I was delighted when I received a package containing a bottle of Noir Extreme to review. The bottle is geometrically simple and beautiful. Rectangular, black with a gold cap. When held up to light, the inky blackness gives way to a lighter amber-like color; somewhere between a rich brown and a vintage army green, and complimenting the gold of the cap. Hints of my grandmother’s potpourri, and ethereal wisps of vintage, imported perfumes. A soft creaminess underlies a heavier woodiness. There is a smokiness; not that of a fireplace or cigarette, but more of a fine incense. This is the first Tom Ford fragrance in my collection, but it will not be the last. After my amazing experience with this, I absolutely need to try Tobacco Vanille and Oud Wood. They also just released a parfum version of this that I would love to sample as well.

This one ups the ante with the citrus notes of madarin oranges, cardamom, Indian Kulfi, floral notes of Rose, Jasmine, sandalwood for a creamy background, amber, and vanilla for a sweetness and ginger for spice with suede leather. This reminds me of spicebomb extreme with more refined smell less harsh. It reminds me of a gentleman at a cigar lounge or jazz club with a cigar in hand so you get smoke, but wearing a expensive leather jacket from YSL drinking an old fashioned with orange peel on the rim of the glass. This will definitely be a compliment getter for sure and one I can see being a good gift for a husband or serious boyfriend. The price is $230 so it's not cheap but in line with other fragrances of this concentration and quality. I give it a 8.5 out of 10. It was in a royal looking all gold box with black lettering. When you open the box you will find again a very classy looking black bottle with that gold cap and lettering. I found Noir Extreme to have a sweet and spicy opening. Really powerful cardamom with some vanilla, nutty and kinda milky accord. Might resemble what a Middle Eastern Vanilla Almond Milk would be like. After around 15 minutes the dry down left me with a really smooth, gourmand, vanilla almond milk scent with light spice. You can wear it all day but it's probably more suited for the night especially a date night with the silage being the 1-2 ft range and it being a nice sweet and spicy gourmand your date will very much enjoy being next to you! While this won't be in my top personal choices for the fall it most definitely is a great option and I will definitely be wearing this more.

I think that pairing citrus with vetiver works and, although it's not an original combination, it's very well done here. I think that for versatility I would recommend this over the Eau de Parfum, however for value for money (in terms of lasting power etc), then the original lasts longer. I would suggest wearing this version year round as it's very versatile. For very formal wear and colder/winter weather the Eau de Parfum. I tend to like citrus very much and I love the way it's done here (it even almost reminds me of a cross between the original Grey Vetiver and Terre d'Hermès). The original is both more woody and more spicy, however this has it's own charm. I would suggest it for any age range and all seasons. I fell in love with the middle stage of GV EdT development for its perfect balance between cold and warm, between ethereal and earthy... so the poor performance is really bugging me because I'd love to be able to smell it on my skin for hours - I did not regret my purchase however. I do enjoy its company for as long as it lasts.

Also if the note break down of Indian spices with a bit of a creamy background doesn’t sound appeals this may not be for you regardless of quality and I always recommend trying before you buy at this price point. My daily routine includes more of a light/fresh type of scent, but I will definitely wear this for dinners and go out in the evening. The packaging is pretty stunning too, the bottle is made of a very rich deep cocoa colored glass that is dense and heavy, and it’s trimmed in metallic gold. Tom Ford is known for his undeniable level of taste and Noir Extreme is no exception. 5 out of 5, def recommend!

The pacaging is beautiful and sleek. Love the black and gold. I used this as well as my husband and grandson. When first sprayed I could smell a light powder scent as well as a spicy Woody scent. It smelled different on all three of us but the guys won! It smelled awesome on them. This is an awesome fall fragrance! I would recommend this fragrance by Tom Ford for sure! Now to find my Tom Ford fragrance!
