I would return it if I could. Worst purchase I have made in years.I had thought there would be some added flavour using this grill. Might as well be an electric stove. But you are stuck using stupidly priced pellets. Very expensive to run as a result. No wood flavour at all. Can’t even smell it when it’s running. And it is very thin-wall construction. Extremely inefficient. The app won’t give alerts no vibration on my phone, and no sound even when unmuted. The watch app very rarely gives me an alert, and I can’t seem to do anything with the watch app. Won’t connect to the grill at all.

The not so great first. Ordered in May, assembled Traeger and then at the last step found the plug provided was a US plug not UK. Informed it could take until August to get a replacement plug from Traeger. It turned out being sightly quicker and got the plug at end of June. John Lewis had to pass it off to the supplier to resolve. To compensate Traeger did provide a utensil (Pigtail) worth £30 retail. The plug is a kettle style Uk plug, very common in the UK.Found a similar style plug in the house and used that which worked until the Traeger provided plug arrived. Clearly a wider QC issue as another reviewer of a John Lewis Traeger grill also mentioned the same thing. The great, loving cooking on the Traeger. Hooked straight up to my wifi in the garden. Grill controls the temp well and is very easy to use. Download the Traegar App as they have lots of helpful recipes and you can send the temp from the menu to the grill via WIfi. You can power the grill down from inside the house using the app and control it all from your house when on wifi. If you just want to BBQ food in a normal way (quick burgers/sausages) then not worth it just for that, but if you are considering this grill you will want to do more than those basics. If you want to explore slow cooking and smoking your food, go for it you will not be disappointed. Just check what plug you receive :-)

I've had a mixed experience with my Traeger over the last year and a half. When using it at low to mid temperatures, I've been able to achieve a nice bark and smoke flavor on my pork and brisket, and the ease of use is a plus. However, I wouldn't say that the Traeger is a jack-of-all-trades grill like it's advertised. While it can reach temperatures up to 500 degrees, it requires meticulous cleaning beforehand to avoid grease fire, which can melt the powder coat off of the grill. Additionally, the amount of pellets and time it takes to reach high temperatures is not very efficient. In my experience, the Traeger is best used as a smoker rather than an all-purpose grill. After experiencing a grease fire because I missed one spot in the grill when cleaning, the coat bubbled and flaked off, which is unacceptable. I'm not the only one in my Traeger circle who has experienced this issue, so it's something to keep in mind.

Don't have much to share that isn't already written. I love the grill because you aren't confined how to cook on it; you can move from slow cooking and smoking to searing within minutes. Two weeks in and I have put through pork belly, burgers, wings and a brisket. The only watch out for is ensuring you keep it cleaned and vacuum the ashes out frequently otherwise they pack in and it just takes a little longer. First grill had been damaged through shipping but after dealing with customer service a new grill was dispatched to replace it with no issues.
Grill is 10 months old. Always cleaned after 2 to 3 cooks. Today I had a very small flare up from ribs I was cooking at 250. I got to it instantly as I was close to the unit the temp only rose to 325. The small amount of flame next to the paint completely ruined it. It's all bubbled and peeled. The grill will now rust and looks terrible. I called Traeger and they say any kind of flare up voids paint warranty. I could understand if I was negligent and let it get greasy or if the flare up was intense and got out of hand. Neither was the case. The paint on these grills cannot handle any kind of flare up. Check the forums on Traeger website and you will see this is common. My advice is to pick another brand
Smoker was great the first year. Then started having issues. Set the grill to 165 and it runs around 220. Set at 225 and its at 275. Contacted Traeger support and they have confirmed this is a known issue on the pro 575 and pro 780. There is no fix as of right now and issues have been reported for over 2 years. The solution is to just wait and hope they release a software update that actually fixes the issue. My advice avoid the pro models and pick another brand or step up to a higher end model. Apparently they are not having the same issues
Excellent product, very easy to set up and use. It really is a set and forget type of smoker. It holds set temp within 10 degrees, built in meat probe works well, WiFi controller and Traeger app very easy to use. You can control all temp alarm and timer functions from your phoneI’m cooking for two most of the time so the 575 is a good fit, for larger families I would suggest the 780.Pellets are on the pricey side, regular price is $40 for a 9 kg bag. On sale they are $35. Expect to get about 20 hours of low temp 120 degree cooking from each bag.I’ve found Louisiana grill pellets at Costco for about half that price but have not used them yet. I purchased my 575 about 2 months ago. I was excited to enjoy the control and ease of use it would give me. So far it’s been a nightmare hundreds of dollars of ruined food. I followed the recipes on the app and they take hours longer then it should. The grill is super hot on the vent end and cool on the other. I had the grill full and the butter sauce on one side was burnt and the other side cold and solid. A turkey we made was burnt on the bottom and raw on top. The grill is maintained and clean. There is no answer from Traeger on what the issue could be. They said check and see if it’s level. The fun and excitement are gone and I’m back to using my Broil King. In the end all I do with it is roast at 400 cause I can’t cook any other way. I don’t recommend Traeger ... MoreI purchased my 575 about 2 months ago. This grill was gifted for our wedding.. I was very excited to begin using it. The app is very intuitive and easy to use, it was easy to assemble. What I've noticed, my first few cooks I've had significant trouble getting the meat up to to temp in the specified time. For example, 3,2,1 Ribs, after 6 hours were only at 140F (cooking at 220) Condering Traegers recipe tells you to hit 190 or 200F, I resorted to finishing on the bbq so my guest could eat at a decent time. Embarrassing. At first I thought it was the meat probe, so I checked with another probe and calibrated it, it was fine. I read everything on the Traeger troubleshooting, used quality pellets, checked for air flow and gaps or anything blocking the heat etc. What I found is the cooking surface was ... MoreThis grill was gifted for our wedding.. Embarrassing. At first I thought it was the meat probe, so I checked with another probe and calibrated it, it was fine. I read everything on the Traeger troubleshooting, used quality pellets, checked for air flow and gaps or anything blocking the heat etc. What I found is the cooking surface was significantly lower in temperature then what the digital controller was reading. 170F when the grill said 220. No wonder my food did not cook.I got ahold of multiple people on the support line, which is handy as its basically text messaging, however there only check for the thermocouple is that is can read the ambient temperature fine and they send you an article about how third party thermometers shouldn't be used because "They cannot detect variance and hot and cold spots". Well the cold spot is where the meat is cooked, so thats a problem lol. That's nonsense. The thermocouple on the grill is placed directly above the flame and fan so the heat reading is off. They told me its fine and basically to do better. It was even suggested that the grill was sitting in the sun which compromised the accuracy lol, I live in southern Canada and its nearly winter. If you research even a little bit online you can see this is an ongoing issue with the grill Traeger obviously does not take seriously. Not one that can't be overcome, but do not expect Traeger to take accountability.I will be using my own oven thermometer to monitor temperature moving forward and will update this review with my findings. I'm excited to use this grill again but cooking my own way, because even at low temperature the food has been great, so when cooked correctly I think it will be even better. If I had paid for this grill I would of returned it and purchased something less expensive that I knew I'd have to monitor myself. At the very least, the meat probe is bang on, maybe I had too high of expectations for the digital controller.
The Traeger 575 is a very good pellet smoker but some things about it definitely drive me nuts, especially for the price you're paying and while it may not be top of the Traeger lineup, I would still classify it as a prosumer grill.Good:- Love the electronics, wireless temperature probe and wifi connectivity.- The smartphone app is top notch and can't be beat. Creates a really a wonderful experience. Competitors can't compare on this front. The annoyances:- Firebox cleanout is a pain. The whole grill needs to be opened apart and shop vac brought in. Camp chef does a far superior job on this front.- No direct access to firebox flame to sear steaks as you can get with the Pit Boss or Camp chef. Indirect cooking only.- Does not come with the pellet sensor, ... MoreThe Traeger 575 is a very good pellet smoker but some things about it definitely drive me nuts, especially for the price you're paying and while it may not be top of the Traeger lineup, I would still classify it as a prosumer grill.Good:- Love the electronics, wireless temperature probe and wifi connectivity.- The smartphone app is top notch and can't be beat. Indirect cooking only.- Does not come with the pellet sensor, this is a separate addon. Given the price paid, would expect to have this feature included- Missing super smoke feature which is actually included on the Traeger entry level grills and also more premium Ironwood line and higher grills.- Single large grill for cooking. This makes it impossible to clean since no one has a sink large enough to put it in. All other grills have multiple grates to make them more manageable / easier to work with. A definite must after a long cook. These annoyances didn't stop me from buying this grill and I will continue to hold onto it for now but they are all things that weren't considered as this was my first venture into the world of pellet smokers. You don't know what you don't know and to do it again you might do differently. Perhaps Traeger can incorporate this feedback into future Pro series grills. There is still enough differentiating features not to cannibalise their Ironwood series.Despite all, a solid grill with a large cooking surface and great connectivity for those that like the technology and the apps. Would still recommend to others.Regards,-Sean
