Have put two in the house. The controller was flakey so ended up reinstalling that. They seem to have a bug with the login. Physical install was worse. They should easy twist on, until you go to actually put it on the ceiling. They are the most awkward POS to twist on. The range I now have is amazing, full coverage around the house. Just expect some pain with the physical setup.

I live in a 3 bedroom house where the Modem has to stay or in the third room or on Tv room, it is kind of on the other extreme of the house. The house has a kind of L shape...If you install the modem on the room you don't have stable Wifi on the TV room, or, if you install modem on the TV room whoever stays on the farthest room will struggle. Initially I had two modems, one on the bedroom and the other on the tv room and both wifi enabled, the Wifi signal in the room modem interferes with the tv room, if you stay in the middle of the house your devices won't have any decent signal, mobile suffers the most.My idea was having the so miraculous Unifi on the room and disable all the wifi from the Spark modem, it turns out the Unifi signal it is same or worst them the ... Have been using a couple of these for years, recently got a third. These are often used in commercial settings and it shows from the product design. They are super easy to install, come with all the mounting hardware and are powered by PoE.If you are already using UniFi, adding this to your network is as simple as pressing one button in the control software. If you're not already using UniFi, the setup might be more involved and that is the only con I can think of.They might be more expensive than other options, but you absolutely get what you pay for.

Added this to my network and other ubiquiti gear. Definitely improved the coverage as well as the visibility of users (prior to this I was using an old wireless router as an access point). All the additional network info (signal strength by user, user history, etc) was great too - essential stuff for network nerds! As other users have also alluded to - the ubiquiti gear is used commercially, and a bit easier to deal with if you've got a bit of an IT/ network background but even if you don't - a bit of reading and hunting down the tech forums will point you in the right direction. Worth it in the end.
Very easy set up. Attached the mounting plate to the ceiling under the stairs with two small screws (supplied). Plugged it in to the PoE power adapter (supplied) and network cable back to the switch and clipped it onto the mounting plate. Easy browser based set up program from my laptop. Lots of options, but left it all as the defaults and it worked immediately. Coverage is great covers the whole house, two stories. Running for month now, no issues. About 10 devices connected.
I installed this two weeks ago. It replaced two access points on my home network, a D Link DAP - 1620 (upstairs) and a D Link DSL-2870B modem / router / wifi AP (downstairs). I had been getting complaints from my family that "the wifi's not working", and I decided the issue was that the equipment just wasn't coping with the volume of traffic and number of devices.Wifi coverage is now good for my whole house from this one AP.Installation was not difficult, the process did involve learning new information about networking but the Ubiquiti website had all the information I needed. The controller and phone app are useful tools too.The family have not complained at all since I installed the Unifi AP, and my Ookla speedtest iPhone app tells me that download performance ... I have a VDSL2 broadband plan.
Download the software to your PC or Mac to configure the Ubiquiti access point and it just works. I haven't had a real chance to test the signal range. It seems reasonable but maybe not quite as good as I'd hoped for a supposedly long-range device so I'm deducting one star. The POE adapter is also slightly ugly, but not really an issue since this device has rescued me from the consumer-grade hell of the previous mini-extenders I bought. No DHCP conflicts like I had with the other brand. Everything connected cleanly (the other brand I tried connected PCs and phone's OK, but bizarrely messed up the IP addressing on Macs and TVs - but only sometimes - aaargh). Ubiquiti is good.
Bought this a few weeks back to add to my existing (home) network, which had 2xUAPs. They provided great solid service, but only had 2.4GHz radios and there's a bit of competition in that realm. This adds 5GHz for the main living areas and with the gigabit uplink means we can get more like the 300Mbps out of N. Only a few of our devices have AC, but it's still provided a noticible improvement for them (and older clients using N) in addition to improving the connection with less competition in 5GHz.Seamlessly slotted in to the existing system, plug it in, adopt it on the controller, and we were up and running! Also opted for this as it had 802.3af support (AC-Lite does too, it turns out, but for little extra this seemed better) which means I can avoid a pesky PoE ... Ubiquiti make some high quality, good looking and feature packed networking gear/ But the UniFi "adoption" method of adding devices is a bit of a let down for me. It has never been as straight forward as it should be. Once adopted, functionality is very good. But I really would like to see an alternative method of adopting devices into the network to make this less of a pain.Range is great for this AP. Covers my entire section with ease. Really good functionality for isolating a guest network and some features that you expect from a high end device like this with access code creation, etc. and custom landing pages.Overall, really good value. Looks great and performs well.
I trust Ubiquiti to get the job done - once they are set up they just keep on going. I always seem to have problems setting them up initially with the pc software though. This is the first of these AP's I've done - I bought this one based on previous reviews saying how good the range was so I was a bit disappointed with it to start with but found the transmit power setting and changed it from auto to high which made a big difference. The control software provides a very complex array of analysers and configurations but makes a lot of assumptions that you know exactly what you are doing. No real help if things don't happen as the guide says it should. A pared-down basic interface would be better for simple installations. (I have a Windows phone so can't use the ... (I have a Windows phone so can't use the android or ios app which may do this.) Lost three hours of my life getting it going how I wanted it to.As an aside - when trying to do a factory reset on this device, holding the reset button down for 5+ seconds as instructed didn't work - it took 20 seconds - and as for the reset button on the PoE, I have never ever gotten one of them to work for me, I have to use the button on the device.I will keep using Ubiquiti gear as it is a very reliable product (my first Ubiquiti installation was over three years ago and I haven't had to touch it since), but it helps knowing the idiosyncrasies of the setup and software.
