I have the electronic version of this game and I love it SO much!! The game is really fun and it still takes a while to play regardless of the electronic money system but it's incredibly fun and a great option for spending time with the family. You pick from four different colors and then you decide which path you want to take, if you want to go to college and get a chance at a better career or if you want to jump right into life and work your way up. Every few spaces, you pass a Pay Day, where you get money based on your salary of the career you picked at random. You can buy a house later on by landing on a House space. You get action cards which are kind of like community chest or chance cards in Monopoly, but the action cards tell you what happens on your journey ... MoreI have the electronic version of this game and I love it SO much!! Once you pass a certain point in the beginning of the game, you get married. Later on you have the chance to land on a spot on the board where you have a baby, it tells you the gender of the baby and the amount of kids you have, single or twins. Half way through the game you can decide to go to Night school which is college for those who want a new career or for those who didn't go to college at the start of the game. At the very end, you can chose a retirement home to live at, a fancy home or a cottage in the country. You tally up all the money you have by the end of the game, you sell your home, based on what color the spinner lands on you sell your home for a more or lesser amount of money. You count how many kids you have and add 100k to you amount of money. Whoever has the most amount of money at the end of the game wins. :) It's a really really fun game to play and it's my second favorite board game after Monopoly. I highly recommend you buy this game if you enjoy a game of chance and making up stories for your character's life. This is a really fun game to play with the whole family or friends.

Format: ToyVerified PurchaseIn order to enjoy this game do not compare it to the original one. My kids (ages 6 and 9) love this game. They love a lot of the newer aspects like the different careers, the night school option to get a new career and the family path that gives more opportunities for having babies. The action cards are fun because some of them have start family conversation which is fun. One says "You started a band" (you either earn some money or have to pay for starting the band I forgot) and then it says what instruments does everyone play? Those questions just add to the fun. There are only a couple cons in my opinion. I am sad it is only 4 players and not 6. If you choose not to go to college you are probably not going to win. The jobs without college make $70,000 or less and the college jobs make $80,000-$120,000 or $130,000. I wish there was more of a chance for a career without college to make more money. I do miss the car and house insurances too! Overall it is a very fun game and my kids love to play it over and over again.

It had been years since I had played this game until we bought this for our kids. I personally think this is a great version for kids to play and learn the Game of Life. I will say, you can end up with a very big family playing this game as my daughter often ends up with two cars for her whole family instead of one. Lol The illustrations are cute and fun for kids and adults. It does contain a lot of real life basic events such as school, work, furthering your education later in life, making decisions about family, jobs, buying a home and more. I do also like that you can decide who you want to marry, you aren't forced into having a partner of the opposite gender. This is important to me as that is real life. Who we love isn't limited to someone of the opposite ... MoreIt had been years since I had played this game until we bought this for our kids. We do with our little ones who want to be a part of the game.

So I posted a review on this and it since disappeared but my photos did not, the new interface on this app will take some getting used to. I have the original game from 94/95. I will not update to a brand new game because my aunt that passed very suddenly helped put this game together. This has colored station wagons, stickers had to be placed, the cardboard rainbow had to be placed under the spinner, things had to be punched out/removed from what was holding them, the spinner gets stuck at times and doesn't spin properly 😂. The directions recommend placing a drop or 2 of mineral oil on the plastic tip that the spinner rests on, I've used baby oil- unscented of course and it worked just fine. My children and I love to play this game and I'm sure the upgraded game ... MoreSo I posted a review on this and it since disappeared but my photos did not, the new interface on this app will take some getting used to. I really recommend this game for anyone that lines to play board games with their friends or loved ones.
This is one of my family’s favorite board games to play. It teaches valuable life lessons like handling money, choosing a career path, paying for mortgages and children, etc while also having some silly competitions that make it enjoyable to play. There is a lot of money being given and taken away, so be prepared to count it all up at the end. Also—the spinner does spin very well at all.
When you are a child playing Life is the most original experience. There have been digitized versions that SIMulate Life. But we need to get back to Board Games. I recommend Life to other parents and children. We are a screen addicted society and we need family and social interaction. The Game of Life briefly and in understandable terminology serves as as introduction of the demands and joys of a human life span. You get married, get divorced, have children, have none. You pay bills, buy cars, houses. Children can be introduced to what typically happens when you grow up. They use their imagination as they move around the board using simplistic people pegs and cars. The Game of Life inspires children and families to communicate while also serving as a teachable moment.
What a fun family game! I have used this game in the classroom and at home with my kids. It is not only fun but easily begins a great conversation about their futures and how decisions we make early on can radically affect our future. I feel a little conflicted about the almost punishment players receive if they don't go to college, but again this brings up good conversation for us to have. I don't have a solution to my internal conflict but I think the game needs a bit of an update so that it doesn't continue to perpetuate job/education shaming. Most everything about the game is sturdy and easy to use but the people pieces are so tiny. This makes it easy for them to fall off the table and get lost. It also makes it impossible for some people with disabilities to be ... MoreWhat a fun family game! I have used this game in the classroom and at home with my kids. It also makes it impossible for some people with disabilities to be unable to fully participate without the aid of others. This isn't a big criticism as I don't expect any game to work for all abilities, it's just a warning for folks with fine motor skill issues to be aware. Overall, great game with underlying educational purposes.
My wife and I were on lockdown for Covid-19, and we wanted some board-games to play; I thought to myself, "I always loved playing LIFE with my family growing up, we should get that!"I was like a little kid on Christmas! I loved this game, and now I get to experience it with my wife, how could this get any better?!However, upon setting up the game, I was immediately disappointed. The board, the rules, the cash system, it was all totally different. We gave it a chance, but ended up returning it within a few weeksThis version is clearly directed towards children. in which case, it would be very easy to play and explain. The game is very easy to set up and play. I know it's hard to produce a good game but Hasbro has years of experience and unfortunately has let themselves down here. Instructions do seem confusing at first, but once playing the game you realise they aren't. It's actually such an easy game to play but it can be over within 10-15 minutes! And the spinning wheel keeps flying off, very frustrating. It's purely for kids, adults shouldn't play but should just stick to being the banker, that way he/she can make the game play last longer, such as by directing the game of play in a different direction or by choosing different cards. Overall my 6 year old son and I are extremely disappointed. It cost so much to buy and there isn't a great deal to get excited over. My son doesn't want to play it much, he's happy to ... MoreI know it's hard to produce a good game but Hasbro has years of experience and unfortunately has let themselves down here. This is an updated version from the original but this game is honestly so bizzare and unrealistic its hard play. And weve only had it two days. The spinner is really cheap and flimsy, you have to hold it when you spin or else it barely moves. The action cards are a joke. I get that its a kids game, but when you have action cards that basically have you spin every turn to figure out how much money you get from the bank. Example: “set up a school everyone wants to go to, collect 40k from the bank†yes... because if i set up a bank im going earn money before paying to set it up.This game is frustrating on all levels because not only does it not reflect life in anyway, the money is extremely high.
