Absolutely love this backpack. Way more space than my $$$$ briefcase. However what I real love about this backpack is 1 it looks super professional, 2 it stores all my files, 2 lab tops, 3 ring binders & all sorts of other travel stuff and some extra clothes because none of use trust checking our bags anymore. Pairs perfectly with my Tumi International suitcase. So you know I bought this backpack today and already traveled from EWR to GSO and couldn’t be anymore happy with this purchase, well worth the price. Finally super happy with the sales girls at Short Hills Mall who showed me all of my options, no pressure just super professional. Keep us the good work Tumi.

Waited to rate until I could travel with it. Really an excellent bag. Stands up on its own loaded or mostly empty. Great pockets and liner color makes it easy to find items. So comfortable with one strap or two and stacks on suitcase perfectly. Superior to Fjalraven which was my last work bag. Exceeding my expectations from a performance and aesthetics standpoint. Make sure to personalize before checkout. I got excited to purchase and missed the opportunity!!

Fantastic backpack. Just got through a week long international work trip and it handled all of it really well. Plenty of pockets; it’s big but very manageable and feels great, even fully loaded, while carrying. Last note, really high quality zippers. It seems like a small thing but so important.

I use this backpack as my main travel luggage. It's great. It replaced a previous Tumi backpack that is now 15+ years old. Since I purchased the new Alpha Bravo at Lenox Square, I have ordered the 1) matching packable rain cover, 2) the interior hanging toiletries bag, 3) 3 of the matching modular pouches, 4) the Airpods Pro pouch, 5) the folding modular pouch 6) the matching zip around case and 7) the matching waist pack (for mobility). I threw in a beautiful blue double billfold wallet for sh*ts and giggles (no...it was time to retire the old backpack and the old LV wallet). If you think you want the matching accessories, go ahead and get them.
Ok... so, I got this bag to replace my 6 years old Victorinox Lexicon Professional Bellevue 15, which is also a top-tear premium bag.In my review I'll mainly compare it to the Victorinox, and share my experience with the TUMI search so far (only EDC for a month+).General:SIZE - Similar size, but slightly bigger than the Victorinox - As I never tried the TUMI Search before buying, I had only pictures as a reference... The Search looks bigger in pics than in real life which wad my main concern. But it truly isn't that big, and not much bigger than the Victorinox.Materials:Fabric - although the Search has TUMI's ballistic nylon, also the Victorinox has a very durable ballistic nylon which seems a little thicker. Only time will tell if the Search will hold on ... MoreOk... so, I got this bag to replace my 6 years old Victorinox Lexicon Professional Bellevue 15, which is also a top-tear premium bag.In my review I'll mainly compare it to the Victorinox, and share my experience with the TUMI search so far (only EDC for a month+).General:SIZE - Similar size, but slightly bigger than the Victorinox - As I never tried the TUMI Search before buying, I had only pictures as a reference... But it truly isn't that big, and not much bigger than the Victorinox.Materials:Fabric - although the Search has TUMI's ballistic nylon, also the Victorinox has a very durable ballistic nylon which seems a little thicker. Only time will tell if the Search will hold on "as new" like the Victorinox (hopefully).Zippers - Search has "lighter" and much more easy to open (easily one handed) than the Victorinox which has more "heavy duty" zippers, but harder to manipulate. I hope that the Search zippers will hold on years ahead like the Victorinox.Organization - TUMI's Search is much much better in the pocket layout than the Victorinox, more traditional but much more practical - has more inside pockets for organization, much bugger side pockets and overall larger space for storage. For my needs the Search is just perfect in this term. Also the inside fabric material in the Tumi is nicer.Weight distribution - I had both bags with the same equipment (Dell XPS 13 laptop, ipad mini, mouse, usb hub, cables pouch, wallet, business cards, several key chains, sunglasses in a case) and the Search weight distribution is much better, and more convenient to carry.Looks & Design - its a very subjective matter, and I like both. But the Search is more conservative and clean looking, while the Victorinox is more innovative, different and has leather handles and accents which I like and whish the Search had. Search external top pocket has no structure support which is a con, so I kept the original TUMI packing material and still had spare space to store items internally, but this should be changed in the future model design.Delivery & Packing - One of the quickest deliveries overseas I had from Amazon (Zappos), and the packing was top level. The bag arrived in 100% condition in a large box (no gift box, just a regular box).Didn't have the option to personalize it on purchase process via Amazon which could be great. To summarize my review -Pros:- Beautiful clean design- Excellent organization layout- Great weight distribution and carrying convenience- Perfect size for EDC ( much to spare) and probably for travel (haven't tested it yet)- Smooth and easy to use zippers (durability yet to be proven years ahead)- Excellent packing and extremely quick delivery overseas (Amazon via Zappos)Cons:- Ballistic nylon - thinner than expected and compared to my Victorinox bag - durability yet to be proven years to come.- No option for personalization at purchase process on AmazonBottom line:Highly recommended !
The Search is the best all around travel-focused backpack I've come across in a long time. It is capacious enough for fully stuffed Peak Design Medium + Small packing cubes, toiletries bag, laptop, water bottle, umbrella and a few other items. The main compartment has its own volume and isn't impacted by the side or front pockets coming in to steal space. As with other Tumi bags, it has really durable construction and zippers that are slide easily to manipulate with one hand, yet are durable and don't snag. There are lots of small design features that frequent travelers would appreciate. For example there is a hidden magnetic snap pocket at the top that is perfect for sliding in your phone before walking through airport security. There is no denying that for $550, it is expensive, and it's not a purchase to take lightly. Given that this bag can be used for EDC work plus travel, I would consider it a decent value and should last for many years.

Pockets and compartments galore. Came from a Tumi briefcase that had all the storage. Was nervous coming to the backpack and am pleasantly surprised with how much room their is in this thing.I carry the following...15 in laptop; 15in second LED monitor, ipad Pro, chargers for all the things; several manilla folders that hold approx 100 sheets of paper in total; various A/V adapters and cables; cat6 cable, HDMI cable; several other misc items. I still have room to spare.Good quality on the build. The attachment loops almost serve as a MOLLE system which allows me to put several other items attached to the bag (carabiner, keys, etc)
I am a long time Tumi customer, having bought multiple suitcases, shoulder bags and backpacks over the years. This review is after using the backpack for about a month, including two 4-day trips across the country. The Search represents the culmination of a lot of refinements from previous backpacks like the Shepard and Nellis, and Nathan backpacks. When shopping for a travel backpack, I bought both the Search and the Navigation, but found the Navigation too similar to the Nellis which I own, which is better suited as an EDC work bag. For the Search, I wanted a backpack that could function as a more travel focused backpack, large enough to hold 3-4 days' worth of clothes and supplies and it definitely ticks those boxes. I especially appreciate the side pockets ... MoreI am a long time Tumi customer, having bought multiple suitcases, shoulder bags and backpacks over the years. For the Search, I wanted a backpack that could function as a more travel focused backpack, large enough to hold 3-4 days' worth of clothes and supplies and it definitely ticks those boxes. I especially appreciate the side pockets which are shaped and large enough to securely hold an 18 oz Hydro Flask, and most collapsible umbrellas. It is comfortable to wear even when fully packed out, and I love how it stands up on its own. The zippers are also easy to open one-handed, which is an underrated featured especially when you're in a tight space (eg: middle seat) and need to grab something quickly. I also love the hidden magnetic pocket at the top, which is perfect for when you need to drop your phone into your bag before walking through airport security.I don't plan to use the exterior webbing to attach anything yet, as I prefer a sleeker carry, but appreciate that it's there to use in a pinch for something like extra shoes, jackets etc. As far as packing is concerned, I can store full medium and small Peak Design cubes, a toiletries bag, 14" MBP, tech cables/kit, umbrella and a 16-18 oz water bottle. The backpack will be full, but balanced and not bursting at the seams. The Search quality is right up there and what I've come to expect from Tumi. Yes, it's more expensive than other options on the market, but I do believe you do get what you pay for which includes customer support for repairs and such.
Great design, aesthetics, and style. The bag does not look too big or bulky, rather I find the size just right. The storage size and capacity of the bag is perfect for my everyday use. The only design flaw is that the front of the bag where the logo is located does not hold its shape and will collapse unless you stuff the inside with a cloth or something. Other than that, I really like this bag and can’t wait to use it more. At first I wasn’t too sure about the new design in comparison to the Sheppard, but now I find this design more modern and tech like.
