthy side of greens, dumplings, etc.. Select from the pre-set programs on the control panel for different cooking timings and leave it. I loved using the Tefal rice and slow cooker. Works amazingly. Easy to use. Stews came out perfect. Once you work out how much water to put in for your rice, it comes out fluffy and cooked to perfection. I really enjoyed testing this product out and since it arrived roughly 6 days ago, I’ve used it 4 times. It’s extremely worth getting. I can’t wait to test out the other functions besides the rice cooker and slow cooker. My only negatives are, it doesn’t come with a recipe book which would be so beneficial and also you need to be very careful when opening the lid. I found it does drip water and can go onto the power plug and around the bench which is concerning. I open it very slowly and quick put paper towel between the lid and the bowl so it catches the water.
Just got it few weeks ago due to upgrade from my panasonic rice cooker. It's conveniently with digital led timer. Multiple cooking programs. Beep sound when it finished. I tried with jasmine rice that totally look fluffy and tasty. Non-stick and deep curly pot that reducing waste of rice when its gonna be stick in the pot if you was cooked less than 2 cups. Negative: pot is a bit heavy, LED board doesn't show totally time need to cook. Only show the time when it has 3-5 mins left.
This Rice & Slow Cooker has a small footprint & is ideal for a small family . Minimum amount of rice it cooks is 2 cups & wasn’t suitable for my use as l only need to cook 3/4 cup of raw rice at a time as there are only two of us to cook for. The 2 cups of rice l was obligated to cook took 30 minutes to completion of cooking…. a little disappointing as l was looking for a shorter cooking time . The slow cooker is effective & cooks meat beautifully & tenderly…. I can recommend this for a small group or family. Good price from Myer compared to other online companies.
