TP-Link Deco M5 Whole-Home Mesh Wi-Fi Router System - 2-Pack

i was using orbi 6 modem given by 2 degrees in 90m2 town floor with 2 floors and this router was in ground floor one end. i wasn't getting much coverage in my bedroom upstairs in the other corner of room. i use one mobile and a PC from that room. after buying this i set up one as replacement for router and another upstairs bedroom , and getting good spoeed and coverage and no latency. i was using 2 degrees 300/100 Mbps plan but i changed to 50/10 which is cheaper fiber plan but tp link deco is still great working without any latency and coverage issues. my home uses an oled tv and always use for streaming and a wifi sound bar, wifi bulbs , echo dots a pair , a computer, 2 mobiles and a tablet.. i feel i should have bought tp link atleast couple years before

My internet provider actually recommended this 3-pack over their supplied one. Installation was easy, although a little drawn out and the main sticking point for me was trying to find where to select UFF (it's in the second drop-down selection list). Once the first one was up and running the others were a breeze.Pros - small form factor, nice looking and the power supply cord is long enough that the device can be tucked out of sight. The app is loaded with useful utilities including a guest option and a software WPS button.Cons - everything is done through the app, there's no physical WPS button.

Our older wifi system with 2 x extenders was neither fast or reliable. Did a bit of research into what would work for our 4 multi-level house. This system had good reviews and PB Tech had the most competitive price. Easy to order and arrived in a couple of days. I downloaded the Deco ap and it was super easy to instal. It took me around 10 minutes to get the system set up in all 3 areas. I did plug the main base into our router and that all seemed to work well. We have great coverage in all areas of the house now. It also seems way faster. There are often 3 of us working from home and have not noticed any drop off in speed and we have not had any devices drop off or have to reboot...such a joy! We have been using the TP-Link Deco M5 (version 3) for over a month now, for a family of active wifi users. Our house is L-shaped and about 200 sqm, so lots of wifi dead-zones. Our previous set up used the ISP router and PoE to get wifi around the house - this just worked, but we had drop-outs and slow wifi (10-20Mb on a 50Mb service).The TP-Link Deco M5 changed all this. The coverage is brilliant, even extending outside the house and into the back yard and workshop down the back (we are on a 700sqm house block). Speed tests consistently return 45Mb, from anywhere in the house, so we are very happy with performance. You download an app to your mobile, follow the prompts and it does the rest. Set-up was truly a breeze.Managing the network is also very easy, using the app - it's "idiot proof". The app also has a number of nice features such as letting you know when new devices attach to your network, fixed-IP where required, and provides a monthly report on usage. You are also able to setup QoS for each device if required - we tried this, but ended up not using this feature.Overall, a great result for us, and money well spent.

Big expectation, big disappointing

I bought this product last week, Firstly my comments are dependent on my expectations. First of all as I have 1Gb speed, my expectation was moving this speed to the first floor using a Wi-Fi repeater according to its limit. I compared this product with other repeaters and started watching the price. I saw that it looks much better than the M4R model and the WiFi speed is faster(400Mb) at 2.4GHz. And it is stated that it gives around 800mb at 5GHz.So far so good, I set the first deco M5 successfully, the device boxed very well and the interface for setup was clear and easy. Also it has a nice design and you could mount it to the wall. Quickly I tested the setup for its raw speed, as this one has this future in the application. So I saw that it was around 1GB. Home wifi Mesh System - if you do not mind speed drop

After reading all rave reviews about the home mesh system, I bought a 2-units. My apt is 2x 1bed combined. A 40' log hallway connecting the study at south end where cable service coming in and the kitchen at north end; only one solid wall (study) in between. I had had Spectrum internet/TV for years with Spectrum router and my 10-year old Netgear extender, never ever had wifi speed issue when service was on. Recently I decided to try my own home mesh system, so returned Spectrum router, big mistake. TP-Link was easy to set up - one unit as router in the study and the other as extender in the kitchen. Chat with TP-Link, I was told it is normal the speed drop to 40% after router. Followed the instruction from TP-Link, disconnect/reconnect, repeated reset for a couple of hours, the internet speed in the kitchen still below 20. I was told to move the extender to about 20' away from the router (with one solid wall in between), or buy 3rd unit. I was in such disbelief as the product description states coverage up to 3800 sf. My apt is little over 1000 sf. After 2 days without useable internet in the kitchen, I relocated the router out of study, to the south end of hallway with the extender at the same location in the kitchen (with no wall in between). The internet speed in the study (through one solid wall) via wifi signal from the router has speed 200-270, the speed the extender wifi is 50-100. I hope everyone reads my story will learn from my mistake. Only use wifi as last resort, when absolutely no way to run ethernet cable. No sales will tell you the truth about the speed drop. All TP-Link tech support would not admit the fact their products do not live up to their claim. I found similar stories to mine afterwards. It is a sad fact.

This system has exceeded my expectations. I recently switched ISPs and noticed immediately that the modem/router combo my new ISP provided wasn't great. I was getting close to the 100mbps I pay for while in the same room as my router, but upstairs on the opposite end of my 1400sq/ft home, I was getting less than half that and even experienced drops.I decided to purchase this 3-pack after a bit of research and I'm glad I did. I'm now getting consistent, reliable internet across my entire home. I'm getting more than what I pay for now; my download speeds are now 115-199mbps on wireless - anywhere in my home. It even fixed some connectivity issues I was having with my gaming PC (has a TP-link PCI-e wireless card in it, which seems to play nicer with this ... MoreThis system has exceeded my expectations. There were no issues connecting any of our devices. It's now crystal clear what each device is in the app, because I took the time to label each of them as I connected them.The optimization feature in the app works great as well. We have a lot of neighbours nearby, and one tap sets you up on the least congested Wi-Fi bands.Overall I think this is a great product for most families. If you need to do super advanced networking, it may not be for you. But if you're looking for no-BS, hassle-free, reliable Wi-Fi... look no further.

Really not a Google product

I just bought and return a 3p deco M5 from the source. And the reason I want to shout out here in bestbuy is to reminder every one who’s interested in the product that please do review my input before you proceed a purchase:1. Very bad signaling coverage. I have been using its RE550 extender for a while . That’s a perfect product. But tiny this M5. I actually quite happy with the RE550 but I want added fiction like parental control . And that feature is like a junk. There are two options related to parental control: you can choose age if the kids, and then a default profile for that age will show up. For example, when kids under 18, all called adult content is filtered I am assuming but actually not. Works well. Needs a modem.

They work nicely and are reasonably easy to set up, though you still have to give them a separate network name to the modem network and then rename it! To avoid confusion, you can hide your modem network name. They are small and ok-looking. They don’t have their own power button if you want to switch off parts of the network. Pretty happy with them - good speeds, though the 5GHz band doesn’t have as good a range (by its nature). They boot up fast. If your NBN sucks anyway, these will be adequate.
