This upright vacuum cleaner is light weight. The handle detaches from the main unit and can be connected to the flexible hose to allow access do difficult to reach areas. An extra piece of flexible hose is provided to allow more reach. There is also a crevice tool that doubles as a brush attachment. It has powerful suction and does a good job vacuuming carpets and smooth floors alike due to the carpet pile adjustment. While this is a corded vacuum, the cable is very long compared to most vacuum cleaners. Overall, this is a great vacuum cleaner and I would recommend it to others due to its performance and value for money.

Just bought this and what a pain. The vacuum only goes in straight lines there's no manoeuvre for turning. It's the shortest handle ever if your tall. It's an absolute pain how you have to change the flex tube to do edges and corners. There's no way whatsoever the Flexi tube reaches the top of the stairs without dragging the vacume with it. This is a total waste of money and if I hadn't used it to try it then it would have been boxed and returned it's very cheap and I will never buy a Vax brand again. They say you get what you pay for and that's very true. I've added a pic of the Flexi hose so judge for yourself... AVOID WASTING YOUR MONEY

I bought this vacuum for a friend, but I have two of my own. The first I bought years ago and eventually used it to clean our house mid-renovations. I was literally vacuuming plaster dust, sawdust, concrete rubble and nails. It coped with it all! I ordered a new one thinking the original wouldn’t survive the ordeal. But i was wrong! I took it apart, washed the filter in a hot wash in the washing machine and washed out the other removable parts by hand. I left it to dry and then put it back together and it worked like a dream! I now use that one for our cars and the new one in the freshly renovated house. Both work really well. I wash the filters regularly and they’re still going strong. The power of the vacuum is amazing on thick carpets and hard floors, with two dogs and kids to contend with. I honestly can’t fault it. I’ve given it 4 out of 5 for ease of use only because its quite heavy. We also have a little Vax cordless rechargeable vacuum for whizzing round after the dogs daily. We didn’t even consider another brand when we were looking for a cordless vacuum and have been equally impressed with the cordless Vax - but it doesn’t have the muscle of this one, which we use to do the big clean weekly. If you need something lightweight but fantastic, go for the Vax cordless. If you need something that’ll suck up almost anything, and will last for years without losing any suction, as long as you bother to throw the filter in the washing machine occasionally, go for this!

Bin Cleaning Issue
27 August 2024

I would have given this five stars if it was not for the problem of removing the inner part of the dust bin. No matter how hard I tried, and how many times I watched the video, I could not pull this out of the transparent bin to clean it. The video makes it look easy, but I have found it to be the reverse (I still have not been able to remove it, which is frustrating). Possibly, I do not have the required strength to pull it free, which presents a problem. Other than that, this has the most awesome suction of any vacuum I have ever had. I had used a well-known brand on my carpet before it stopped working and was impressed by the amount of dirt it picked up from my carpet. I returned the defective, well-known brand, along with the replacement, which also was defective, and got the Vax. I vacuumed the already vacuumed carpet and was amazed by the amount of dirt that the Vax picked up. It was the same amount as with the previously used vacuum.I did find it a bit heavy to use as I am no longer young and fit, but I would definitely recommend this vacuum if you want a deep cleaned carpet. It is also a fraction of the price of the well-known brand that I had to return, an added bonus for the cost conscious.

Can't recommend
27 July 2024

This is the first vertical cleaner we have had for many years, so to be fair I cannot compare it with other similar machines. We bought this to replace an old Henry.Good pointsPrice (You get what you pay for)Very good for clean carpets with the rotating brush.Good suction on hard surfaces.Bad pointsHeavy to push around and steer around furniture.Cable becomes a problem due to its length and you constantly have to lift and move it to get it out of the way.The accessories are not easy to use and we have given up using them.We do have a battery Vax we use and Henry has come out of retirement.Would I recommend anyone to buy one. Sorry, No.

Complicated
16 June 2024

Although the suction is the best I've come across. Assembling the wand, to hoover the stairs and hard to reach areas is complicated and time consuming. Cleaning the bin, it is necessary to take it apart as dirt gets trapped, I found it impossible. My husband had to do it, it took him ages and he's strong. Dint get me started on taking the brush bar out and putting it back together. Trying to line it up with the square bit at the bottom and holding the top of it in place with its various parts is practically impossible. I've just spent an hour and a half just trying to clean my hoover. Who ever designed this has obviously never maintained a vacume cleaner. My stress levels and bad language have never been so bad. Very dissapointed!

Features limited and not steerable
6 April 2024

Had a vax for years. Bit disappointed with this one, as just to use the hose, it's a very manual process and you have to clip.on the separate hose. Also, previous Vax was steerable and not having that ability makes a huge difference. This one is very cumbersome to move about rooms. Seitching from upright use and hose is a major pain, e.g. when doing the edges of the kitchen. Returning and buying the Vax pet max steerable, although more expensive, has a permanent hose and steerable.

Utterly Brilliant - Best Vacuum Ever
5 August 2023

We’ve cycled through dozens of vacuums which with either don’t last or are impractical to use. This machine is super powerful, very light to use, practical and way to maintain and at the fraction of the cost of other brands . In the 80s 90s the machines then were just so easy and practical to use and Vax have nailed this in a modern day equivalent - WELL DONE VAX. Not over engineered, just practically designed to do what a vacuum needs to do. Our carpets look fabulous again and my Asthma is now back under control. My exorbitantly expensive ‘D’ brand machine which was horrendous to use has gone to the tip - biggest wasye of money ever, and at a quarter of the price, this Vax surpasses it in everything level. Very user unfriendly

I was excited to get this vacuum, after reading the reviews which were on the most part positive. However now I have the vacuum and have used it, I can't understand why there would be any positive reviews. It's clunky, doesn't move round corners well at all, it's not very light so quite awkward to move around. The accessories are an absolute pain to get on, especially if you have arthritis. I got something jammed in the head almost immediately and it took me over half an hour to get into it, remove it and get it back together. I've been a domestic cleaner for many years, used many different vacuums and never had issues like these before. I just wish I could return it! Worst hoover I've ever purchased
5 August 2023

This is the first upright vacuum cleaner I've bought so perhaps this has contributed to my experience. However, I found using this model fiddly and annoying. Having to change over the hose connection every time I want to do the edges or was annoying. As with all vacuum cleaners, you expect to have to change the attachment to use the small brush etc but this is far more time consuming and fiddly. Vacuuming the edges was a chore having to constantly switch the hose over. The lead is very long which I liked and the actual performance was okay to good although not suitable if you have lots of people in the house with long hair! The clip also cracked and broke so now the hose won't stay attached. I had to choose whether to sort that out or buy a new vacuum cleaner. I ... MoreThis is the first upright vacuum cleaner I've bought so perhaps this has contributed to my experience.
