Uniden XDECT Cordless Phone System - XDECT8355+2

Excellent phones for the price. NBN ready & so many features, including the ability to block annoying numbers. Bluetooth connection for mobile phone. Answering machine also takes care of annoying callers - they usually hang up.

This phone is great but for one major problem: The microphone (or some other part) is TERRIBLE. I just can't record a clear outgoing message - my voice breaks up and sounds aweful, like a long distance phone call from Mongolia. This happens when recording either at the base or from a handpiece. Don't buy unless you are happy with the preloaded generic outgoing message. Uniden support advised to move closer to the microphone - ???? will follow up and return as this is not what I expect from a company like Uniden - possibly a faulty unit?

There is one huge problem with this phone - the "end call" button is in the wrong place.Well, you might actually argue the Bluetooth button is in the wrong place, it's where the "end call" button is on every phone I've ever used so it's common, then, to press this instead of ending a call. I'm not being fussy here, this is a design decision that was just not thought through. Clearly Uniden saw the Bluetooth feature as its best feature so made the button prominent because of course I want to transfer the call to my mobile instead of hanging up.I bought this because the XDECT phones are good for call quality etc. and this is the same, but it's just so annoying it's going on TradeMe for $1

A worthwhile purchase.

Does everything it says it can do and does it well. Have been using a Uniden phone for more than 10 years without any problems and have only recently replaced a battery. With the arrival of NBN more extensions will be needed as the landline extensions will no longer work so this purchase is to do that. In addition the new system includes Bluetooth to enable the use of headphones for those with hearing problems.

Easy to programme phone.

Very user friendly and easy to use. However, for me being hearing impaired (helped with hearing aids), I find there is not enough volume without using the speaker phone facility, as I don't like conversing with this mode I am a little disappointed.

Great features, easy set up

Good phone for people with hearing problems like me. Easy to set up and use, great message bank memory. An all round good phone

It's OK if you are Tech Savvy

It's an ok phone, when you eventually get it set up. Instruction book is very vague and not well written. Dont even attempt to pair your mobile to it to access and download contacts into your new phone unless you have a 12yr old in readiness to assist.I can only use it in the most basic way, so I've paid heaps unnecessarily. The ring tones send the dog into a spin, have had to find the lowest ringing one, I wish I'd taken a teenager with me to purchase.

Overall very happy.

Easy to set up and use in general, the Bluetooth pairing with your mobile has been a great feature to help out my Great Aunt who struggles to see her mobile screen easily. One area that could be greatly improved, particularly with the elderly in mind, would be a clearer voice on the speaker phone. The inbuilt voice assistant comes through rather tinny and voicemail messages are hard to hear clearly at times. Otherwise this phone has been a real help.

Real Long range

I bought some of these phones years ago and they have served me very well on the land . They have the best range of any domestic cordless phone I have ever used apart from the commercial ones . If you put the repeater outside in clear view the distance will be around 400m plus .The audio is clear the functions suited me perfectly but I would like it to be able to block more than the standard amount of calls .The voice announcement of calls is exceptional if you can’t see the phone and it’s a scammer calling. No need to waste your time .The current set I own have been given a really hard time and are still going but due to cosmetic damage caused by the horse stepping on one another in the dam and one held together with tape from going under the tractor wheels, ... MoreI bought some of these phones years ago and they have served me very well on the land . Yes but No

Not a big advance on the Telstra/Uniden answer phone we bought 4 years ago! It does however seem to handle the NBN fibre to the premesis better than the old one. Just as well as it was for this reason we upgraded.The manual said that it would not take messages from mobiles! Really! A call to Uniden's 1300 help line fixed this - a very competent person there said the manual was "wrong" and guided me through a fix.The navigation buttons on the handsets are too small for my big fingers.The "Phonebook" is cumbersome and doesn't take advantage of the LED display.
