Vallejo Matt Varnish 17 ml

A lovely smooth perfect matt finish. I do find that you have to thin it a little more than other paints, but no bother as it's an amazing varnish.

I'm not a big fan of Vallejo, but, this one works. Needs to be very well mixed. Try first on a black piece of paper. See the pattern before you dilute and adjust the pressure. Nice product.

I hate glossy finishes on models so wanted a matte varnish, Vallejo do matte, satin and gloss. This is the only one I have tried and works well but the end still makes the models quite shiney.Not sure if normal for a matt varnish in modeling but definitely seems more satin to me.

I have Steel Legion army for warhammer 40k where the majority of their model are still metal/pewter. And I have had many of my models paint (and even primer!) chipped off from general uses, which is frustrating to say the least. I then decided to find some sort of protective matt coating. The varnish spray from GW and army painter can be prone to frosting, so I settled for Vallejo matt varnish bottle and so far it work great! Can be painted on with normal brush without needing water, thus avoiding the hassle of finding right condition for spraying and the model came out like it should be; matt finish rather than satin or glossy. Definitely recommended

Great varnish

I highly recommend Vallejo varnish and paints, very good quality and always great results. Easy to use bottle and nice to control the quantity used.

High quality acrylic matt varnish, easy to apply and dries quickly. Easy brush clean in water too. So good I've now ordered a satin varnish as well. Excellent.

Not matte, more satin. Not recommended for modellers who require a good completely flat matte finish.

This is sold as a matte varnish but is far from matte. This is more of a satin finish than a matte one. It leaves way too much of a sheen. Not recommended for modellers who require a good completely flat matte finish. People have said in forums that it just needs a good shaking but I used an electric drill and a reciprocating saw to mechanically shake my paint. It is still a satin or semi-gloss finish.

One of my favorites

The Matte varnish from Vallejo is my favorite non-spray varnish. I live in an area that isn’t warm enough to use spray varnish outside year-round, and I don’t want to do that in the house. This has become a life-saver.I’ve purchased a couple bottles. Even though it’s matt, the finished product is just a little glossy. My only issue is that sometimes the result is really glossy instead of matt. I’m not sure if I’m not shaking the bottle enough or too much.
