A friend recommended I upgrade to this and I have definitely enjoyed it. I use Pro Tools as my DAW and it works well. There are lots of options for the UAD plugins and it can help in some mixing situations when your computer is dragging from all the effects. The UAD has its own processor, so it’s like having a separate computer process those effects. It is powered, so it also works if the computer is off, which is helpful if you have a turntable or other analog gear you want to use when the computer is off.

simple to set up. Fantastic, clear, low noise. Stepping up into Apollo just improved my sound going in and coming out. This Guy is such a powerful little interface. Easily worthy of a world class studio but for now my home studio will be its humble abode.Have you even read the specs on this gizmo..its future proof in every way and really makes a huge difference to your sound and music. I have been running multiple plugins and processing my tracks with all sorts of fx but absolutely no lag or stutter.the mic preamps are very clean and have zilch noise while giving gain. this compliments my current setup big time. Highly recommend it to those who are serious about the kind of gear they use.

That was a lame title right?....I am a guitar player first and have NEVER been happy with my guitar sound until last night when I ran it through my studio monitors instead the headphones for the first time. I was blown away!! The comp/limiter and reverb sims are incredible. The signal routing flexibility is amazing.The math is simple. You can either pay thousands of dollars (maybe 10's of thousands) on high end gear and/or studio time OR you can buy the "expensive" little interface that literally does it all.A hands on reviewer, Sam Ash #41
This is the ultimate upgrade for any studio setup. THUNDERBOLT. Gone are the days of usb and firewire. Waited for usb 3 for the longest time and finally went for this option. Coming from UAD this product is pure quality and delivers majestic sound quality. There's almost no latency even when running heavy sessions. Works perfectly fine with all the softwares I tried it with..pro tools, ableton, cubase and logic..no issues or bugs. but be aware that they don't provide the thunderbolt cable which is a bit odd..but compensated by the "Real time Analog Classics" UAD plug-in bundle. Go for it if you are serious about your sound and want to make your tracks shine like pro's.
Universal Audio has really been putting out some great stuff recently. This piece is such a cool piece of gear for a project studio. Not only do you get a quality interface, but you also get access to UA's AWESOME plug-ins. It's kinda a bummer that this only has 2 mic inputs, but it's pretty incredible that it's expandable via ADAT. In general I really like this piece for smaller studios and mobile rigs. The UA Apollo Twin DUO is perhaps the easiest interface to use that offers the users the maximum amount of capabilities. Not only does it compliment Mac machines in functionality, it is also supremely visually appealing. Thunderbolt ready, like most Apple products, the DUO is ready to roll out of the box. Does require Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion or 10.9 Mavericks so be sure to keep that in mind. Upgrading to the UA Apollo Twin has been nothing but a joy and I wish I'd have done the upgrade much sooner. The unit has a sturdy build and I love that it's made of aluminium. Latency issues are non-existent due to Thunderbolt and both the convertors and Unison mic-pres sound great. I'm glad I opted for the Duo over the Solo so I can run more instances of the UAD-2 plugins, which a nice amount of those are already included. This interface is well worth its price and I definitely recommend to check it out if they have the chance, it lives up to the hype.
The Universal Audio Apollo-now in a more compact format for those who don't need a lot of I/O! This smaller Apollo still packs a punch. The chassis is solid and durable! The mic preamps sound amazing! There are 4 line outputs for monitors and auxiliary mixes. There is an optical port for expanding your inputs. There are 2 sharc chips that allow you to track and mix with your Universal Audio plug ins in real time, taking the load off of your CPU.
