These are the best hand held vhf radios we have used to date, very good range, robust and reliable. The supplied belt clip is not very well designed as can easily become detached.
Used all day in rough weather transporting people and goods out to a mothership. Good loud and clear communication. Rechargeable battery and alkaline battery pack both provided, Either 240v plug-pack or 12v lighter socket can supply the charging cradle. Dropped in a dinghy part full of water after a sloppy wave and it operated just fine after giving it a bit of a shake out to get the water out of the grill. My only moans are that the high medium and low power indicators are very feint symbols and hard to see without looking hard. Also the transmit switch needs to be pressed in harder than required for the click action. You need to get used to that, if you just depress until hard enough until it goes click it's still not transmitting. I'll buy a second one.
I bought this for Kayak Fishing, straight out of the box the radio was simple to use. The Tri-band scanning function was all I needed as it allows monitoring of Marine emergency channels and your own selected channel at the same time. Range of unit seems fine. Charging station easy to use, on standby with occasional use the battery has already lasted for 3 days on a single charge.
Very disappointing - promises waterproof and submersible but when it was used in light rain it quickly became useless. The problem appears to be the microphone which stops working with no one able to understand any attempts to transmit. The other problem was the speaker volume which while adequate when the unit is dry faded to the point where it had to be held right next to your ear just to hear transmissions Buy something else
Got this to use when land base fishing when away fishing at my fishing shack! Works very well! Great range, clear mic and loud enough! Over all Im very happy with the product.
Uniden products have always been good value and quality products. still havnt got out on the water due to cv shutdown but easy to setup and use.
