I use this duffel on a daily basis now. It has become my go-to bag for daily life.My favorite thing about this bag is the sturdiness that it has and being waterproof. Yes, the Medium size is a bit big for daily wear but it's extremely convenient to have it and just throw it over the shoulders like a backpack. I originally bought this bag for daily/gym/travel because the Medium fits as a normal carry on bag. I would definitely recommend the Medium to anyone interested in using it for travel and the Small for daily life/gym use and if you're a light packer for traveling (unlike me). Definitely go into a store and check them out for size. For the price and size, it's most definitely worth it. Next up on my purchase is the Small!

I've owned several duffels before - Nike, Dimebags, Polo - but nothing compares to this one. I'm astounded by the quality. The material is beyond durable so I expect it to last for years to come, and I mean years. The space is amazing, perfect for everyday use and normal trips, the compartments and zippers are all well designed and you can tell a lot of thought was put into making these bags. On top of that, the design / color scheme is amazing as well. I love this bag so much, I went and bought two of the duffel canisters, and I can see myself getting a L size one of these in the future as well to have for longer trips. The only con I have with this bag - I wish they made a single, diagonal over-the-shoulder strap which is standard for most duffels, but the straps ... MoreI've owned several duffels before - Nike, Dimebags, Polo - but nothing compares to this one. Overall, I liked the stiffness of the bag, and prefer it to the lighter weight bags. This is a matter of preference. This bag does not compress as much and is heavier, but those are the trade offs for a heavier duty bag that is easier to carry. It is great for its intended use as a camping, adventure bag, but the 70L is a bit small. It also functions well as a weekend bag. That said, I probably would not try to use this as a gym bag, it may be a pain to stuff into a locker. If it had a center strap grommet I would give it 5 stars. Otherwise, it is great.THE GOOD:STRONG: This bag is stiff, heavy duty material, that appears to emphasize the "base camp" functionality. I have a larger Black hole duffel, and the North Face appears to be heavier duty on the bottom, and sides and has stiffer material.EASY TO CARRY: The heavier material makes it easier to carry. The problem with the lighter bags is that they don't have much support, so unless full, they sag more. The heavier material with this bag makes it more comfortable using the backpack straps.GOOD POCKETS: Functional pockets with 2-3 internal webbed pockets and one side compartment which is nice to separate gear.COMFORTABLE STRAPS: Comfortable backpack straps that adjust well and are sturdy.CARRY ON FUNCTIONALITY: There is a wide range of sizes. I found the 70L a little smaller than I expected, but quite easy to upgrade to the 95L if you want a slightly bigger bag. The 70L will still likely act as a carry on where you are likely to get more pushback from airlines on the 95L.THE BADHEAVY: Overall, this is nearly 1.5 lbs heavier than the similar sized Black Hole bag and does packs down to about twice the size. That said, it is still compresses to about the size of a stack of 7-8 dinner plates, which is not bad.NO CENTER SHOULDER STRAP: There is no great single shoulder strap. I'm not sure why it is so hard to add an extra grommet for a CENTER shoulder strap like an ordinary duffel, but none of the outdoor companies seem to think this is neccessary. The backpack straps are not great for carrying on a single shoulder. You either carry as a backpack, or with the side straps.BACKPACK STRAPS CUMBERSOME Backpack straps are not the easiest to remove - they don't clip off. You have to unwind the webbing through the plastic, and it takes some finesse to do so. If you check it, you need to at least take one side of the straps off to zip it properly so you need to get good at this. It can get a bit annoying to remove the straps and then reinstall them (like 4-5 minutes easily to put them on, and similarly to take them off)..

I had previously purchased a smaller version of this duffel bag to use as a carry-on for week long business trips but it wasn't big enough to fit my boots, uniforms and other clothes. After doing some research, I found that while this bag is slightly on the large size for carry-ons, it works perfectly. The pull out straps to wear this as a backpack make it easy to maneuver through airports and the material is durable. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the price is higher than I think it should be. If you can find this bag on sale or discounted, like I did here, than it makes it a better purchase.
Pretty awesome bag. Lots of storage room and a few nice pockets. One pocket on the lid of the bag is a nice size and perfect to store things like your ipad(see pic). The other interior pocket which is not zippered could hold things like gloves and a hat but not a whole lot more than that. The exterior pocket which is basically the top of the bag if you are wearing it as a backpack can hold alot more. Its 14"x12"x3" so it can hold your notebook, wallet, keys and more. I use the backpack straps as shoulder straps when I want to carry it like a duffel instead of a backpack. If you're not waring it like a back pack and don't want the backpack straps to be flopping around then the only solution is to remove them all together. Which can be a bit of a chore. I love this bag. Do not underestimate the size. I purchased this duffel to become my every day carry bag. I started boxing and needed a bag to carry my boxing sneakers, sneakers to commute, a set of gym clothes, boxing gloves, and space for potential headgear, groin protector, and my lunch bag. It fits all of this and more. I was initially not a fan of the bookbag like straps but they've made the bag much more easy to carry. I recommend most people purchase the small as this one fits everything I mentioned and has some space left over. It may not be for everyone at this size. The quality is gear. I'm hoping to wear it down so that the bag is a bit less stiff in form.
Super durable water repellent bag. Bought for my 10year old as her first camp/snow/trip bag to encourage independent packing. Fits sleeping bag and gear for a week easily. Handy compartments for shoes, toiletries and small things. Only complaint is no single over shoulder strap. Has tote handles and backpack straps. Grab handles each end. Love the colours!
I bought this duffle to go camping for the weekend with my Uncle in February, and I'm so glad I did. It's made from a water-resistant material that kept my clothes dry when they started pouring. That weekend forecast was nearly freezing, so I had to pack many layers - and with this duffle, I had plenty of room. I was debating getting a large size, but the medium was perfect. It has a ton of pockets, waterproof, and is a convertible backpack. Do yourself a favor if you are outdoorsy at all, love to camp, or just want a bag that will hold up, just buy it.
I'm a teacher at a homeschool co-op, and I purchased this fab bag to carry all my teaching materials to and from school and into and out of the classrooms to which I travel. It's super duper tough and has plenty of room for all my stuff (textbooks, notebooks, binders, pens, lunchbox, etc.). The extra zippered pocket at the one end along with the small mesh pocket inside the larger compartment are awesome features for a bit more organization! While gone one evening (after having gotten home from school and forgetting my empty salad container was still in there), my goldendoodle helped himself into the bag (he's good with zippers 😜) and spilled leftover bits of salad and dressing all over the place while attempting to eat whatever remains he was able to scrounge up. ... MoreI'm a teacher at a homeschool co-op, and I purchased this fab bag to carry all my teaching materials to and from school and into and out of the classrooms to which I travel. Good news is the bag was 100% still in tact (super tough up against a goldendoodle's giant teeth!) and it was a cinch to clean!! I just took it outside, sprayed it down inside and out with our garden hose and some cleaner, let it dry outside for a bit, and it was as good as new.I'll also add that I have a 2nd larger-sized North Face duffel that I purchased years ago, and when our tent got rained-out & water-logged following a surprise shower while camping down in FL recently, the ONLY stuff that remained 100% dry was what was in that North Face bag!!! (That's actually what prompted me to purchase the smaller version for my school stuff.) These bags are the real deal!
This Base Camp duffel is white on the inside. All other Base Camp duffel colors are the same on the inside as on the outside. Finding gear in this duffel is so much easier than my black Base Camp. The white interior is a welcome addition to the line. This should be a genuine consideration for anyone that has ever struggled to find something in their bag while inside a tent or in the trunk.Additionally, this duffel is as rugged as they come. Not a lot of features beyond ruggedness and a lot of tie-down loops. However, if your camp food opens up inside the bag, you can easily wipe the inside clean with a wet rag, or spray it out with a garden hose. The same goes for setting it in the mud. Just spray it off and you're done.
