I've owned several duffels before - Nike, Dimebags, Polo - but nothing compares to this one. I'm astounded by the quality. The material is beyond durable so I expect it to last for years to come, and I mean years. The space is amazing, perfect for everyday use and normal trips, the compartments and zippers are all well designed and you can tell a lot of thought was put into making these bags. On top of that, the design / color scheme is amazing as well. I love this bag so much, I went and bought two of the duffel canisters, and I can see myself getting a L size one of these in the future as well to have for longer trips. The only con I have with this bag - I wish they made a single, diagonal over-the-shoulder strap which is standard for most duffels, but the straps ... I bought this bag specifically to use on a week-long, off-grid trip in Montana. I needed something to help me consolidate a lot of gear for a variety of activities. The massive main compartment helped me accomplish this. I've used it on several other occasions and it has really fit the bill. I will say, this bag lacks some organization options for small pieces of gear that you may want quick access to or may want to keep separate from other things. But the organization it does have is perfectly suitable for most occasions. The color and design draws a lot of compliments and the material has been tough enough for everything I've thrown at it so far. I feel totally fine throwing it in a rain-drenched truck bed or letting it drop into the dirt. I compared a lot of bags ... For the price, the capacity, the material, and the name, it really was a stand-out product and I'm glad I got it. I have no doubt that this duffel will stand up to a lot of use for years.

I've always loved the Base Camp Duffel bag. It is by far, one of the most iconic TNF products ever released. I'm someone who loves The North Face for both functionality and style. I own many different backpacks and jackets from The North Face and I've always wanted a Base Camp Duffel bag. When I finally had a reason to pick this up, I was absolutely ecstatic. I got it at TNF's 5th Avenue store and they literally have this beautiful display of yellow TNF Base Camp Duffel Bags in the window. To me, this was like buying a LV Keepall. That's how much I love TNF.I decided to go with Black and I was so stoked to open this up back home. There was no way I was going to seriously use a Base Camp Duffel Bag with no handles as a carry-on.This is honestly one of the first TNF purchases I've ever made that I'll be returning in less than 24 hours. Very disappointed.

Pretty awesome bag. Lots of storage room and a few nice pockets. One pocket on the lid of the bag is a nice size and perfect to store things like your ipad(see pic). The other interior pocket which is not zippered could hold things like gloves and a hat but not a whole lot more than that. The exterior pocket which is basically the top of the bag if you are wearing it as a backpack can hold alot more. Its 14"x12"x3" so it can hold your notebook, wallet, keys and more. I use the backpack straps as shoulder straps when I want to carry it like a duffel instead of a backpack. If you're not waring it like a back pack and don't want the backpack straps to be flopping around then the only solution is to remove them all together. Which can be a bit of a chore. My suitcase wheel broke, so I had to unload my luggage by buying the Northface base camp duffel s while in Madrid. I was pleased with its capacity; I fit almost my whole suitcase contents into it so I could still take my suitcase around and use the Base camp as my carry on. I realized it was pretty easy to move around streets in Europe with my Base Camp, because they are often cobblestones and uneven(which can ruin a suitcase wheels). On a subsequent trip, I used the Base Camp as my main bag on a two week trip to Argentina. Using packing cubes with my Base Camp, I'm starting to think this might be the way to go for most of my travels. I keep looking for something not to like about it. Using packing cubes with my Base Camp, I'm starting to think this might be the way to go for most of my travels. I keep looking for something not to like about it. I've read about how a backpack is more comfortable; that may be true, but every time I've used my Base Camp, I have been pretty happy with how it carries. Further, it is much sturdier than most backpacks. Unlike backpacks, it loads on the side against your back, so it would be hard for anyone to access it while you were wearing it. Another plus is it carries easier than a pack if you do decide to carry it once in a while.
I purchased this product in 2018 for a heli-ski trip. Needed a waterproof duffel for transport to the lodge. This did not disappoint. It's roomy and super durable, great zippers. One side pocket. Folds up into its own storage bag to minimize space. No dividers inside, so purchase packing cubes if that's an issue for you. This most recent purchase is for my multi-day music festival staffing manager daughter who needs a bag that will withstand dust, rain, bugs.
I love this bag. Do not underestimate the size. I purchased this duffel to become my every day carry bag. I started boxing and needed a bag to carry my boxing sneakers, sneakers to commute, a set of gym clothes, boxing gloves, and space for potential headgear, groin protector, and my lunch bag. It fits all of this and more. I was initially not a fan of the bookbag like straps but they've made the bag much more easy to carry. I recommend most people purchase the small as this one fits everything I mentioned and has some space left over. It may not be for everyone at this size. The quality is gear. I'm hoping to wear it down so that the bag is a bit less stiff in form.
I have 17 of these bags in different sizes and colors. Absolutely the best bag out there. I usually use 2 smalls when I fly. One carry-on and one personal item, and that gets me anywhere I want to go without checking bags. If I do check a bigger bag, they are the easiest thing to spot on the luggage carousel. They will last forever. They look good. Easy to get stuff in and out of. I use them for everything. I only have 2 wishes. When NF makes a bag in a color, I wish they would make that color in all sizes. I like to have a set. And, I wish they would make one that is completely waterproof. These bags can sit out in the rain and still keep your stuff dry, but I still like a fully waterproof bag. Also, make the large canister just a little bit bigger, and in more ... The good: the material, straps, and zippers are solid and durable. I like the adjustability of the straps, and non-excessive compartment/pockets. I bought this hoping that it could withstand light to moderate rain in the back of a pickup truck. It does ok with water on the too- the zippers have decent coverage from flaps. But the stitching on the bottom isn't sealed. It's not as though it was in standing water, narrow troughs of a pickup bed liner had water, but not above the ridges, but everything in the bottom of the duffel got wet. I would not recommend buying this.
I'm a teacher at a homeschool co-op, and I purchased this fab bag to carry all my teaching materials to and from school and into and out of the classrooms to which I travel. It's super duper tough and has plenty of room for all my stuff (textbooks, notebooks, binders, pens, lunchbox, etc.). The extra zippered pocket at the one end along with the small mesh pocket inside the larger compartment are awesome features for a bit more organization! While gone one evening (after having gotten home from school and forgetting my empty salad container was still in there), my goldendoodle helped himself into the bag (he's good with zippers 😜) and spilled leftover bits of salad and dressing all over the place while attempting to eat whatever remains he was able to scrounge up. ... Good news is the bag was 100% still in tact (super tough up against a goldendoodle's giant teeth!) and it was a cinch to clean!! I just took it outside, sprayed it down inside and out with our garden hose and some cleaner, let it dry outside for a bit, and it was as good as new.I'll also add that I have a 2nd larger-sized North Face duffel that I purchased years ago, and when our tent got rained-out & water-logged following a surprise shower while camping down in FL recently, the ONLY stuff that remained 100% dry was what was in that North Face bag!!! (That's actually what prompted me to purchase the smaller version for my school stuff.) These bags are the real deal!
