TP Link RE450 Received in good condition. Set up is smooth without any complication. After placing it in master room about 10 meters away from router the led is not steady blue indicates distance is too far. Repositioned it in the daughter’s room about 6 meters away then led is steady blue. \nTest the wifi strength by placing 2 iPhones at the furthest part of my 5I hdb flat. One connected with tp link_5G_ext wifi, the other connected with the original wireless router wifi. Got worried when the status bar showed weaker for the tp link_5G_ext wifi. Downloaded a few wifi test apps to check signal strength. Happy to note that all apps showed marked improvement for both download speed and upload speed. \nSo far am satisfied with this under $70 investment.\n

Plug it in near the router, press the WPS button on the router snd the WPS on the TP-Link, wait about 30 seconds, repeat the procedure for the 5ghz frequency (if you have it, if not dont bother). Move it then to a socket not too far away from the router, wait a couple of moments and job done. Much easier than I expected; took no more than 10 minutes to set up. Instructions are very clear and easy to follow. Coverage is excellent: the erratic signal from the router is perfect now in those parts where it would come and go and be regularly interfered with by neighbouring routers. As I move around the house, devices switch automatically from the original router to the extender and back. Only a small criticism: the device is larger than the pictures suggest and you need to ensure enough space around the wall socket when the aerials are extended.

We bought a new iPad and were convinced by your excellent sales man that wifi only would be the way to go, so long as we improved our wifi signal at home. So we bought this product, hoping it was as straightforward to set up as he said. And it was! We're not very techy, so we were somewhat nervous. But it's clearly explained, works a treat, and saves us the cost of a SIM card and monthly charge. Would certainly recommend.

Device works well and increases the signal in my summerhouse where I previously had difficulty sometimes. Oddly, though, it works better (i.e. higher signal strength) when placed next to an open window. Closing the window depletes the signal. I can only put this down to something in the glass! I think it might be, so called, 'K' glass. Whilst the device works well, the instructions didn't. It took me ages to get it set up, and only after contacting tp-link for help. Things were not explained properly. For example , it asked me to enter a password. I assumed this was the password for my existing router wifi but it was actually, as I realised later, an admin password for the extender. I find this a common failure with many devices these days. I've said 'good value' ... MoreDevice works well and increases the signal in my summerhouse where I previously had difficulty sometimes. I've said 'good value' but that is an entirely subjective question. I've also said 'good quality' but remains to be seen. It seem well made and robust but as I've only had it for a month or so, I can't comment on its reliability or maintainability.
Why on earth don't theses things simply work out of the box? Why is a degree in computer science needed to understand all the gobbledygook when they don't work?First of all, the recommended app was a disaster - it simply didn't recognise that there was a range extender there, and there was no way in which it could be persuaded to do so. In the end, I had to use a wifi-capable laptop to do the job, and the thing was eventually coaxed into communication with the outside world. Now that it's working, seems OK - not exceptional, but at least OK.
Internet speed tests now consistently show poorer results when this device is plugged in. No idea why. Our son set this up for us. All the blue leds are on, as they apparently should be. The differences are not huge, but they are not in this units favour - plugged in they are around 10 for download and 7 for upload. Unplugged? 14/9. Both sets of figures are poor. We only began to notice over the later part of lockdown, so the amount of traffic may have something to do with it. The online manual is a horrifying mess, the exact and precise opposite of plug and play. Looking at it makes my heart sink. Even if you do set it up correctly, plainly it doesnt necessarily stay that way. Resoundingly NOT recommended. And I challenge all those who thought this was beneficial ... MoreInternet speed tests now consistently show poorer results when this device is plugged in. No idea why. Our son set this up for us. Good Points: Using 2.4G signal for our camera in our rear garden, around 70 feet from the booster signal is good enough. The 5G signal boost also reaches our rear garden.have considered buying second unit to create a 'mesh' network though often do not need reception beyond camera in rear garden.Improvement Points: Signal in rain does become more patchy and reception from our camera may fade out or not be receivable to view, hence rating of 8.
As an IT dummy even I managed to set up this Wi-Fi booster, so that I could get the signal to a new external Ring camera (in the garden) and a new internal TV some way from the main hub. Given I have an old house with solid walls and lots of odd shaped rooms, I was sceptical that it would work at all.The signal is relatively weak to my Ring camera, as it keeps telling me but the camera works. The new internal smart TV gets the internet/Netflix etc, so all good.Worth 5 stars really but the weak WiFi signal drops it down to 4 stars: maybe I just have the Ring camera too far from the booster!
Once set up it works well. Guidance is a little confusing but don't be put off by that, I'm an old chap but pretty experienced with compter-related kit. I would recommend it but, if you are buying it with the expectation that wifi calling will work seamlessly as you wander around your house, it doesn't. There is a lag if you move between the overlap between the modem and the extender. In terms of its effectiveness as a booster it's very good.
