I bought two of these 50 packs (several months ago). I tried to copy some videos as I had always previously done. After copying, the discs were not recognized by my computer or my DVD player. I then borrowed some Imation brand blank discs from a friend and had no problem copying the videos. Since then, I have been getting Sony brand blank discs and have had no problems. Maybe my Verbatim discs were defective?

I don't ever want to run out of anything so always have one or more backs up on hand. That requirement applies to everything! I have 3 DVDRs in use daily to record prime time TV for viewing at bedtime so each DVD gets a lot of use and may ocassionally wear out. Sometimes there is a show I will want to save and that requires that I replace the DVD into that recorder after saving the DVD. This product was on sale. Since I tend to be a penny pincher, I bought it to be in my stock of backups. I always stock up when items are on sale anywhere.

Good DVDs. Keeping my data backed up on hard disk as well as USB and PC hard drives is a good habit I picked up since I've been using computers way back in the 1980s, well we used floppy disks and hard diskettes back then, but still, backups are one more solid key to ensuring peace of mind regarding the safety of my data.

I've been using Verbatim brand for years and rarely have had failures with them. For some reason I did have a few, 3 or 4, that were bad. This is unusual for me, I have gone through several packs without having to throw any away up until now. I will continue to buy them. Far, far better than Memorex, I had to throw away about half of a pack of them. Verbatim has been a good reliable product for me and the Wal Mart price is very good. I would have given it a five star rating if I didn't have a few bad ones in this batch.
I received my package and it looked as though the disc bundle had fallen from a second shelf pallet or something. The 50 disc bundle was all fragile but was not in shards - though a few shards fell off (LOL) i carefully examined the plastic shrink wrap en capsuling the media and carefully peeled up the little bit of shrink wrap that had torn/busted. a few pieces of the spindle dropped out, but i was looking to see if i could see any disc damage before i actually opened the spindle. I didn't see any prevalent visual damage so i went ahead and decided to "go for it". The spindle cover and the spindle base almost collapsed into my hand. So I examined the damaged bottom section by thumb to see if there were scratches. none visually so far. I turned the spindle upside down on the table and gently pulled the spindle from the media. I grabbed the first 15 or so disks and there was not a single scratch on any of the ones that would/should have been damaged. So to my point of this review: This just goes to show you even though there was external visual damage, Neweggs staff/employees do their job so well, they know when a product is still good by a simple visual inspection. Yeah to someone that has no extra spindles like i do, it really wouldn't have posed any problem. You would have just had to leave them on your desk and use them accordingly; you couldn't have taken them with you anywhere. So once again a satisfied customer EVEN with a damaged product.
I purchased 800 since Jan. 2nd and approximately 80% would not play. It is a long story why I just found out 2 days ago. I have bought thousands under various brand names and have never had a problem. I do not understand how VERBATIM could have such good reviews. VERBATIM makes a great thin line plastic case for their DVDs but they have a severe production problem with the 50 pack DVD. Don't buy their DVD until they start producing a decent product. I am thoroughly disgusted. If you have a multi-drawer DVD copy machine and the screen says they all passed you better play every disc. The copy machine does its job on a disc that won't play.
I put our church sermons from the camera to DVD for my pastor & ministers. This is my 2nd 50-pack of Verbatim DVD discs. Every one has recorded with no problems. Our member who operates the camera told me the recorded discs play great in their home DVD player. Great Quality for a Great Price!
I couldn't find any reasonably priced recordable DVD disks at my local Walmart store, but they had these at Walmart.com for half the price of the similar products sold in their store. With free shipping to the local store, this was a good choice.I have recorded a few disks so far without a hitch. I can't predict how long the recordings will last, but so far they are meeting my needs.
The website shows the exact item I wanted Verbatim DVD+R 4.7GB (AZO) 16x Disc Spindle (50 Pack); but that is not what I received for each of the last 3 orders I've placed. I keep getting Verbatim's Life Style DVD's. They are NOT AZO disc's. They are not the same quality as the AZO's disc's and they don't have the shelf life as the AZO disc's do. My problem is I wait to the last minute to order, then I don't have time to wait on returning the item and the resend of the correct item. I WISH THEY WOULD CORRECT THE WEBSITE PAGE to reflect the accual disc's sold LIFE STYLE instead of AZO, or better yet send me the correct disc's in the first place (Just like the website lists)
