Ticket To Ride - United Kingdom

I have not opened any of the boxes. It looks like a great game but I did not realize that this is 'not a stand alone game' as stated on the back of the box because there are no trains in this edition. You must buy the original Ticket to ride to have those. Having purchased five for five different families I felt compelled to purchase five originals ones spending more money than planned.

Awesome gameplay variations to original game.

The double-sided board offers two distinctly powerful 'new' games while keeping most of the same mechanics from the original Ticket to Ride. The PA game offers you chances to strategically corner the markets with stocks and adds a slight layer of complexity in choosing routes based upon other stocks verses perhaps the shortest route. The UK game is immensely more complex, but in that complexity, offers hours and hours of gaming fun!

Pretty Good

TtR UK and Pennsylvania is a little uneven.UK: I don't like that you have to buy technology to build 3, 4, 5, and 6 routes. I made an illegal move and didn't realize until a few turns later. This part is just so different than other TtR games.PA: Opposite of above. I like the stock bonuses. Adds a nice variety to the game.

Really ramps up the complexity

Ticket to Ride is a reasonably simple game, and each expansion has added something different and new to the gameplay. The UK expansion is no exception and I think it has the largest amount of extras to factor in to your gameplay yet. The extras add a definite layer of complexity to this simple game. They are easy to understand, but figuring out the best way to use them will take a while to master. Its a good addition to the series.

Ticket to Ride -Map Collection Vol 5: United Kingdom and Pennsylvania

Coming from a Ticket to Ride family, I've played most of the expansions and core games. United Kingdom is a fun expansion with two ways to play. On one side, players start small and aim big as they compete to expand beyond England into the whole of the United Kingdom. On the other side, money is king as players choose Pennsylvania routes not only to complete their tickets, but also to claim valuable stocks that can pay off big in points at the end of the game. Overall, the two pieces together are great additions to the Ticket to Ride collection. I personally prefer the Pennsylvania map. The stocks provide an extra incentive to complete your routes and rewards the otherwise hazardous practice of claiming longer routes. The United Kingdom map is okay, but the board restricts where you can play versus the play-anywhere style of most other versions of Ticket to Ride. It does add a sense of progression and sense of accomplishment when you can finally wave goodbye to merry-old England and expand into the rest of the UK. However, conflicts with other players are more common and it adds a bit to the frustration inherent in competing for routes. Would I play the UK map again? Absolutely! Would I pick it over the Pennsylvania map? Probably not. Still, these two maps jointly add complexity and fun to the established joy that is Ticket to Ride. Highly recommend for those who have already enjoyed Ticket to Ride and/or Ticket to Ride Europe and are looking for a highly replayable expansion.

Ticket to Ride UK Expansion Pack

The best thing about Ticket to Ride is the localisation device and so as a UK resident I hd to try this one. The Pennsylvania side is pretty simple but the UK side offers a lot of new game. With technology to buy and passports to allow travel across borders it makes the game more complicated in the best ways whilst always leaving simpler gameplay options for younger players. If you want more bite to your ticket to ride then this is the board for you.

Ticket to Ride UK Expansion Pack

This United Kingdom version of Ticket to Ride is great. The addition of technology cards adds an extra element of speculation as to what routes and motives your opponents have. I really like the added concession cards which allow you to venture to other areas of the United Kingdom and the new rules alone allows for a unique style of gameplay unlike the previous Europe, Asia and Africa maps I have also played. I have not played the Pennsylvania map pack on the other side of the board, but the UK version alone warrants purchasing this one! I’m a huge fan of the Ticket to Ride franchise and the UK version is up there with the best!

Ticket to Ride UK Expansion Pack

Absolutely essential TTR expansion. Great value for money, with two entirely different games. The UK game takes more brain power, whereas the Pennsylvania game is a bit simpler, but no less fun.The UK game has shorter routes, and it can be tempting to take more destination tickets - but you need a lot of locos and technology. You have to get the balance right.Lots of fun!

Ticket to Ride UK Expansion Pack

This is one of my favorite expansions of Ticket to ride. The Uk map in particular adds a good level of complexity forcing the players to upgrade their technology and to buy passports in order to build longer railroads in different regions. You will need the base game to play but if you love Ticket to ride and you are looking for a bigger challenge, this expansion would be very good for you.

Young and old love it. It's the perfect family game- even makes geograpy fun!

This game is EXCELLENT. It's a wonderful way to learn about the world My 5-year old niece can play it with my 80-year old mother and both enjoy it. We now own each original base game, as well as all expansions. I play several times a week with my mother and have noticed a positive shift in her cognitive processing of little things. (Esp fewer forgotten things.) It moves quickly enough that people who only like fast paced games are good with it, and isn't too complicated for those who just aren't into complicated games. My entire family has agreed that these games are hands down the single best investment I've made in the game world. My husband even commented that for the price of one game that we play hundreds of times, we'd spend the same money going to a movie ... MoreThis game is EXCELLENT. I even purchased card replacement sets and one additional copy of the 10th Anniversary edition, so we'd have back ups, because we love this so much, and would have extra cars. We have some "house rules" that make the game adaptable to different situations (more than 5 people, usually). It's just wonderful.
