TP-Link UH700 7 Port USB 3.0 Hub

This replaces an unpowered 7 socket usb hub. Early days but seems well up to the job. Other TP Link kit I have has proved very reliable so expecting good service from this piece. Fast delivery in spite of Christmas run up was a bonus.

Doesn't work correctly

This sat on my desk for a while because the USB cable that comes with it is so short I had to reconfigure my desk to use it. It works fine as long as I don't plug in the power supply. When I do, the lights dim and all the ports stop working. That's find if you're just using it for a mouse, keyboard or flash drives, but nothing works that draws extra power and I suspect it won't charge anything either. I have an external HDD that doesn't need a power supply when plugged directly into the computer, but won't work with the hub.Tech support is non-existent. Just a lame bulletin board that doesn't seem to be manned by TP-Link at all and is full of people who have no idea what they're doing or what they're talking about.

Gerat USB Hub

As soon as you take this USB hub out of its box, you realise you are holding a quality piece of kit. It has a nice feel to it. Plug it in, and it just works. If you plug a phone into one of the three heavy-duty ports, you get a good charge rate. I've done data transfer tests from a very fast PC to USB hard drives via this, and get excellent transfer rates. Speed is limited by the hard drives in question, not the USB hub. The only trouble I've had is with below-par USB 3.0 cables. Swapping them out for shorter, quality cables solved that. The supplied USB 3.0 cable was one metre long, which was too short for my needs. Good Device with great performance at a reasonable price.

Review of TP-Link USB 3.0 7-Port Hub with UK power adaptor and 1m USB 3.0 cable

Good Points: 7 x USB ports of which 3 are powered ones. It is a powered unit itself. Looks stylish and has a cool blue light when the power is on. It is powering all my USB devices into my music production laptop. I highly recommend this product.Improvement Points: It could be a little heavier so it feels more substantial and doesn't move around too easily when on your desk. Also, a couple of extra feet on the power supply would be helpful just to make it more flexible in regards reaching power points.

Simple and Totally Functional

With 8 USB ports on the back of my motherboard, and 4 on the front of my PC, and 3 on the side of my monitor (built in hub), I really have enough ports for my needs. However, with most of those ports being behind the case, it certainly qualifies as at least a mildly annoying first world problem to have to reach back there to reach those plugs. I like the ports to be right in front of me and that's exactly what this device makes possible. Many have complained about the side power port and I can see why that would be annoying most of the time. But for me it was actually a good thing. I have this sitting in my keyboard tray (it's a huge keyboard tray, 38" wide x 19" deep) which has a power outlet installed at the rear and a port for wires to pass through. This hub sits just right so that the port for the USB cable to exit is right behind it and the power outlet is right next to it. It couldn't be any better. Overall I'm very satisfied with this. My only complaints are minor and situational to my particular setup. It does exactly what it's supposed to do and it does it well.

Small but perfectly formed USB 3.0 ports extension hub

This is a small but perfectly formed extension hub. Beautifully designed with a black surround that appears sturdy. One negative is the product is a little lightweight and easily moves when knocking cables. The size of the UH700 belies its powerful output quality for charging products. 7 USB 3.0 ports. 4 normal data support hubs with a further three that offer a power output that are perfect for charging the various tech products we all have. A simple plug and use. So far greatly impressed and delighted with my purchase and would, without hesitation, recommend this product.

This little gem works perfectly for my needs. My only nitpick is that I would prefer the AC and data cable ports to be either in the rear or on the same end. Not a deal breaker by any means. I have a nice full size ATX case and a motherboard with many USB 3.0 connections (not pulling it out to count them for this review, but I think 5 rear+ 2 front =7). Seemed like a lot when I built my PC. I use them all. I also use some located on my monitor, which is not as convenient as adding a hub. This helps me avoid swapping plugs when I want to offload data to my backup drives, or attach my other extra peripherals temporarily with convenience.
