My current home network setup consists of four TP Link Deco AX1800 units, and I couldn't be happier with the quality of the product. Using four of these units, I am able to control the 50 I.O.T devices including lights, electrical switches, and home security components. In addition to my I.O.T. devices, I have about 30 more devices on my network including computers, printers, multimedia devices, and voice controlled smart home assistants, including Google Home devices and numerous Alexa devices. Each and every device on my network is working flawlessly with this Deco Mesh network, and I consistently get 600 - 800 Mbps speeds, which is quite impressive considering this is a wireless network. I have a gigabit (1000 Mbps) internet connection, and getting real-world speeds of up to 800 Mbps is very impressive. My mobile devices seamlessly switch between the four access points with no loss of signal or connection. Four of these AX1800 units easily provide coverage across nearly 5,000 sq feet of living space. I am absolutely amazed by the signal quality and speed of the Deco units, which are performing better than some of the $1000 enterprise systems that I have used in the past. Mesh technology has advanced at a breakneck pace, making traditional, non-mesh WiFi routers a thing of the past. The initial setup of this system is so easy that anyone who can use a smartphone SHOULD be able to get this system up and running in a matter of minutes. The user interface is simple, but adequate for any home network. The only addition I made to my Deco mesh network was to add an enterprise-grade hardware firewall to ensure that the security of my network can not be compromised. The built in security features are very nice, but somewhat limited if you want ironclad network security. Having spent only $300 for four of these units, there is no better value on the market (that I'm familiar with). Aside from adding a hardware firewall to my Deco mesh network, the system is basically plug-and-play. Any half-way intelligent person should be able to easily set up this mesh network with minimal effort.I HIGHLY recommend this system to anyone who needs reliable seamless wireless coverage across their home or business. TP Link's Deco AX1800 has redefined value and quality!

I had a 5-year old Securifi mesh network, but it had become less dependable of late, and with the company all but defunct, I decided to update to a more well known brand that's apt to still be around in 6 years. So, I did my research, and bang-for-the-buck, the TP-Link W3600 came out on top in this price range for the features, especially adding WiFi 6. Keep in mind, WiFi 6 isn't going to make your internet any faster than what you're paying for with your ISP - if your paying for 200mbps, you're still going to only get 200mbps. Also, a network card on an electronic device, be it a laptop, computer, gaming console, or cell phone. has to be WIFI 6 capable, otherwise it's going to be limited to its compatibilities. But, if you have WIFI 6 compatible network cards and/or if you pay for gig speeds with your ISP and your current WIFI router can't handle them, then this is a great and affordable place to start. Coming from the Securifi routers, I guess I got spoiled, because they were very granular. I could turn things on and off, make my 2.4 and 5GHz networks run independently, create MAC filtering, assign individual items a static IP on one or the other of the bands, modify my DHCP table to specific ranges for specific devices, setup port tunneling, setup DMZ's, parental controls and tine limits, and on and on. But even though you can't do ALL of that with the TP-Link W3600, you can still do a lot through the Android or IOS app. The painful one for me is not being able to segregate my bandwidths, which can make it quite painful if you have smart devices - all of which run over 2.4GHz - because the band steering algorithm can be fairly slow. For instance, I have a Wyze outdoor camera, but it took the router algorithm and the camera literal hours to agree that it wants to use the 2.4GHz network, even with the 5GHz network disabled completely (though I think this is just as much an issue with the camera firmware coding as it is the routers). Nevertheless, patience persevered, and all is good. On the plus side, the router does have some security features I appreciate, like the IPS (Intrusion Prevention Service) functionality, and some kind of hybrid anti-virus component, though I can't verify the true functionality and voracity of either. But if they ARE working like a paid prescription otherwise would, then there's a lot to be said for the functionality for the price. And if you're a parent, these can be good features for the less-security conscious youth. Added to the parental controls, it's a good suite of features for a family household. Even at WIFI 6 and AX speeds, though, I still can't detect much improvement over my previous AC speeds, and there are times when I wonder if it's actually slower. But then I open the Deco app and open the 'Network Optimization' tool, and it seems to fix things. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be some kind of learning AI feature or it checks itself against some other criteria to determine it needs to "Fix" something, but still, it helps, even if just a little. I can stream without issue, and no longer get the buffering pause when loading Netflix for the first time that day, so the logo opens up without stuttering, which is oddly satisfying after years of that logo pausing and the sound cutting out right in the middle of the animation. But other than that, streaming is the same, which is to say, great. As to gaming, I can't offer you any knowledge, because I'm an old techie who hasn't been much into gaming since DOOM! was first released almost 30-some years ago. The range is MUCH improved over my previous mesh network, which delights me since I don't need to have a string of extenders to get signal out to my shop anymore. But the node-switching feature seems... lacking? For instance, if I go out to the shop then to the back where the signal from the primary node is weakest, it doesn't automatically kick me over to the closest node, and unless I turn WIFI off then back on again, it will still try to deliver me signal from the primary, furthest node with the weakest strength. Not a deal breaker, but I hope it's something TP-Link is looking at fixing. Once I turn WIFI off then back on it picks the closest node and strongest signal, and I can make it all over my property with signal from there. It's just an inconvenient pain, and a first-world problem, for sure. I recognize I should be embarrassed for my "Entitled" whining, and I am. :) Anyway, a strong product for the price, in my opinion. Others, of course, will balk because of this or that and demand you must pay more for something much better or you'll be branded a failure for life. For me, it works fine. Great, even. But I'm a simple man, and I've never been one who is constantly looking for some life-altering moment or epiphany. If it works, it works. Is there better? I'm sure there is. Worse, too. But it more than fits my needs, and as such, I recommend it.

We just installed this TP Link Deco Router Replacement System and we can already see a dramatic difference in “dead” spots around our house. The main area we noticed a vast improvement was to our backyard, garage, and driveway areas. Or current modem is set up towards the front of the house, and while most of our rooms get a decent connection, our back bedroom, backyard, garage, and driveway areas do not. As far as installation, the setup couldn’t have been easier. The Deco app basically tells you exactly what to do in a very simplified way. It is not difficult at all and I didn’t encounter any technical issues whatsoever. As far as installation, the setup couldn’t have been easier. The Deco app basically tells you exactly what to do in a very simplified way. It is not difficult at all and I didn’t encounter any technical issues whatsoever. After connecting the first Deco to the modem, I plugged in the second Deco in a room at the back of our house and near our back bedroom. I didn’t have to connect that Deco at all – I simply plugged it in and it automatically connected to the other previously installed Deco. Once I saw the light turn green on the Deco, I tested the WiFi on my iPhone by stepping outside and I went to the very back of our backyard by the fence. I had full WiFi connection, which was unheard of before. I then stepped inside the garage to see about that since there were more walls and other interference there. I also had a full WiFi connection in that area, which we never had previously. It not only provides better WiFi, but also has many other features as an added bonus such as parental controls, Antivirus, QoS, WPS option, Internet speed testing, monthly report, and more.Overall, this Deco System has completely changed our connection strength and we will now be able to enjoy being outside and still be able to use WiFi. We spend a lot of time outdoors swimming, mowing the lawn, watching kids ride their bikes, etc so it’s really a big deal. It will enable us to listen to our Bluetooth speaker while swimming, wear headphones while mowing, and access the internet while relaxing. Absolutely beneficial for our family and I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to improve their WiFi!

It's very versatile you can use both devices as router and AP or 2 x APs connected to main router via ethernet and transmitting/receiving on the same 802.11ax mesh network with a single network (SSID) name. The same way as cellular towers connected together. They utilize entire bandwidth slicing it to serve wifi devices and provide backhaul network if satellite is connected wirelessly. Multi-antenna beamforming is used to direct signal to wifi devices efficiently. This technology came from military's phase array radars that no longer spin antenna but spin beams electronically to cover all 360 degrees. Except that wifi transmitter tracks device location and constantly changes beam angle and polarization to ensure the highest signal to noise ratio. Device is managed from phone app or via web browser. Cloud feature allows you to manage this devices from anywhere in the world. Parental controls lets you set bed time (time off) and cumulative time per day (e.g. no more than 2 hours between 7am and 9pm - time period outside of bed time) for kid's devices. You can turn off led scheduling night mode time. There are a lot of other features from VLAN to static routing. You can also turn off routing functionality make the device to be WIFI access point only if your existing WIFI 6 (802.11ax) router has more features and you want to use these units as WIFI extenders. 1800mbps is more than enough provided you will use single 1gbps ethernet cable to connect them to your router or cable modem.
Just like most homes, mine had a few areas where the 2.4 GHz wifi bandwidth had trouble reaching. I was curious to see if the TP-Link AX1800 mesh network would resolve this problem. The setup I choose was a 2-station package with 1 station connected to the router and the other station placed in the troubled area. It is worth noting that my internet is fiber optic with up to 1 Gbps up and 1 Gbps down. Due to the speed, I do not have a modem and my router is one I purchased and not the one that the ISP typically leases to you. Setup is very simple. There is an app you download that walks you through every step. Total time for install was around 15 - 20 minutes. My speed test prior to setup of the mesh network in the trouble area was around 24 Mbps down which is very frustrating when you are paying for up to 1 Gbps. As you’ll see in one photo I took after the installation of the mesh network, the speed is now mind blowing. It is also worth noting that my home has a smart panel with all of the internet equipment. This smart panel is made of metal and really impacts the internet speed. However, after the mesh network was setup and running, I did not notice any drop in speed due to the metal smart panel box. If you have areas in your home that have weak wifi signals, especially on 2.4 GHz bandwidth, you will be very happy once you have the TP-Link AX1800 mesh network system up and running. Money well spent.
On the package it says it replaces and upgrades any router, but it does not have any way to connect wired connections. I had to chat with online help because of the extremely limited instructions and found out that I needed to keep my router, but just turn it into an access point. Easy enough to do, I just turned off the Wi-Fi on the router and kept the Mesh system for my wireless. That was the only drawback I found. Prior to setting it up, I went around the house and took readings of my current Wi-Fi signal strength and download speeds. One of my issues that I was looking forward to resolving is the changing of Wi-Fi connections as I previously had a repeater to boost my signal from the back of the house to the front of the house. One of my issues that I was looking forward to resolving is the changing of Wi-Fi connections as I previously had a repeater to boost my signal from the back of the house to the front of the house. But the Mesh resolved all of that, once again I had strong signal strength and download speeds no matter where I was in or around my house, and no changing network connections to do so, now it is seamless wherever I go. I have one in the back of my house and one in the front of my house providing total coverage. It comes with a lot of other great features like parental control, antivirus, and quality of service (QoS) to enhance the safety and security of your network. I connected all my tablets, phones, laptop computers, TV’s and ring cameras to it, and there was no degradation of signal strength or speed.
The overall performance we get using two of these TP-Link Deco’s in our home is modestly better than our previous setup, which was using our ISP’s gateway (router/modem) with a TP-Link Powerline extender. I say “modestly” better because the Deco units provide much better WiFi coverage (no dead spots), which provides a better overall experience; however, the speed isn’t actually faster. When I run a speed test between the server and ISP’s provided gateway (modem/router) in the Xfinity app, it shows we’re getting 477 Mbps (download) and 11.9 Mbps (upload).... We pay for 400 Mbps (download) and 10 Mbps (upload) so that’s nice. When I run a speed test in the Deco app, the speed between the server and main Deco unit is only 457-467 Mbps and 12 Mbps. We pay for 400 Mbps (download) and 10 Mbps (upload) so that’s nice. When I run a speed test in the Deco app, the speed between the server and main Deco unit is only 457-467 Mbps and 12 Mbps. Furthermore, because our second Deco is not connected via an ethernet cable to the first and is placed on the second floor, speeds are slower on the second floor; however, because of the better signal coverage the Deco provides, the experience is better/smoother than using the TP-Link Powerline Extender. Is setup as easy as unpacking, downloading the app, and following the onscreen instructions? Perhaps if you’re starting from scratch, but our home has a more elaborate setup (multiple networks, wired and wireless printers, Smart TVs connected via Ethernet cables, security devices, extenders, switches, other IOT devices - appliances, thermostats, lights, smart outlets, etc.) and each Deco only has 2 1-Gigabit Ethernet ports. Because our ISPs gateway has 4 ports and we were using all of them all, I had to invest in a TP-Link Ethernet switch to accommodate hard wired devices and other TP-link switches we have wired throughout the house. For me setup was not 15 minutes, but was more like a multiple day migration intended to avoid disrupting zoom meetings and remote learning. On day one I set up a new network to test it out before migrating everything and everyone over. Setting up the new network was relatively painless using the app. Both included Deco units are identical so either one can be connected to whatever modem/router is provided by your ISP. I got a bit stuck when the app said to contact my ISP in order to select connection type (dynamic vs static) and IPTV/VLAN settings... huh? I’m not super tech savvy and the last thing anyone wants to do is contact their ISP. Luckily I figured it out. After setting up the first Deco, the app alerted me to a firmware update, which installed quickly. Adding the second Deco was a breeze (nothing to do but plug it in) and I did that with the two Decos a few feet apart. Then I moved one of them to the second floor. No issues although the app shows me that the second floor Deco only has two bars of wifi in its connection to the 1st floor Main Deco. While TP-Link claims these two units are good for 4,000 sq ft, most homes have doors, floors, walls, and windows that reduce coverage. Having said that, we do get better reception than we did previously in the basement and attic.Regarding the Deco app, I’m still getting used to the features and how to set up parental controls and time limits for kid devices, as well as using their anti virus options and adding a guest network. The app isn’t overly intuitive but it sure beats having to log into the ISP gateway’s clunky interface. Having said that, the app is missing the ability to run a WiFi speed test between the Deco and a connected device. My ISPs app provides that. As a result I can’t do an apples to apples comparison on that front. Of less importance in the app is the ability to turn off the Deco’s LEDs or set it so the LEDs turn off between certain times (Night time). The setting applies to all Deco units, so you can’t just turn off the LED of the Deco say in the bedroom, while leaving on the LED of the Deco in the family room. Perhaps TP-Link will eventually make it possible to turn on and off the LEDs of each unit independently.Aside from the limited number of Ethernet ports, the Decos’ angled wall wart power supplies are annoying. In my opinion, TP-Link got the angle wrong. Actually, they got it right for plugging it into a wall outlet; however, most folks will need to plug into a power strip. Between the ISP modem/router (wall wart), a Deco (wall wart), the powered switch you’ll need for more Ethernet ports (wall wart), security devices (wall wart), nearby lamps, stereos, etc.... there’s little chance you won’t be using a power strip. TP-Link really should make these warts with rotating plugs or get rid of them altogether.Included in this “Next-Gen Whole Home Wi-Fi System” are two Deco W3600 units, an ethernet cable (3’ 10”), 2 large and unsightly sideways-mounted-wall-wart power adapters, and limited written instructions in 37 languages (instructions basically tell you to refer to the app for setup). These Decos provide Ax/WiFi 6 (802.11ax) and up to 1201 Mbps on a 5GHz network and 574 Mbps on a 2.4GHz network. The next model up provides 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz networks , but the same 574 Mbps on a 2.4 GHz network.Overall we’re pleased with this pack and may get one more Deco unit for the basement or attic.
This router works really well. I wanted to replace the router I had with a mesh system because I wasn't getting great signal down in my basement. This router system solves that issue. In the box, you'll have 2 identical routers and power supplies, a very brief instruction manual (it seems longer, but it's one page with a million languages), and a network cable to connect to your modem. What is great is that the routers can both function as the main router or the secondary router (or, if you have a larger house and need 3, they sell an option for that as well).Setup of the network was a breeze. Simply download the app, start it up, and follow the instructions on the screen.Everything seems to work flawlessly, with the one exception that for whatever reason, the ... MoreThis router works really well. Probably a weird software issue. Since the network speed and quality all seem great, and the issue can be resolved likely via software, I'm keeping this a 5 star rating. Now, if my Spectrum internet would stop dropping all the time, that'd be fantastic :)PROS:- SUPER easy setup- Great range. Able to get full bars throughout my house; even in the basement now.- Both router units can serve as the main router; makes things super simple. In the event you do need more range, adding another one is as simple as turning it on; it automatically will connect.- Wi-Fi 6 is the newest technology that more than likely will provide your home with better wi-fi speeds than your internet bandwidth. It is pretty much future proof while internet providers catch up to provide matching speeds.CONS:- For whatever reason, the Deco app started to not list any of the devices that are connected to the network (showing them all as offline). Rebooting the router resolved the issue, though.
Installed Deco W3600 a week back to support my Xfinity 600mpbs speed. Coupled this with Motorolla 3.0 modem (1GPS). I needed Ethernet/LAN connection in two floor of my house have; one in study room and another in living. With this mesh router, i could have multiple Ethernet connection in different floor wireless-ly connected. This Deco has two LAN port , so one can have additional equipment connected physically or even extend LAN port with additional switch (if required).W3600 also has same chipset as that of AX1500 or AX1800 , here your are getting two devices (with same chipset in each device) and i think , cost and performance/coverage W3600 wins over AX1800/AX1500 and you dont need to hardwired ethernet cable.a week since i installed this router and running ... MoreInstalled Deco W3600 a week back to support my Xfinity 600mpbs speed. Installation is simple, just follow fews steps provided in box and you are good to go. Once router is up and running ,i even tried to power on/off modem/router to see how long will i take to come wifi/internet back and it just take couple of minutes (basically router and modem boot up time)Wifi is managed with Deco app and one will need to create tplink account to login. Wifi /internet and connected devices management seems way simpler from the app.
