A most satisfying bread knife. Good feel to hold, sharp blade, cuts clean slices of bread with minimal effort -- all at a great price. I recommend this seller.

I bake a lot of bread and the first time I sliced a freshly baked loaf with this knife I knew it was something special. Simply put the blade is so good that very little downward force is needed to cut through bread: just a little back and forth as I cut combined with the minimal weight of the blade is sufficient.I even tried - just for grins - to peel an orange with this thing and to my amazement it worked better than any paring knife! Strange but true - the flexible blade worked wonders. I wish they'd make a true paring knife with the same technology as in this bread knife!

Great knife but the handle. It's the only Tojiro made with a brown handle so lives in the stuff drawer. A Tojiro frozen food fg-3400 $16 US 170mm double edged now lives on the wall with the rest of the black vg10s. Remember serrated blades can not be sharpened with any satisfaction and make very expensive gardening tools.

We been making sourdough a lot lately and it was so frustrating with our old bread knife. This new bread knife is a game changer! It cuts so well! Even if the bread is a couple day old, it still slice through with ease. So happy we upgrade our bread knife.
Amazing value. Cuts better than any bread knife I've owned. Gentle serrations are appropriate for delicate goods like cake and pastry, but still sharp enough to handle tough crusts. The blade is thinner and flexible, but this is helpful when slicing things thinly. The handle is comfortable. Outside of vanity, I don't see why I'd need to spend more on any other bread knife. If it goes dull I'll probably buy another.
Bought this based on the usual "best" lists, and it is as advertised! Serious teeth - they feel like needle points if you touch them!Great at biting into crusty sourdough, so much so that I gifted it to my mother-in-law, who I've bonded with over bread baking. Would love to try it on other serrated knife tasks (and will whenever I go visit)! She promptly texted asking for more details as it was, "unlike any I've ever used." Then she asked me to find her a small Gyuto to replace her dead ceramic knives :D So now we bond over Japanese knives!I bought myself the F-687 as replacement and it seems only slightly longer, but with a significantly nicer handle, and has little less bite to the teeth. Suspect it will be better at cake trimming and other delicate tasks, but ... MoreBought this based on the usual "best" lists, and it is as advertised! Suspect it will be better at cake trimming and other delicate tasks, but will add a review once I've had a chance to put it through its paces. For my size L hands, the handle was a little short - anyone with very wide palms might prefer another knife. Fit and finish wasn't the same as Tojiro DP, Oboro or Basics, but that's reflected in the value price!I was in the Vancouver store during the Garage Sale and when I saw someone debating purchasing one of these and I didn't hesitate to recommend it! What a great knife for crusty artisan loaves! Don't debate. Buy it. You won't be sad. You might buy more for gifts. Thanks to Matt in Calgary for his advice on this knife :)
This is an amazing knife. I read sooo many reviews looking for something and fully expecting to pay upwards of $100.00. This was voted best knife with good reason. Works as it should; easy to cut an even slice, don’t have to push down to get through the bread. My Heinkels knife was so much work to get through the crust of a rustic sourdough, but this one made it easy.
We used to struggle with crushing the sourdough while trying to slice it. No more! The Tojiro slices through the crust like it’s butter! So sharp, so smooth! We’re very happy with this purchase.
Best bread knife I've ever used! Cuts a tomato so thin you can hardly see colour.Read up on best bread knives and I'm so glad I did.Best thing about it is that this super quality knife can be bought for under FIFTY BUCKS! Not often you feel like you really won a prize!I'm a butcher by trade and I know a good knife when I see one. Maybe it's longevity won't be what you get for $200 but I'm betting it won't be dramatically different.
Originally purchased because of a positive review from a reputable food blog, I was a little disappointed in the quality of the handle upon receiving it. But a serrated knife is meant to be replaced, so I think it will serve its purpose well. I paid around $30 but I think it should be priced closer to $20 personally.
