This product worked great! I contacted the twelvesouth staff before I ordered it and asked the following; I have an old school iPod that only has a 3.5 mm output jack for wired headphones or ear plugs. I wanted to plug the AirFly into the output of the iPod and transmit Bluetooth to wireless devices; Bluetooth headphones or stand-alone Bluetooth speakers or connect to Bluetooth in my car. I was told that I would have to purchase the AirFly Pro + to make this happen. That's $20 more. Found out the basic AirFly does exactly what I want for the cheap price. Customer Service Staff needs to be trained or quit trying to upsell for no reason.

I purchased an AirFly a little while ago but didn't have the opportunity to actually *use* it until I was on a very long flight to Hawaii recently. I got the standard free headphones from the flight attendant and tried to watch a movie, but the sound was so bad it was actually painful. I hadn't planned to use the AirFly -- I hadn't even set it up yet -- but I'd brought it along just in case, and I was able to get it working in a minute or two. The difference was night and day; the movie sound went from terrible to perfect, and I had a *much* better time watching movies for the rest of the flight. The AirFly saved the day for me!

Purchased a couple of these for use on a 5ish our flight. I charged them up and paired each with a set of AirPods pros.Got on the airplane and when they were turned on they both connected right away.No concerns with sound and was able to watch the inflight movies easily. Was great.one of the two units did sometimes seem to loose connection to one of the AirPods if I took it out of my ear while it was playing. So i would have to put the AirPods back into the case and kind of reset the connection. It was kind of an annoyance but the overall experience was still great not having to use any cables .I did not test the ability to connect two sets of headphones to one Airfly.Side note about when I tried to purchase the units. I used the website to check the inventory levels and in this case it was accurate.

I bought this be able to use my AirPods Pro with my TV. I'm more satisfied with it than not. At first I had problems making the connection right out of the box, but then it worked easily after I gave it a full charge. The connection is good. The biggest downside is that sometimes I experience latency issues, but in those cases, it's usually just with a few specific live TV channels or other program sources. The rest of the time it's acceptable. The other bothersome aspect is that because it's battery powered, you have to get up and turn it off and on when you want to use it, and also if you want to re-pair your headphones after they've been connected to another device. Also note, this can be used with a 1/4" headphone adapter, but your mileage may vary. When I plugged this into my Sony AV receiver, I got unacceptable amounts of background hiss. But when I plugged it into my headphone amp, it worked wonderfully, just as it did without the adapter when plugged directly into the headphone jack on my TV.
The Twelve South AirFly Duo is a fantastic piece of technology that allows you to easily connect your wireless headphones to in-flight entertainment systems on airplanes. The setup is simple and the sound quality is excellent. I also appreciate the ability to connect two sets of headphones at once, making it perfect for traveling with a companion. Overall, I highly recommend the AirFly Duo for anyone who frequently travels by plane and wants to enjoy high-quality audio without the hassle of wires.
Paired with Galaxy Bud Pros (and also Sony WF-1000XM4) quickly and easily. Easy to reconnect (to AirFly) after using Buds with other devices. Sound quality equitable with Buds connected to other devices as it is connected to AirFly. Purchased the AirFly - not Duo or Pro - for the volume control feature on the device (which is more responsive than an airline monitor volume control). BUT!!! it is not twenty hours run time. On a 15 hour flight, fully charged AirFly depleted after about 9 hours of continuous use. Even though made in China, I would still recommend - just make sure you have along enough charging cable to keep charging while using AirFly in flight.
First off product works amazing, you hook it up to your phone and it works flawlessly. I use it for my 2011 bmw cause apparently in 2011 bmw didn't think bluetooth was good enough to play music from. My only grip is that living in Texas it gets suuuuuper hot and the performance drops off a cliff once the ambient air gets above 90 or so. The playback gets distorted and sounds like it almost blows out the speakers. It doesn't the quaility is just poor if it's hot out. Besides that it's great. The battery life is pretty good too. Like 5 days of driving a couple hours a day before a recharge.
Item was easy to sync to my AirPod Pro’s and tried it with my iPad without difficulty. Used for first time two weeks ago on AA 787 in first class. There were two plug slots for headphones (never used the supplied B&O NC headphones). I plugged in to each of the two plugs but would receive monaural sound in APPs when watching aircraft monitor. I disconnected and just used my iPad Pro with my APPs using BT from iPad. After exiting aircraft I later wondered what the male plug(s) on the supplied B&O NC looked like and wondered if I needed a plug adapter? On return flight (same aircraft/airline) I looked and the headphones plug was single and of the same size. Bottom line, d Vice probably would’ve worked fine in main cabin assuming there is a single plug input on the ... MoreItem was easy to sync to my AirPod Pro’s and tried it with my iPad without difficulty. Bottom line, d Vice probably would’ve worked fine in main cabin assuming there is a single plug input on the monitor (didn’t walk back and look). It is my understanding that airlines are upgrading their systems to allow for built-in BT connection thus negating the need for this device. Item was returned yesterday.
I bought the AirFly Pro because I wanted the ability to receive and transmit bluetooth signals. I haven't used it extensively, so I can't attest to its durability, but it works. I wanted to be able to use my older wired noise canceling headphones with my new iPhone 13 via bluetooth. Frank at Customer Support was great at talking me through needing to buy a female to female 3.5 mm adapter to make it work. I also tested its ability to transmit by plugging it in to an old iPod shuffle and used bluetooth headphones, and that worked well, too. I also plugged it into my TV and didn't really notice any lag. What it doesn't do is transmit and receive at the same time, so you can't use it for phone calls, but that is clear from the description. Product seems great; customer service was responsive, friendly, and useful; and ordering was painless.
This review is for the specific use case that I purchases this product for, mainly as a way to use my wireless bluetooth ear buds with the in-flight entertainment system on flights. Pairing was pretty simple, but the volume was really low. On 2 different Delta flights, pairing the AirFly Pro with Google Pixel Buds, I could barely hear the movie even with the Delta entertainment system volume turned all the way up. Wired headphones worked fine, and pairing my pixel buds to other sources, like my phone work fine. Even pairing my pixel buds to the AirFly Pro and plugging that into a Roku headphone jack or the headphone jack on my computer worked fine. It is specifically the case of plugging into the Delta in-flight entertainment system and pairing with my ear buds ... MoreThis review is for the specific use case that I purchases this product for, mainly as a way to use my wireless bluetooth ear buds with the in-flight entertainment system on flights. It is specifically the case of plugging into the Delta in-flight entertainment system and pairing with my ear buds where the volume was too low for it to be useful. Unfortunately, this is the primary use case for me and therefore it's now just another useless tech gadget that will sit in a drawer.
