This is a great Wifi6 Mesh network. I chose this for my wife moving to a working from home environment and my eldest son needing a better connection for gaming. It also allows for time limits so you can define how much time your family is spending online. Last but not least, you can set priorities for devices and applications for faster performance, (like games, streaming, chatting etc) All of this at the touch of your fingers and providing far more information and control than you had with a regular modem/router in your home. For me, this is really a plus.If that isn't enough, the system is also compatible with Alexa! Now you can use voice control to manage the Wifi!They state that you can also connect more Wifi Decos if you needed to extend your coverage beyond 5000 feet.Add to this the fact that they're simply attractive and blend in with any decor.It's a highly economical solution to what could be much more expensive and in my opinion, it's a lot of value for a very affordable price.

Easy Setup

So, my point of reference is Google's mesh network. Terrible speeds, the absolute worst support bar none, and their solution to everything is to factory reset the network - enormous pain.Plug and play with the Deco - and that's also compared to Google, which boasts ease of use. You setup the main router, don't have to scan anything, just gets discovered, and same with the points/pucks/repeaters/whatever you want to call them.Easy peazy. And the speed is nearly 10 times Google mesh (I pay for 600, get nearly 700 hardline, saw 40-50 with Google, getting nearly 500 consistently with Deco and I've clocked 690 probably with only a few devices connected).I did have to contact support for a port forwarding issue, but legitimately talked to a human and they solved it in ... MoreSo, my point of reference is Google's mesh network. When port forwarding, it will assign a static IP, which overwrites any IP you've assigned.Small gripe and I made the changes - that's what support walked me through.Orbi stops supporting their hardware near immediately and you have to pay for support, Google customer support is an actual oxymoron, and after learning the hard way way Ring & Blink are bad news I opted against Eeros.Good to go for now.

Ez setup, great performance, seems good quality.The ease of setup here can’t be overstated. I’ve literally setup dozens over many years and this is by far my best experience. No laptop/computer console, no default password, no confusing menu, no ssid reconfiguration and no repeat resets to get it right. I believe even the tech challenged will be happy and successful. I chose this one, in part, due to Ethernet Backbone. This means you can connect the other mesh devices by wire or wireless. This is handy as we have a detached studio next to our house. There are probably some advanced menus but I have no need.Performance is great, but I also am coming from a 5yr old and failing tp-link router Archer C3000. That had WiFi 5 AC. I was happy and don’t regret that purchase. This has WiFi 6 AX. Performance on download doubled and jitter decreased by about 14%. I have a 1gbps Comcast line and was getting average of 200-400 down, 20-25 up, 20ms latency, 2.5ms jitter. The download doubled to 600-700, the jitter had a noticeable improvement to 2.1ms. Latency and upload seemed about the same next to the unit but I think they were much better further away. I ran several tests. It’s not placed optimally due to a shorter power cord but still performs well across my house. WiFi coverage is greatly improved with just one unit in the house and one in the studio. The back bedroom where WiFi used to only barely work is now responsive and getting 137mbps down/ 15 up/ 25ms latency.Hardware and packaging is good. The package was moderately wasteful but protective and easy to open. The unit seems sturdy and appropriately weighty. Connections seem good. The status lights aren’t busy with just one glowing downward facing. It comes with a power cord 1/2 the size of my last one. About 6ft so you may need a extension cord. 12 hours after setup it’s warm but not hot. I don’t know if I’d call it a manual that was included in the box. It isn’t good for much other than status lights. But you don’t really need it either.I paid $151 yesterday fir the 2 unit kit. I’m impressed by the quality, features and price. I really didn’t expect this to work this well for the money. I was willing to spend twice that.Overall it seems to be good quality and great performance. The real treat here, though, is the incredibly painless setup.

I purchased a more-expensive competitor router that boasted six antennas and WiFi 6 (with MIMO Mesh functionality) and it performed WORSE than the router it replaced. This capability, with its high speed and low latency, promises not only ultra fast download speeds but also glitch free Ultra HD streaming and lag free gaming, provided that your Internet connection can support such quality as well. Bells and whistles such as OFDMA (simultaneous transmission to different devices within the same transmission window) and MU-MIMO (ability to communicate with multiple devices using a separate stream for each) are of course there with Wi-Fi 6.So far I have no complains regarding the X60‚Äôs performance. The Wi-Fi is very quick and outperforms my internet connection. I haven‚Äôt noticed any issues with latency either. One remark I want to make here is that, even though older WiFi cards will still be able to connect and operate with the X60, you will need a Wi-Fi 6 compatible wireless card to make the most out of the Deco mesh system. Making the most out of it doesn‚Äôt mean that you will experience speeds close to 3 Gbps. These speeds are a theoretical maximum, they are achieved in the lab and they are impossible to see in the average home network setup. You will see, though, very high speeds depending on the quality of your wireless adapter (in my tests, I used the TP-Link WiFi 6 AX3000 PCIe WiFi Card), the distance from the router and the obstacles that separate you from it. Bottom line: it‚Äôll be fast, but be realistic with your expectations.Regarding the amount of supported devices, the Deco X60 can serve up to 150 connected devices at the same time. Even though I don‚Äôt have 150 devices at my disposal, I can confirm that the X60 does‚Äôt sweat at all with my 35 connected devices.Through the smartphone app, you can monitor the network usage of these devices real time. Moreover, in an effort for some easy Quality of Service, you can prioritize any of these devices in terms of network resources with the toggle of a switch. This feature is a wink to power users who would like to prioritize bandwidth/latency sensitive applications.On the back of the X60 you will find two Gigabit Ethernet ports and, of course, the power connector.The Deco X60 is mostly operated via the smartphone Deco app. All the monitoring and configuration that you need or may do happens through your smartphone. You do get access to it through your computer‚Äôs browser, but it‚Äôs mostly for viewing rather than managing. Since this is purely related to software, I do hope that TP-Link will reconsider and give us a future firmware update with full browser GUI functionality.TP-Link has equipped the Deco X60 with what the company calls Homecare. That is a bundle of security and performance management features that serve to improve the user experience under the hood. It consists of a set of antivirus filters (Malicious Content, Intrusion Prevention and Infected Device Quarantine) using Trend Micro‚Äôs threats database, Parental Control and Quality of Service (QoS). Though the first two are self explanatory, the latter surprised me by the functionalities it brings. You can set the X 60 to prioritize a type of traffic profile over others. For example, if your home users make heavy use of streaming services, you can set the X60 to prioritize Streaming. I've had my eye on a Deco wifi mesh system for a while and finally decided to go for it recently. It was incredibly easy to set up - so much so that when I was finished, I was almost disappointed. "That's it? I don't have to curse & throw things? Wow. OK!" There are so many things I love about this Deco, one of which is that I can look at the app on my phone and see at a glance exactly what devices are connected to the internet at any given moment. Great for keeping tabs on the kid who is actually streaming a movie on his phone when he was supposed to be in bed over an hour ago. I also love that there are Parental Controls I can set up to put an end to those late night shenanigans (which I'll probably have to do soon). They say we should be getting 20 Mbps but usually when I do a speed test, we're getting about 12. It's seriously horrible. But since I hooked up the Deco, the speed is so much better. I've run speed tests several times since I installed the Deco and haven't had anything less than 20 - we're averaging about 24 Mbps, which is a major improvement, believe me. With this system, I now have strong Wi-Fi everywhere I need it because I can simply extend the mesh to where I need coverage with the remaining two units.Set up was actually far easier than the TP-link traditional Wi-Fi router this unit replaced. The app was fantastic, and was able to easily set up and name the new Wi-Fi network, and choose a new password. I used the same password as the old system so all my family had to do was select the new uniquely named Wi-Fi network and use the same password. Set up was more painless than I anticipated.Each unit also has its own ethernet ports so you can direct connect devices if desired.None of our phones, tablets, laptops, or smart TV's use the latest Wi-Fi protocols but backward compatibility was not a problem. This system is a bit pricey depending on the number of units you need, so I wouldn't make the plunge if your existing Wi-Fi coverage is adequate. But if you need more effective coverage, this system is really amazing, and offered from a brand I have long used and trusted. Hope this helps!

The other location runs four in router mode (one router, 3 slaves), again with an Ethernet backhaul. Same good speed, but configuration options are minimal. You can't even select the channel these run on. Another downside in this mode is that you can exclude devices by MAC address using a blacklist, but the system doesn't support a whitelist to allow only certain MAC addresses. For the router setup, it is going into a back woods location where there is no cellular signal, and there is no wifi internet until this device is installed and operating. If I waited to set this up on location, I wouldn't be able to! Solution is to set it up somewhere else where phone has internet, and then move it to the woods - and hope I don't ever have to do a factory reset there.All that said, the system works well, is easy to install (phone app / internet connectivity aside), and works quite well.
