Was originally hesitant about the product when received but this product clearly exceeded my expectations. I have cooked red beans on the first day with minimal spices (salt, chilli) in nutrition mode and it cooked so well and the taste was so good that I didn't need to add anything with it. I also then cooked brown rice with lentils which came out very good too. The only thing is that it takes some time to complete cooking in nutrition mode but other modes do the job quite quick can't complain. The soaking functionality is very handy to cook beans as I prefer fresh to canned and this helped me to continue with fresh beans. Overall I am pretty impressed with this cooker and one of my friends who tasted my cooking with this cooker also bought. So big

The cooker is outstanding, and I feel is worth the money (if you can afford it) over a cheaper rice cooker. The build quality is very solid, and the bowl is dishwasher-safe. The programs for cooking chickpeas and lentils are amazing! Makes curries that would otherwise require overnight soaking much more doable. Shipping from Myer was extraordinarily slow however, so I can't really recommend you buy from them over anywhere else.

Very clever machine. I can see it getting more and more simple to use every time I use it. It is easy to clean, which is always a big plus, and comes with a tasty sounding recipe book. Our 1st meal in the Multicook and grains, was out of the book. I made the Corgette and chickpea gratin with cheese. It cooked exactly as it was supposed to and came out looking like the photo in the book. For the 1st use I followed the instructions and recipe to the letter, but I now feel more confident to tweak the recipes to our tastes. I would love to find more recipes for this machine. Without using the book, I'm not yet confident with how long to cook things for or at what temperature/program. I'm sure that will come with time, but for now I'd be very happy to purchase a book of ... MoreVery clever machine. I can see it getting more and more simple to use every time I use it. I loved exploring what this cooker had to offer! The step by step guide is an immense help, the manual does need to be read thoroughly to get a clear understanding of the icons displayed and to know important instructions like to change the condensation tray. I had hoped there was a pause button at one stage, but after cooking time the keep warm function it switched to did not overcook my meal. I found the texture selection was a matter of getting use to, as i had selected normal for white rice but turns out my usual method and preference of cooking white rice is more similar to it being 'soft' texture. I love how sturdy but LIGHT the bowl is, and the coating and grooves make it very non-stick. Loved how quickly it heats up in the browning program too. I'm very very happy how quickly it soaks and cooks raw chickpeas. I've also done a cauliflower soup which turned out delicious. I haven't as yet followed the recipes in the book to a tee but i have used it as a guide for other dishes.
I thought it was too complicated to do the simple things like cook brown rice versus my rice cooker (we cook brown rice at least 3 times a week without any problem). I liked the way dried beans didn't need to soak overnight because I had stopped using them and was buying canned instead which need rinsing. None of the recipes appeal as and now I am used to canned beans I find them much easier to make bean and sweet potato nachos in a saucepan over the gas flame, cooking it slowly and adding my spices as it cooks is a pleasure, the kids get excited when they can smell it. So overall I find it easier to cook from scratch as I do and just use my rice cooker (it can steam too) and my one pot saucepan building and developing dishes as I go. I loved just how quickly the MultiCook & Grain let me make lentil soup. I've literally never been able to make anything with lentils this quick, and without requiring a pre-soak! I'm looking forward to using it for dried chickpeas really soon. It has many functions which I was worried would become overwhelming, but once I got it open and started using it, I realised it's actually not overwhelming at all and very user friendly.
I have never made quinoa before and so I picked the quinoa and tabbouleh salad with toasted seeds. I enjoyed cooking with all the fresh ingredients and tasting as I went. It definitely was a super healthy meal. I look forward to trying more new grains and the slow cooker option.
Excellent rice perfect. Only used it once to make a one pot pasta dish. Will try other recipes. Great quality light weight and easy to clean. Very happy with this product. Only 4 star rating as instruction manual is not very clear and writing is very small.
Although the MultiCook seemed quite daunting when it first arrived, I was plesently surprised with how easy it is to use. I started with a basic rice and it was perfect. Recipes in the book look great, but as a vegetarian a little more meat free options would be great. All in all a very helpful and useful machine to help me choose a little more nutritiously in my cooking.
When the Tefal MultiCook & Grain arrived, I was amazed at the size & sleekness of the machine. The recipes inside looked impressive but I thought I'd start off with something basic like cooking rice, something that even I couldn't get wrong! It was simple & easy to use, & the rice turned out great (maybe even a bit better than my Asian rice cooker would do). I am so looking forward to trying out some of the other functions. Will definitely be using it to cook lentils & other legumes. The bread function looks interesting as well & the kids want to try out some of the other functions & recipes as well in the school holidays
