These have changed. The Velcro fly is now a zipper, the material is a little different and they run a little bigger but I still like them better then other brands I have. The big downside to these is that for the 2nd time in ordering a 34 waist the liner shorts that come with it are literally more like a 28 and I am not exaggerating. You won't be able to wear them. I couldn't even get them on and the shorts themselves are a little on the big side for me. It will be the last time I buy these.

I've got an older version of these shorts that have always been my favorite, but the velcro fly finally went out. Orders these as replacements and they're even better now that they have a zipper. Hoping to get another 6-7 yrs out of these. Fit great, nice material, and work great pairing with my road cycling bibs.

I just got a pair and their sizing chart is bizarre. It says, for instance, that the size 30 has a 32" waist. That should have been a red flag, I guess. So I ordered the size 30, thinking it would fit my 32" waist. Alas, no. The size 30 has a 30" waist. So why do they call it a 30, then say the waist is a 32", when it's actually a 30?? No idea.Quality seems to be "okay," but not exactly the gear I think is going to last me for years.

I have never had a pair of MTB specific shorts previously and have always used road bib shorts. However, these were on Sale at a very good price and seem well made and very detailed. Liner is detachable too.Haven't used them yet except to try on but first impressions are good despite being a complicated set up compared to my usual bib shorts.
Shell shorts are comfortable, stretchy, good long length and adjustable waist. Liner is terrible - way too tight/small, fabric is rough and uncomfortable with almost no stretch. Save yourself the pain and just order the shell option.
Out of the bag, I'm pleased with the shorts themselves. They are a good fit. However the liner is ridiculously small. I ordered a 34 and the shorts definitely fit like a 34 and no complaints with fitment but the liner feels like a 30 even though the attached tag says 34. I do understand these liners are supposed to have a snug fit, but this is beyond snug, it is cutting off circulation. I don't know what the solution is because if I up-size to accommodate the liner, I will be swimming in the shorts themselves. Not quite sure yet what to do.
I wear a 32 waist in street clothes. I own seven or eight pairs of Skyline shorts in size 30 and they fit perfectly for a more trail riding fit. Bought a new pair of size 30 (Feb. ‘24) and the sizing has changed. Size 30 is now way too tight. Leg openings are also noticeably wider. That might be my last Skyline shorts unfortunately.
This must be my 7th or 8th pair of TLD mountain bike shorts. And as usual, the Skyline does not disappoint. The fabric is sturdy yet not too heavy. The fit is spot on. I am a size 34 waist, and this size Large short is perfect. The pockets are roomy and zip closures are great. The leg length is perfect. This and the Skyline Air Short are my go to styles for mountain biking.
Have had many shorts over the years. I bought these new Skyline shorts because the last pair I had lasted a few years and were the best short I have owned. The new pair I bought a couple of months ago is the WORST short I have ever owned. For the size, the short is almost too big, even with the annoying Velcro waist band adjusters(more on that) pulled all the way tight. The inner padded short on the other hand is way too small, I cannot even use them. Also, although I rarely put change in my pocket, the few times I have somehow the coins get behind the mesh liner and into and area where I cannot get them out, so annoying that I have cut the pockets out completely, now I can't carry anything in them, this has happened at least 2-3 times. And now about the Velcro side ... MoreHave had many shorts over the years. I bought these new Skyline shorts because the last pair I had lasted a few years and were the best short I have owned. And now about the Velcro side adjusters, awful, the spikes on the Velcro dig into my skin when riding and is very uncomfortable. I only wish I had returned them immediately
Troy Lee Designs Skyline Shorts seem so far to be durable, and functional. They have a relaxed fit and are made of lightweight, breathable materials. Equipped with front pockets and adjustable waistbands, they don't have pockets on the rear. It's a stylish designs, but they come at a higher price point, their quality and performance make them a worthwhile investment for me.
